Ekta Kapoor, famous for introducing the K serials to television, has finally fallen out of love with her favourite letter of the alphabet.
"I gave this concept of Bandini to them and they were quite impressed with this story," Ekta said, "they felt that Bandini was an appropriate title for this story. However I wanted to have a title with K. Since they were adamant, I consulted with my astrologer and he verified the name. So I said OK."
The still-superstitious Ekta says: "Bandini's concept was with me from 2004 and I kept it with me with the thought that I will make this show only when I will have my own channel."
She insists that her love affair with K continues. "For the second new show (Kitni Mohabbat Hai) I kept title from K," she points out, "any anyway, this is not for the first time that I have named a serial without K. I have done that in the past and all those shows were hit too!"
Her first non-K serial was her debut serial Hum Panch, the riotous comedy on Zee TV.
But after that a slew of serials, mainly on STAR TV that brought her fame and shot Balaji, her company, into the limelight, were all named with K: Kyunki, Kahaani, Kasauti, Kasamh Se and Kavyanjali. Sometimes she loved K so much she felt the need to have two of them, as in Kkusum. Other times, she introduced it through creative spelling where it wasn't even present, as in C Kkompany, her movie, starring her brother Tusshar.
The chaska for K also hit Karan Johar, who called his talk show on STAR Koffee with Karan.
