Shabnam
Model-actress Shabnam, who played the permed-hair chirpy office colleague Maria in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, has now discreetly dropped out of the widely-watched Sony serial.

"That's because originally my character Maria was supposed to have its own sub-plot with a well-defined track. Initially all was well but gradually I realised that the script allowed only the lead characters to grab prominence and I felt rather neglected. So after eight months there was a mutually amicable parting with producers Deeya and Tony with whom I share a cool rapport, otherwise," discloses Shabnam who incidentally played the hyper- possessive oomphy girlfriend of Emran Hashmi in the runaway hit movie Murder.

As if to get rid of the Maria image, the husky-voiced Shabnam has straightened her tresses in her makeover look in her current serial Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (Zee). "Its a realistic yet funny serial and I play this glamorous high court lawyer who has her share of punch-lines," she smiles.

Was it true that she has bagged Raman Kumar's serial Millie (Star Plus) where she plays a seductive scheming babe? "Oh yeah, that's going to be exciting because I play an illegitimate 'brattish' daughter who is also a hep house-maid who has sexual vibes with a richie-rich widower played by Asif Sheikh And it's an honour to be working with Raman-ji who with Tara pioneered soap operas on satellite TV," says Shabnam who is also considering 'item dance' offers in big-banner movies.

Meanwhile, she is also shooting for two crazy comedies Mad House and Masti both being aired on Sab TV.

"In Mad House, where I play a bizarre role I have even sung a portion of the title track," laughs the Murder girl who has even played vampish negative characters in serials like Kabhi Souten Kabhi Saheli. "Variety is the spice of acting life," she says as a parting shot.

yeah, I miss her too. I think T&D were unfair to her and they
should have given her more of a storyline as well as the rest of
the characters, rather than introduce new and old characters.

I'll miss Maria and Trishna😭 but I think it's a credit to the producers that their turnover hasn't been higher and that they havn't had to replace any major faces .. everyone else has been dying to be ON the show rather than off it.

I guess that means TRPs or no TRPs, JJKN ROCKS👏😳

I know, but what I am saying is that major players should be given some
more air space....rather give that someone more airspace! 😉 😉
