2 Queens and a Ranbir!

Teenage heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor proved to one and all that the universal acclaim that he received for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's SAWAARIYA was not a flash in the pan with another zesty performance in Yash Raj's BACHNA AE HASEENO. The film was a moderate success but more important was the fact that Ranbir was able to garner a good opening, which is a sure fire sign of the star power of an actor. And it seems like Ranbir is on a hat–trick with two very promising and much anticipated projects. The first one being Dharma Productions' WAKE UP SID opposite Konkona Sen Sharma, with Rahul Khanna in a special appearance, and the second being Rajkumar Santoshi's AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI opposite the newly crowned princess of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif.

This is the for first time that Ranbir is working with two diverse actresses like Katrina and Konkona, Katrina being the princess of commercial films and Konkana, the queen of off beat films. Yet, the diplomatic, suave and sophisticated Ranbir is at home with both the actresses. He is full of praise for both of them saying that both are thorough professionals. He is specially taken in by Konkona who he sums up as a natural actress with an amazing spontaneity. As for Katrina, people who have seen the shooting of AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI in Ooty have said that the two share a wonderful chemistry and the good looking couple compliments each other to the hilt.

Must say some guys have all the luck, Ranbir being on top of the list after working with a host of beautiful women during such a short span of his career.

I love Konkona and all, but I don't know if this movie will be nearly as good as Life in a Metro in terms of quality. That was good with the whole urban romance thing. I am hopeful, but two things dissuade me from being so. Manish Malhotra is doing the clothes in this movie, and Karan Johar is the producer. That can be a recipe for disaster depending on how you look at it. The pair seems interesting though, and I would like it to work. It is fresh, and Ranbir certainly does have the pick of the plummest projects in town. Not being treated at all like a rookie is he. Ha, I sound like Yoda.
