In an article published in examiner.com, Alicia Edwards says Aishwarya Rai had become a source of inspiration for many in American Fashion industry. As per the article - President Barack Obama may well be the most famous person born in an Ox year but he has good company of the celebrities like the handsome George Clooney and the lovely Bollywood star Aishhwarya Rai.

"India has experienced an economic boom in the past few years. As the middle class expands in India and the Indian communities grow larger in the US, traditional Indian dress influences American fashion.

From nose rings to tunics to saris to golden bangles ~ all are becoming more common in pop culture and New York runways. I have been wearing all these for years…except for a sari. I do have beautiful green one ~ I just haven't found an appropriate place to wear it yet."

Um I hate to burst peoples bubble with this but traditional Indian couture was "in" way before Aishwarya came to Hollywood. Madonna made it famous.

Don't worry, you burst none. We all know that the Indian culture existed for millennia and people in western world were introduced to it long time ago. But the fame comes in waves, it was true that Madonna's stints at Indian cultural attire may have made it a little popular but by far that is not the only happening. Similarly in recent times its the Ash who is making waves and she being Indian and pretty (much more prettier than Madonna) things started really sizzling, I guess....
