I think the fact that Ambika and Vasu are sisters was another storyline that was initially hidden in this serial from the way beginning. I remember there was an episode where this fact was brought up and casually overlooked. To me it wasn't a a suprise that they are real sisters. I think vasu's character is the way it is and even though she accepted Ragini it was from the outside and that it brought her sons closer to her.
I have to agreewith this. Vasu had rejected Ragini from the very first time because she was dark. All the time when Vasu was filling Ranveer's ears, she used to go with " Ham tumhare liye aisi ladki layenge jo khoobsurat ho, jiske baal sunhere ho, jo pari...............jiska rang .........." and all that. Infact think about it why did she choose Sadhna? It was because she wanted to show the world that even her son who is not well would get a beautiful , fair girl. In her mind beauty is very important and more so she also equates fairness with beauty. She resorted to a lot of blackmail to get Sadhna married. Think about it, wouldn't it have been easier to persuade Ragini for Aalekh as she has always been shown to have not many prospects. I know this sounds cruel but it happens in real life. People make compromises.
About Vasu and Ambika I was not surprised, I have had my suspicions for a while. If you guys remember Indrajeet's talk with Ranveer before he was going to USA, he said that this kind of decisions should not be made on basis of colour. He had gone on to praise Ambika and how she had made Satyen happy and then also spoke of his repentence that he had once made the same mistake and how he was suffering due to it. Also Ambika was too disturbed in the days when Ranveer was trying to make Vasu change her mind. In most of her conversations with Satyen, she used to emphasis as though she had also gone through this whole phase. As though she could empathize wih Ragini. And no wonder Vasu always chooses Ambika to be her sounding board. Any problem arises and she seeks confirmation and justification from Ambika that what she does can never be wrong. But if Ambika tries to approach her, she always rebukes her.
