If all goes well, then for the very first time an Indian actor will present an award at this year's prestigious Golden Globes. Shah Rukh Khan has been invited by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Here's a first!

HFPA is the organisation behind the awards and for the first time in the 66 years since its inception, an Indian celebrity is tipped to present an award. Shah Rukh Khan is currently in Los Angeles shooting for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan, and the awards are being held there, so it might all just fall into place. It is believed that Karan Johar has also been invited to attend the award function.

Just formalities now

Says a source from LA, "People from HFPA are in talks with SRK and are supposed to drop in on the sets of My Name is Khan to extend SRK a formal invitation to attend the ceremony on January 11 at the The Beverly Hilton in LA. King Khan will have to sign an official letter confirming his presence at the ceremony."

Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire is also tipped to be a major winner at this year's award season. The director will be present with A R Rahman who has also been nominated for the Best Musical Score.

Shah Rukh, who's currently in LA, replied to say, "The organisers got celebrities to present nominees etc and want me to present a film in the Drama category, walk the red carpet, give interviews et al. It's supposed to be a big honour. The guys who called me are from HFPA. Also, on the 11th I have time off from shooting so it will be fun because Rahman is nominated for Slumdog Will be nice to see him win."

Bollywood will also be represented by Shah Rukh Khan, who has been pencilled in to present an award (a first at the Golden Globes for an Indian actor). Shah Rukh Khan The First Indian Star To Present An Award At Golden Globes

Supr-star Shah Rukh Khan will be the first Indian star to present an award at the Golden Globes, this Sunday at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

Music maestro A R Rahman is also in the running for the Best Original Score for the Internationally acclaimed Danny Boyle film, 'SlumDog Millionaire' which has already won 55 awards within two months of its release in the USA.

Accompanying King Khan will be filmmaker Karan Johar, who is currently in Los Angeles the shooting for 'My Name Is Khan', as he is also a special invitee at the awards ceremony.

SRK invited to Golden Globe Awards

For the first time in 66 years since its origin, an Indian celebrity has been invited to present an award. Yup! Shah Rukh Khan's charisma is far-famed all over the globe and recently getting positioned at 41st rank amongst World's 50 topmost powerful people has made it all bigger. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), organizers of this award ceremony had recently held discussions about finalizing celebrities to present awards where SRK was ensconced.

One of the sources said, 'Officials from HFPA would soon fleet to the shooting spots of My Name is Khan at LA and extend an invitation to Shah Rukh Khan.' The award ceremony would be held on January 11, at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. King Khan would be signing a letter confirming about his presence for the ceremony.

Shah Rukh says, 'The officials from HFPA had approached me for presenting awards for a best film under Drama category. As I would be free from shooting on Jan 11, it's gonna be a great time as A.R. Rahman is nominated for best original score in 'Slumdog Millionaire'. I would love to watch him winning the awards'.

Director Danny Boyle along with A.R. Rahman would be representing Slumdog Millionaire. Filmmaker Karan Johar too has been invited to grace over the occasion.
