Arohi's brother narrates the events of their father's "celebratory" luncheon - rather than being honoured for his contributions at Gurukul; he was removed from the position of Principal and "moved" into the role of a board-member. Furthermore, the music school has been bought by DK Punj who will now take up the position of Principal.
Arohi's father reminds his son that he is merely a PG (paying-guest) and so should limit his concern and involvement to his rented room. However, Arohi's brother continues his spite; blaming his father and his principles as the cause for his limited resources and success. They are interrupted by a knock on the door - Arohi's father receives a letter; however the son continues to mock his father, claiming it to be a notice for him to now leave the city!
Arohi's younger sister, Antra, followed by Arohi put a stop to their brother's nonsensical tantrum. Their father in turn responds to his son, stating that his life-long earnings are his four daughters - Poorvi; Aurvi; Sur and Antra. He confirms that he regrets one thing, which is having invested so much towards his son's future in the hope that he in turn would support his sisters. Their father continues, confirming that the letter is from DK Punj, who in spite of not knowing him, wants to meet him before taking up his position as the new Principal; in a bid to assign him a duly-deserved position - therefore his respect, hard work and honesty ARE being rewarded. Arohi's brother and bhabhi storm off.
In their bedroom, Arohi is thinking over the events of the day, confirming that after bad comes some good ' an example being her father. However, she is upset at the thought of herself having only been the receiver of bad luck; and is interrupted from her thoughts by the alarm-clock. As Arohi prepares to leave, Aurvi stops her and confirms that without fail Arohi always visits the wishing-pond on their mother's birthday; and today has been no exception.
At the wishing-pond, Arohi recalls her mother's tradition of wishing and tossing a coin in the pond each year in order to get all that her heart asked for. Arohi is about to wish for herself; but the coin slips away. As she heads to pick it up, she hears Arjun playing the tune she sang earlier on a mouth-organ. Arohi moves towards him, but a puppy is hit and left injured by a passing car. Arjun moves towards it, and rips his scarf into two pieces, using one to tie the puppy's injured leg, whilst throwing the other piece near to where Arohi is standing. Arohi takes it and leaves.
Arohi returns to the wishing-pond and confirms that she has understood her mom's sign - people don't tend to help other people these days, and there are such persons like this one who has helped an animal. She decides to also follow such a step and rather than ask something for herself, she wishes for Arjun.
The next day, Arohi and her father prepare to leave to meet DK Punj, when they are met by Bua (Baa from KKSBKBT) who has a handful of photographs of prospective boys. She heads towards the house to meet with the remaining girls while Arohi and her father leave.
Bua explains that the Punj/Mitthal families are back in Shimla and they have 4 unmarried sons, for which reason most of the local girls are preparing to attend the party they are hosting tonight in an attempt to entice one of them. Antra explains that their father has gone to their house this morning, and now hopes that they get invited to the party too.
Outside the Punj residence a series of media persons are standing; waiting to capture the arrival of the hosts for the luncheon. Arohi pushes past them and hands to the guard the letter sent to her father; they are allowed entry. However, as they enter the gates, DK Punj, his financer, Mr Mitthal and his wife arrive. They all head towards the luncheon. Arohi and her father are asked to wait near the dog-houses. After approximately 5 hours, Arohi's father asks for water; Arohi heads towards the house in search of a waiter and requests a glass of water. As she walks back, Arjun's watch reflects off the sunlight directly into Arohi's vision. Arjun is immersed in his mobile and fails to notice her.
On questioning, DK Punj reveals that they have moved back to Shimla in order to capture and capitalise on the foundation of music - Gurukul. DK Punj then asks after his sons, to which Mrs Mitthal explains that Sahil has gone off to see one of his professors and Arjun is hiding away inside.
PRECAP - Mr Mitthal explains to DK Punj whilst looking in Arohi and her father's direction that he is the man who is well-renowned and respected in India for his efforts at Gurukul - and so he will be a key instrument in their works.
