MUMBAI: Audiences will soon get to watch their favourite television serials as shooting has

resumed

Although there were expectations that work would begin on Monday, only 70 % TV producers managed to do so. Said an industry insider, "Some producers were not sure if workers would cooperate. Therefore, we decided to wait and watch for one more day. It is going to be work as usual from Tuesday.''

Producer Ajai Sinha will begin the shooting of his serial Ghar Ek Sapna from Tuesday. But production houses such as Balaji Telefilms and J D Majithia started shooting for their respective serials from Monday.

Producer J D Majithia, who resumed work from Monday, said, "The shooting went on very peacefully and we hope this continues. Even the workers were all charged up to get back to work which is a clear indication that there may not be any more problems in future.''

The producers' body has expressed its gratitude towards the workers for returning to work. Said vice-president Vikas Mohan of the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers, "We are obliged to the federation and hope to see things getting normal. We will see to it that all our members abide by the MoU signed by them with federation on November 19. If any of the terms are violated, strict action will be taken against them.''

Meanwhile, the new core committee formed by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has decided not to interrupt any shootings. General Secretary Dinesh Chaturvedi said, "All the department heads have been told not to disrupt any shootings. We have asked each one of them to send us their grievances which will be discussed in our future meetings and then taken up with the producers.''

However, there was slight disruption on Monday at the sets of Cinevista and Balaji Telefilms where members from some departments demanded shift-wise payments. "But all issues were sorted out immediately, and shootings resumed,'' said an insider.

Lights, camera… finally action- Mumbai Mirror

Television viewers rejoice, the strike is off and shooting has started… we bring you a day 1 report

RUNNA ASHISH BHUTDA

As the workers' strike was called off, unit members trickled back to where they actually belonged yesterday - the sets. Eager to get back to work, a few production houses began shooting right from the first shift at 9am.
A source said, "The mood on the sets was exuberant. Joyous technicians, happy spot boys and actors looked fresh as they were back from a much needed break." Picking up from where they had left off, it seemed like a busy day for the unit on the sets of Creative Eye's Ghar ki Laxmi Betiyaan at Andheri. Deepak Panth, Head of production for the soap, spoke to us, "Some shootings have begun. Why should we waste any time now that the strike is over? A few producers wanted to wait in order to gauge the worker union's reaction but we had a meeting with the union on Sunday and they agreed to work from Monday. We've offered them the maximum possible hike. Apart from a salary hike, our workers have various other facilities like workers insurance, medical insurance and three meals a day. If the workers opt for voluntary retirement they are offered a stipulated pension. At the same time only three to four actors have been called for the shoot so that even if there is any issue it won't cause inconvenience to all."
JD Majithia, Managing director of Hats Off said, "Ghar jaise veeraan pada tha. Ab log aa kar usme bas gaye hai, chahal pahal shuru ho gayee hai. jaise ghar aabad ho gaya ho, (it was like a house full of people was suddenly drained of everything. Everyone is home now.) We have begun shooting for two of our serials; Jassuben Jayantilal ki Joint Family and Shree. For some producers it's a wait and watch situation. If all goes well on Monday they will begin shooting from Tuesday. Within three to four days all will be back to normal."
Albert Almaida, Senior Vice President Marketing and Communication, Sony Television, said, "We are happy that at last some producers have begun shooting. After the shoot schedules follow a regular pattern all channels will meet to decide the date for airing fresh episodes."
Later during the day a shoot at Cinevista Studio (Kanjurmarg) was disrupted by some workers. Dinesh Chaturvedi, Vice President, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) said, "Some workers at Cinevista Studio did stop the shoot for awhile. They wanted to ensure that all the workers would be paid properly. Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil and Dill Mill Gayye were being shot at the time."
The strike had started from October 23 and caused mayhem for over 30 days before the workers and the producers agreed to the terms and condition laid down by the workers.
