Aamir Khan has been deeply moved by the sudden death of H. Sridhar, a four-time national award-winning sound engineer. He flew all the way to Chennai to attend the funeral of Sridhar.
Sridhar has worked in films like Rangeela, Lagaan and Ghajini. In fact, he has extensively worked with AR Rahman.
Aamir says, "Shridhar was one of the finest technicians of our industry and a dear friend. I had worked closely with him especially during the final mix of Lagaan. The news of his passing away is a huge shock and I feel a deep sense of loss. This tragic news coming at a time when we are all grappling with the devastating attack on Mumbai has left me shattered."
An industry source says: "As soon as Aamir got the news, he flew to Chennai on Monday night to attend the funeral of Sridhar. Aamir had come across Sridhar many a times while working for films especially in those which have seen A.R. Rahman compose the music like Lagaan, Mangal Pandey and even in Ghajini. He has also worked in Dil Chahta Hai that had Aamir in it. In fact, he was working on Ghajini the night he died. Aamir obviously was disturbed and he decided to be there. Sridhar was only 48 years old and had a special place in Aamir's heart."
Rahman has apparently known Sridhar, who was also a talented guitarist, for around 25 years. He has also worked in films like Dil Se, Guru, Water, Provoked, Swades, Satya and Bombay. Sridhar is survived by his wife and two sons – Vinay and Vishal.
