Just watched the repeat of Thursday's Bidaai, and something just came to my mind which i am sharing here.

Ragini agreed to marry Shishir cause she felt it her "Farz" or duty towards her family, her parents, and since she accepted this it ofcourse meant separation from Ranvir.

Now i agree the separation part does and will make her sad, but if she has given more importance to her "Farz" and is giving up her love, then should she not do it with atleast a smile on her face.

In thursdays episode, the whole time Ragini was sulking, depressed, sad. If you are doing something for ur family especially parents, even though u do not like doing it u still do it with a smile.

yeh but obviously shes gonna marry ranvir now so this doesnt matter and something will have to be done bout Vasu and mami and then rags will come to rajvansh house where she will be taunted again for her colour and compared to sadhna and vasu will wreck her life and then theyll just never show alekh's recovery and thats basically the end for me.

I agree,
No matter what decision you make, atleast have 100%of your input towards it, No doubt its a tough one, but when she's making that choice, she should also observe that she goes through with it and sets out for her goal

I see your point.
However, she is but human. It is easy to say that she should do everything with a smile if she made up her mind to do this as a farz for her family. But it is very difficult for the person going through the pain to manage to actually act that normal.
Some ppl are good at putting on a good face on things even if they're upset....and some ppl aren't. It depends on the individual.

Thanks for reminding me why I Love ragini. You remember there was a scene with her mother where she says she had made up her mind never to meet ranveer but she can't help it , her heart keeps thinking of him. She has always been shown to be human and thats why I relate to her the most.

@Just_in: Exactly. I don't find Ragi's behavior at the engagement odd at all cuz we've seen how painful things had been for her even after the TM....and now when she knows that the person she loves, loves her just as much if not more, but she is not able to be with him because of complications, obviously she will be upset, won't she?
And maybe it's not the right or appropriate thing to be unable to control your expressions in public if you're upset, but it is a very human reaction in my opinion.
And all this aside, it was necessary from a plotline point of view to show how upset Ragi was so that Shishir gets a clue about her state of mind and ultimately breaks the engagement.

^^ That's what I love about Bidaai- it's so real, after all Ragini is a human being. This isn't an Ekta Kapoor drama where all leading ladies make a million sacrifices a day with big smiles on their faces!! I mean, Ragini loves Ranvir, and the thought of not being with her love is painful and clearly shows on her face!! And yep, it must have been a necessary plotline in order for Shishir to find out about her love for Ranvir. xx

Well it was important to show that Ragini is sad, but being sad especially in a serial does not mean u have to keep crying and sulking.

You can also get the msg across by a smile that shows the sadness which is within, and am sure it would have been more effective showing Ragini to be brave to face everything with a smile for the happiness of her parents.

Right now it seemed to me that she is trying to please her parents but is not happy in doing it. Which i thought condradicts the word "Farz" where parents are concerned.

How does it contradict the word "Farz"?? Does "Farz" mean that one always has to do something with a smile? I thought farz meant to do your duty....but nowhere does it specify HOW you do that duty....she is TRYING to do it as a farz towards her parents, but that doesn't mean that she will necessarily be able to do it happily.....she is TRYING to be brave for her parent's sake...but it is still difficult for her....Again, a very human reaction....she is trying but still unable to maintain a stiff upper lip because it is too painful for her.

^ for me she is getting married she should have tried to show a her parents / family that she is doing it happily and not being forced against her will.

Once she had decided that she will sacrifice her love, and get married to Shishir as it is her Farz, then crying and sulking just does not seem right to me. Maybe it does to you.

I dont mean to say she should not have shown her hurt, but there are many ways to show the hurt not just making a sad face or by crying.
