Amrita is a big fan of Sachin
Amrita Rao is looking forward to playing Hurman Baweja's love interest in Ajitpal Mangat's cricket-based film Victory after having received critical acclaim for her role in Welcome to Sajjanpur.
Amrita says that she is a big fan of cricket in real life too. "Oh yes! Whenever there is a match in Mumbai and if I'm not shooting on that day I try to go for the game. My favourite player is Sachin Tendulkar and as a child I remember I used to wake up early to see him bat, especially during the World Cup," says Amrita.
Amrita has the simple next-door girl look in this film too. "I play a medical student called Nandini. She is from Jaisalmer and is Hurman's best friend," says Amrita, "What I liked best about my role is that she is a very strong person. She is very balanced and focused. Later on in the film Vijay goes on to be a superstar but she remains rooted to the ground. There are quite a few basic qualities about her which will surely be liked by audiences. Many girls will relate to her," says Amrita.
When quizzed about Hurman's Love Story 2050 debacle and what prompted her to do a film opposite him, Amrita says, "Unnecessary criticism has been levied on Hurman. Even my first film didn't do well. Everyone criticised him after his first film flopped but that's not the end of the road. He has done full justice to his character and he has really worked very hard."
Speaking about Ajitpal, Amrita says that he has executed the film very well and its script stands out. "When I heard the narration of Victory, I really thought that it was going to be wonderful film as the script is its USP," says the actress.
After Victory, Amrita will be seen with Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi in Short Cut. Soon she will begin work on ABCL's The Legend of Kunal with Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and Tabu. Amrita will play Arjun's wife in the film.
