Ahmedabad: The above scene is from a forthcoming music video on Gujarat, conceptualised and directed by a Gujarati filmmaker that salutes the spirit of Gujarat in the face of adversity. Made on the lines of the song 'Mile sur mera tumhara...', which had the concept of national integration, the video will hit the screens early next year.
A 'mile sur...' from Gujarat
Manish Bhatt, Mumbai-based advertising guru and the force behind 'Jityu hamesha Gujarat' video, told TOI that he composed this song on the same meter as Zaverchand Meghani's famous song 'Lagyo kasumbi no rang.'
The idea came to him when watching a daayro in Mumbai. "I suddenly realised that I have nothing to carry forward for my children due to prolonged stay outside Gujarat. I then conceputalised this song by improvising on the original. It is more like a feeling of pride that makes the song soulful," he said.
A part of this film was shot in the majestic Adalaj ni Vav with known faces of the entertainment industry such as Prachi Desai, Tanvi Vyas, Nidhi Seth and Mauli Dave. The crew members are going to shoot extensively in central and south Gujarat in the coming days.
Other members are Rajat Dholakiya, a renowned ad music composer, Khantil Mehta, an advertising and PR professional from Ahmedabad, and crew members of BR Chopra Films, who gave executive and production support. The video features everything from the state — its sand, seas, gardens and heritage sites, celebrities and commoners, industries and even riots. "We wanted to showcase what the state is all about — entrepreneurship, the never-say-die spirit, cultural heritage and above all compassion. We are sure the effort will document the feelings of an average Gujarati," says Mehta.
Shooting began in October and is expected to end this month. Prominent Gujarati singers like Hemant Chauhan, Ashit and Hema Desai, Diwaliben Bhil, Shyamal-Soumil and Hari Bharwad recorded the song in Mumbai last month.
