ju r probably right meow...the diwali epi had a subtlety or i dont know what...it just seemed nicer, better edited, better set up than the others....could be nissar yaar...

and it had a touching realism too....esp the bit were all 4 are dreaming, without even being conscious of what's happening to them..i thought that was very well done. even dia seemed almost real and not so much of a barbie....

sonia, i do think mayank doesnt think much of the girls who drool over him...a la his opinion of dia. of course, indifference is there...but condescension hardly ever translates into trying to run away i think....you just turn up your nose at them and ignore them. when he says it doesnt matter to him and let them do what they are doing, he does have a tinge of derision for them. maybe derision is a better word than condescension, the latter being perhaps a bit too negative a word. but yaar, itna mujhe nahin pata...u guys may be right and i amy be totally wrong!

@Sonali: But Dia isn't one of the ones drooling over Mayank yaar....his derision of her arises from her frivolty and obsession with being the 'diva' of the college....The other girls drooling over him don't really register cuz he never even spares them much of a glance.....it is only Samrat who is walking around doing his flying kiss and 'hey babes' routine......so I do think Mayank fits the 'apathetic' title more aptly.

Yes I loved the part with Dia dreaming!!! It came across as genuine for once!!!

Yaar sonali, if he had a derision for attention, he wouldn't have grinned back so adorably to oblige all the girls who were crushing over him and waving to him @ the party!!! 😆

Exactly!!! 😆 But the point I was trying to make was that there wasn't any hint of derision in his indifference!!!

Oh yeah, I don't think he had any derision for them either....I agree with you when you say that he is just indifferent to it, doesn't register for him much.

achha discussion hain yaar....'good good...i like it ...i like it'....😊
well IMO...the difference in the attitudes of mayank and samrat towards the girls and life in general has to do a lot with their situations in life....
mayank is shown as this super studious types ....ever immersed in his books....but its not that hes not like a pure Hermione type persona....interested in book for his pure love of them.....its more like he is driving himself to excel in his studies for it to work a stepping stone to the amelioration of his future life.....he doesnt pay much attention to the female adulation aroung him .....coz hes too busy with his books...and improving his life....coz he knows ke college ke bahar in the big bad world the now-swooning girls wudnt even care for a guy who goes bout in an auto....mebbe that was one of the prime reasons he was attracted to nupur....bcoz she was the kinda girl who wud be comfortable even in an auto.....simple sort at heart and all kinda girl...the one u cud talk to bejhijak....also i guess the fact that mayank doeas hav a solid family support in the form of his mom that he doesnt really need to build up an uber-cool persona like samrat.....samrats seems the kinda guy whoz not got any family support at all...at least not emotionally...financially mebbe....with his bikes and cars....and being able to throw a party any time....but the emotional aspect is kinda missing from his life....its almost like hez alone forever and has to remind himself that if not his family....all the girls 'love' him.....somtimes i do feel he even has to kinda remind himself that he is confident.....his confidence is not the subtle kind...hez gotta remnd himself bout it time and again.....hence those cheesy dialogues...u know "samrat is the best" and all.....the scene where he was telling gunjan ke tum meri tarah confident nahin banna chahti.....it was almost like he was consciouly aware of being 'a confident person'...so much so that it almost seems like hez putting it on so as a sorta shield.....in the face of the lack of filial support samrat is kinda building his support system through his uber-cool confident persona....and hence feels the need to interact with his female adulation club coz he kinda needs them to continue his 'confident' self.....which mayank does not really need....what mayank needs is to secure his life...and the only avenue open to him seems to be through studies....whereas samrat might be havin some sorta readymade family business to join in after college....
lagta hain bhashan kuchh zyaada hi ho gaya.....😊
