I'll put in my 2 rupees about why I'm not particularly shocked... hehehe!
Those TRPs came from IndianTelevision.com ... and the thing with that website is that these days, numbers posted there are pretty much specific to just one region, rather than being representative of numbers across the country.
Off the top of my head, I think it's a southern territory that the website focusses on... I mean, check out the bar chart (in which the bars seem to have disappeared 😳 ) below -

I'm sure that Sun TV is a good channel... but it definitely does NOT have the same viewership share (ACROSS the nation) as Star Plus! 😆
Check the last few weeks also... I'm sure that more Sun TV domination will be found... hehehe!
But seriously, even these numbers are useful to a certain extent... they do give some kinda indication as to how shows are performing in a particular region 👍🏼
I chat to people regularly who are into the TRP chakkar, and it definitely is interesting! Channels have their own calculation system, (which is somewhat on a bigger scale than Amap and IndianTelevision.com's) and those numbers are ultimately the ones that help in calling the shots with regards to the advertising fees that will be charged for ads in each time slot.
Balaji Telefilms used to publish their numbers at one point, but now they don't. I'm not sure if it is possible to get hold of those numbers anymore, but I'll definitely ask around 😊
Anyways, for what it's worth, the word is that the channel are pleased with the feedback from both the new shows 👍🏼
With TRPs though, whilst it's interesting, I'd honestly suggest that we don't bother looking too much into these things... I've been stuck in countless topics during my 2 years here at I-F where things are said like "Oh, TRPs are up because of this" or "down because of this", and "if they want TRPs, then they have to do this"... all that is nothing but speculation that is driven by numbers which are different to what the channels and producers use 😆
