Shekhar sings a song for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Shekhar (of the Vishal-Shekhar duo) has sung a song titled Hey Zindagi for Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance. This is the first song he's sung for another music director. It was at the behest of singer Shankar Mahadevan who's sung many songs for the composers.

Shekhar says, "Shankar has sung many songs for us, and he always said that I should sing for him someday. Five to six months back ago, he asked me to come to the studio. I was quite excited because I share a great rapport with Shankar.

Zoya was there in the studio as well and we recorded the song. I have been getting lot of messages from friends congratulating me on it."

Even though Shekhar has sung songs in his own album, singing for another music director was different, "I realised I needed to be more patient as a music composer. I followed Shankar's instructions even though he gave me enough freedom as a singer to go my own way. I was extremely nervous but am glad the song came out really well."

He talks about his music in 2009, "Alladin will be our first major album this year. After that we are working on the score of a UTV animation film titled Arjun. Besides that, we have a couple of other projects which are in the discussion stage."
