Homo-sexuality is a very sensitive issue, which is often avoided in India. We still feel very awkward when we say "Homosexuality" in a country where even the word "sex" is not uttered in public. Section 377 of Indian Penal Code criminalises Homosexuality and states :
" Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine"
Many people (Staright & homosexuals) have come forward to sign a petition to legalise homosexuality in India. But the matter still lies undecided upon in the Court.
What is your take on the issue? Should homosexuality be legal In India ? Is our society ready for this ?

There are topics discussed on homosexuality but no particularly on the law / India in particular.
RE : Topic -
Decrimilising sounds like an encouragment that might not benefit the society longer term. Don't get me wrong am go go ga ga against individuals choice, but i will not support homosexuality. Law / No Law doesn't matter. Said that if individuals want to indulge in it... all the best and good for them.

I personally see nothing wrong in making it legal.....its not like gay ppl r contagious or anything!😕 I think they should atleast make it legal in places where ppl have knowlege about homosexuality in a good way and not in a retarted way whr they'll jus attack them... Mumbai n Delhi should legal it since half od Bollywood n fashion world in Delhi are loaded with gay/bi/lesbians ITS TRUE turst me on this... I knw three ppl from bollywood industry n do noe wat goes on behind the curtains 😆😆

I have no issues with them @ all....I have LOTS of gay freinds here..YES DESI GAY FIRENDS too n they are really nice and fun to hang out with....I think ppl should get to know each other better rather than jus juging on their gender, orientation, race etc..... most of u guys wen u think of the word "homosexuality" u think of nothing else but the way they indulge in sex....no im not ashamed of saying this because thats the FACT! wen ppl look @ gay guys or lesbian couples...they only look for the negative things in them instead of positive....

as for the excuse saying "Kids will look at them and think its normal" THAT IS THE LAMEST EXCUSE I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE!! It's up for them to decide whats good n wats bad for them once they're grown up......i mean how often do we tell our kids not to do something n they end up doing tht? They can deicide for themselves at times wats good or bad.... pre marital sex in indian society....did it exist as much as is does today NOPE...did parents tell their kids this is bad...not to have a gf..bf...YES a lot of them do.....but the kids who r indulging in pre marital sex listen nope! so its basically their personal choice whether they should be something or do something...no one can stop them from tht act...

lol in short yes it should be legal in some citites like Mumbai and Delhi n not in villages whr ppl r till date still illiterate!

I can't believe how ignorant a lot of desi people are about homosexuality. These people include "educated" people too. They don't get it that it isn't your fault if you are born and are naturally attracted to people of the same sex. It isn't a lifestyle choice, you can't help it.

Of course it should be made legal. What is so wrong with being with someone you love? They're not harming anyone.. we're in 21st century now..

for me it a psychlogical disorder. some even practice it by choice. but then these people sld just keep it among them selves and not bug normal people. so i think its better if it is made legal. but i think it is against nature.

Yes it should be made legal.

This way we can get all the gays outed and have them register themselves. We will tattoo their gay id number on their wrists and take them to a gay safe haven where they can be kept in seclusion from society. Everyone will be safe from gay people spreading their gayness. And the gayness will strangely and slowly start to disappear.

This cannot be achieved if being gay is illegal.

omg, thank you. You won't believe the number of people I come across that actually believe it's a "choice." But this definitely isn't just a desi thing...many Americans have that mentality as well!
