Cine workers call off strike

Divya Unny, NDTV Correspondent

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 (Mumbai)

There's great news for all the soap addicts, the deadlock between television workers and broadcasters has finally been broken.

Workers have won this round with producers and broadcasters. They will be given a 7.5 per cent raise that they were demanding.

Over 350 entertainment channels, regional and national, went off air, all were showing repeat episodes for the past 10 days. The strike was a result of a battle between television producers and the workers association in Mumbai.

The workers wanted a hike in payment and went on strike when their demand was not met.
