Ok I had this idea roaming around in my head regarding Sajan and I just had to pen it down, I am not planning to make this FF very long since I am the type of person who gets bored easily with her writing and discontinues😆

Here is the promo:

Nervous! God that word was no where close to describing her state right now, Panic yes that says it better no no...freaking out is perfect. It was her first day of college in the city of Mumbai of course she was going to freak out!

Grabbing her books she suddenly stopped...

Will he be there for her? He said he would! Oh Shut up Gunjan of course he will be there for you...He's your boyfriend for god sakes!

You can expect an update this week sometime and I will try to update and finish this off as soon as possible but I can't guarantee it Work and Uni sometimes really bog me down.

Love,

Simran

Finally! Now that the horrendous issue of my FF being copied has been solved and I am hoping permanently done away with, I am posting back all of the parts that I have written. The unneccessary problem that had asiren was extremely an strenuous and stressful time for me but I am humbled and touched beyond words for the love and support this forum bestowed upon me. I don't think I can ever thank you all enough for your help and unconditional love. I am indeed very lucky to be part of such a forum where people who though have never met or corresponded beyond this site go out of their way for the sake of friendship. A special mention to my dear friend Sana who initally brought this to my attention; Sana I would have never known that someone was stealing my work had it not been for you. Mimi; for your continous help in my battle for what was rightfully mine, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I believe the mod who finally helped me in my predicament was an acquaintance of yours. Ynaiita for your bravery and faith, you are indeed a true friend! You are also the person who caused an uproar with one thread, gotta love you for that girl!😛 And thank you everyone else for the lovely PMs and supportive posts. I love you all!!!🤗
ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL FOR YOU SUPPORT AND HELP IN THIS MATTER!😳

PART 1

Mumbai the city of dreams was hussling and bussling with people running left and right, she watched as some bid their loved ones good bye while the others rushed towards their destinations. Gunjan Bhushan stood on the platform clutching her suitcase waiting for her Di to come out of the restroom. Their train had just arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Station from Morena; her home which she had officially left behind.

She spotted her father; Dhanraj Bhushan looking here and there for his daughters, "PAPA! PAPA!" Gunjan yelled surprising herself, she was the shy soft talking girl and here she was yelling, her first day and the city had already started affecting her.

They reached their Chacha's house about an hour later she looked over at the name plate which read Abhiraj Bhushan. Her Chacha was a nice man she remembered him bringing chocolates for them when she was younger but it had been a while since they met, especially her cousins Diya and Uday the last time she met them was over 5 years ago and now she would be seeing them everyday, they would living with them now and even attending the same college as them. It was her Chacha's idea for them to move here, it was the last year of their college and their Chacha had insisted they finish it in Mumbai for he really missed his brother. Both the brothers had lost their wives and felt lonely so they had come to a conclusion that Dhanraj would move to Mumbai with girls and they would live together like a big happy family.

She felt her uncle's loving embrace as he kissed her forehead, well this wasn't so bad she thought maybe they would be ok. She saw her cousins descend from the strairs uh oh! They don't look too happy, Diya said a cold hello while Uday made a funny face. Her and her Di followed their cousins up the stairs to their would be rooms.

"Ok listen up both of you, I don' t mind you staying in my house as long as you stay out of my way especially in college, it's bad enough that I have to tolerate you 2 in my home but I just can't stand having you both around in college you get that" Diya bellowed the moment they entered a room. Gunjan looked at her Di who was ready to burst and immediately held her hand. Nupur Bhushan was known to be a firecracker and Gunjan didn't want any fireworks on their first day!

"Well this is your new room, those are your beds, that is your bathroom that is your window and that.. "

"Oh Shut Up Dodo, come on let's go let them settle in" Diya barked and left the room with Uday marching behind her like a loyal dog.

"By God Gunjan if you hadn't stopped me I would have shown Ms. Hoity-Toity what I am all about!"

"Oh Come on Di they are our cousins remember what Papa said we have to get along as this is our home now." Gunjan looked at her Di depressingly as tears filled both their eyes, they hugged and silently sobbed rembering Morena.

"So did you call him before we left?" Nupur finally asked wiping her tears.

"Yes Di I did but he never picked up so I left a voicemail telling him we are coming to Mumbai today and will be at the college tomorrow, but he already knows about us coming and had promised he would be waiting for us at the enterance."

"By God I am so glad at least we can trust somebody in this city" Gunjan smiled sweetly at her sisters remark. She had known him since she was 15 and he 16, his Nana-Nani lived in Morena in fact they had been their neighbors, she had never seen him before because he never visited but he did then and every year after that since his mother passed away. He said his Nana-Nani's house had his mothers memories since she grew up there and this was his way of staying close to her.

She remembered how they had first met, she was a regular visitor at his grandparents home their doors were always open for her well they were actually open for everybody, Morena was a small town where people knew eachother and leaving your house doors open was a normal thing. His grandparents had the prettiest garden she loved sitting under the cherry blossom tree and read, especially when Di was in her dancing mode and had to have the music blasting so she could practice. It was one such day that she had walked in with her book in hand when she had slipped on some water, she had immediately closed her eyes expecting to hit rock bottom when she felt her self in someone's arms. Opening her eyes she saw him grinning at her, she was shocked who was this boy and what was he doing in this house.

"CHOR CHOR CHOR" she pushed him hard forcing him to fall on his butt as she ran around the house trying to find someone. Hearing the commotion the elderly couple came out holding 2 fat sticks, Gunjan ran and hid behind them.

"Where is he beta where is the chor" the old man asked looking quizically at Gunjan who was peeking from behind his shoulders.

"There" she said nervously pointing at the boy who was still sitting on the floor in shock. The next thing she knew the couple started laughing their bums off and to her horror the boy joined in too!

"Nanaji who is this police waali?" he asked looking directly at her

"Beta this is Gunjan she is our neighbor, she has never seen you na that is why she thought you were a chor" the old lady said smiling while helping her grandson up "Gunjan beta he is no chor he is our grandson, he is visiting for the summer from Mumbai"

Gunjan looked at them horrified how stupid could she had been, making a fool of herself running around the house yelling chor. She hesitently shook his hand that he offered so politely.

"I am sorry I.." she stammered

"Don't worry it happeneds no hard feelings" she looked up at him appreciating his niceness. After the initial awkwardness due to her stupidity she had found her self comfortably chatting away the evening with him. She had never spoken to a guy before in fact apart from her Di she had no friends, this guy was truly something he had made her feel so relaxed.

They met everday that summer, taking walks, buying ice cream, sitting by the lake to chat, going to the playground where he would push her swing. She missed him terribly when he left but he promised to visit every holiday, and he kept his word, even if it was just for a few days he would come and spend time with her as promised. They had become good friends, he had even hit it off with her Di, but always had a special bond with her. He often spoke about his mom something she knew he couldn't do with anyone else he liked that she listened he said and that had made her feel so special.

It was her 21st birthday and he had surprised her by visiting, he had dragged her to their favorite spot, the lake at midnight and asked her to be his girlfriend. She was astounded at first but he truth was even she liked him, heck she loved him; he was the only man who made her feel beautiful and feminine and he was the only man she could picture her life with.

"Yes" she said Yes! He swooped her in his strong arms and planted a light kiss on her forhead before hiding her in his arms.

"Gunjan?" Nupur said shaking her "where are you lost silly girl come on we have to unpack tomorrow is a big day"

She sighed as she placed her suitcase on the bed, it had been 4 months since she had seen him and now she would see him everyday...God how she missed him?her SAMRAT

Thank you all for the wonderful comments, I am glad to all have liked the story so far I just hope I can live up to your expectations!! I will update Part 3 sometime next week, until then have a nice weekend!!

PART 2

She had been up since 5 am fidgeting with her self and her things, Nervous!

But he hadn't called! OMG how could he call he doesn't have your new number!! Hitting herself lightly on the head she smiled the smile fading as soon as she turned to see her Di still sleeping, how could her sister sleep so peacefully?? And here she was fighting the havoc in her mind and gut. God, how she wanted to just rush into his arms and hide herself he always made her feel so safe and protected, she rubbed her arms smiling and thinking of his warm embrace.

It took another 15 minutes for her to coax her sister to wakeup and another 45 for her to get ready. The breakfast had not been very pleasant either Diya was super ticked at having to take Gunjan and Nupur to college everyday, "why couldn't they take the rickshaw" she had retorted only to be yelled at by her dad that Gunjan and Nupur would do no such thing and will accompany Diya and Uday in Diya's car.

Now here she was sitting quietly watching Mumbai pass by as Diya drove them to college, she felt her heart beat faster as she saw the huge sign for EXCEL COLLEGE approach. Oh God this is it! Her new college a new beginning, will she fit in?

Her Eyes searched frantically for him as she got out of the car, where was he? He said he would be waiting by the gate!

"Gunjan! Gunjan! Come on we have to meet the principal and pick up our schedules" her Di exclaimed while literally dragging her away "But Di.." was all she could manage to say before Nupur cut in "Relax Gunjan we will look for him once we have met the principal, OK!" "Ok Di" she mumbled half heartedly, God if only her Di knew how much she missed him.

Thankfully the meeting with the principal had been short and sweet, he handed them their schedules and encouraged them to explore the campus and make friends. As they stepped out they were almost run over by a wild crowd, she heard them chanting "SAMMY! SAMMY!"

Before she could think she heard her sister ask one of the students the reason for the commotion and about SAMMY!

"We won the Basket ball Game against St. Xavier's yesterday and it's all because of Sammy; God Sammy is THE hottest guy in this entire college and not to mention the BEST basket ball captain!!" The girl gushed going on and on about how cool and how handsome this SAMMY was and how every girl in Excel dies for him.

Gunjan saw Nupur roll her eyes as the girl kept going and going non-stop like the energizer bunny. Suddenly the girl stopped and screamed at the top her lungs "OMG THERE HE IS! THERE'S SAMMY"

Gunjan felt her heart stop and world spin as her eyes fell on SAMMY! She felt numb so numb that she couldn't even feel her sister shaking her exclaiming excitedly "Gunjan OMG did you see? Sammy is your Samrat!" Gunjan had seen that but what she had also seen was the number of girls dressed in short skirts and dresses exposing as much skin as possible hovering over him. She saw how comfortable Samrat was chatting away flirting shamelessly with all the pancake face girls that stood clutching him. She looked down at her self dressed in a plain white Churidaar, her glasses intact and absolutely no trace of makeup on her face. Was this really her Samrat? No! No! this was not the Samrat she knew and loved! This Samrat was cool suave almost GODLIKE, while her Samrat had been sweet and NORMAL!

One Minute she was standing next to her sister almost dead and cold and the next minute she was drowning in the warmth of his eyes. The moment he had heard the name "Gunjan" his eyes had immediately shot up and there she was dressed in a white churidaar looking absolutely angelic. He smiled to himself at her choice of color; he had told her how much he loved her in white since it matched with her milky skin. Almost as in a trance he shoved the girls off him and moved towards her, oh how he wanted to just run to her and engulf her in his arms, but what's this why does she look so unhappy? Is she not as thrilled to me see as I am her? We're seeing each other after 4 months and this is the reaction I get from her? Before he could move any further he felt him self being dragged away in a completely different direction from her.

She saw him being dragged away by Diya and felt her heart shatter in to a million pieces. She clutched her books to her chest as tears stung her eyes.

"By God Gunjan your are so lucky, YOUR Samrat is THE SAMMY, the hot and happening dude of Excel College, OMG I just can't get over this?" Nupur went on and on not realizing the pain her sister was going through with her every word. "Gunjan what?s the matter why are you so quiet? Oh forget it come on we have to get to class and by god that khadoos principal we have absolutely no classes together! Chal I will see you during break ok" With that Nupur almost skipped away to class leaving a disheartened Gunjan behind.

She looked down at her schedule with a solemn expression and started walking towards her class, she had almost made it until she felt herself being pulled to a empty corner almost knocking the breath right out of her. Before she could scream and yell for help she felt a hand on her mouth.

"Shhhh Chashmish it's me" he said pulling his hand away from her mouth

"SAMRAT"

He didn't let her continue before she could utter another word he pulled her into his arms with such a force that her head landed perfectly on his chest. She sensed the passion in the hug and the love in the hug. She felt him tighten his hold as she raised her arms to hug him back, closing her eyes FINALLY she felt comfort, yes this was the comfort she was looking for, maybe everything was going to be alright indeed!

PART 3

"God how I missed you" He whispered huskily while not breaking the hug. "I missed you too" She was surprised at how easily that had come out, she wasn't the very expressive kind her confession had not just surprised her but Samrat as well who immediately broke the hug. He looked at her intently and gently pushing her glasses up on her nose asked excitedly "Really"

"Hmm" was all she could manage, but before she could feel the warmth of his embrace again she heard an unfamiliar voice calling his name.

"Oh I had completely forgotten about Benji, he's going to kill me, sorry sweetheart but I'll have to go"

"But Samrat I wanted to talk to you" she pleaded

"Even I have a lot to tell you honey, but right now I really have to go, but I promise I will see you during lunch break ok!" Before she could utter another word she felt his lips on her forehead and then within an instant he was gone.

She felt as she always did when he left her; EMPTY! She absentmindedly caressed her forehead where he had kissed her and smiled. But, she still had so much to say to him, so much to ask, the questions came flooding back along with the apprehensions, but right now she had to get to class, she was a very studious girl and hence had never been late to class, letting out a quick sigh she quickly left.

She had just crossed the threshold of her classroom and felt the 25 pair of eyes on her, scrutinizing her from top to bottom "breath Gunjan breath" she told herself "so what if they are looking at you as if you are some alien from Mars, you just keep breathing, yes that's it Gunjan in and out in and out, now walk, walk to a empty seat like a good girl." She found a empty seat next to a very skimpy looking girl but just as she was about to sit down the girl immediately put her stuff on the empty seat. "Sorry this seat is taken" The girl replied rather curtly.

Gunjan heard a few students snicker and immediately felt the panic rise, but before the worse could occur she heard a rather tall gothic looking girl wave her hand gesturing her to sit next to her. Gunjan felt relief run through her system as she sat next to the girl with the weird attire.

"Hi, I am Sanjana, but every one calls me Sanju" the girl announced

"Gunjan, everyone calls me Gunjan"

The girl chuckled "you're too innocent" Gunjan smiled sweetly as she remembered how Samrat and her Di always said the same thing to her.

The class had started and Gunjan was beginning to settle in pretty well, Sanju had been very sweet and helpful through out, Gunjan finally felt her body and mind relax. As the class ended Sanju wished Gunjan luck for her next class and told her to look her up if she needed any help. Gunjan was thankful to her new friend and started collecting her books when she felt her body stiffen at the mention of his name.

"What do you think of my new dress" It was the same girl who hadn't allowed Gunjan to sit next to her, she was surrounded by 2 other girls who were dressed just as trashy.

"Wow it?s very nice" replied the other 2

"Thanks, Sammy liked it too, he told me how beautiful I looked this morning, he's such a bad boy you know, God I really hope he asks me for the college dance" She blushed crimson

"Don't get your hopes up I don't think Diya will let anyone come near Sammy, she's so chipku and so possessive, she always goes around announcing how Sammy is only hers!" One of the 2 said making a face.

Gunjan felt the tears stinging again as the 3 girls left giving her a grimy look. What was going on? Did Sammy really like girls in short short clothes? He must have it was obvious from the way he was happily letting the girls cling to him in the morning. But then what about her? What was he doing with her? Was she just his Morena Time Pass? No No that can't be didn't he just tell her that he missed her, but then what about Diya didn't the girls just say she was going around saying Sammy was hers. God she was so confused!

The rest of the morning passed in a blur, Gunjan was mostly lost in her own thoughts but she didn't miss the disapproving looks the others gave her. It seemed as if no girl in Excel ever wore salwaar suits. She felt so out of place here and missed Morena terribly. She was thankful when lunchtime came and even more thankful when she found Nupur.

"Di have you seen how everyone stares at us, why do you think that is so"

"By God Gunjan what kind of question is that, obviously they will look at us, look how nicely we are dressed and look that those poor girls with phatte kapde"

Gunjan smiled despite herself, her Di's bantering always cheered her up. They found themselves an empty table and settled down for lunch. They both heard the loud noises and looked up to see Samrat enter with his friends and around them were girls, lots and lots of short-skirt-wearing-extra-skin-revealing-pancaked-face GIRLS!

Gunjan bright face suddenly became ashen which was not missed by Nupur. "He's very popular na Gunjan" Gunjan looked up to meet her gaze and nodded slightly. "Are you ok? Has he spoken to you yet?" Nupur asked feeling for her sister

"I am fine Di, and no we haven't had a chance to speak yet" she replied dejectedly. It was just as if god had been listening or rather Samrat had been listening since he was headed there way!

"Hi Nupur, Hi Chashmish" he announced excitedly it was if it was upon reflex but at that exact moment the entire college turned around to stare. She heard the whispers and the giggles and then looked up at Samrat who was by now seated comfortably next to her not caring for the world.

"Hi Samrat how are you? By God you have turned out to be a hero, Gunjan and I have been left stumped" Nupur went on chirpily.

Samrat who by now was used to blocking out Nupur focused entirely on Gunjan who was looking rather down. He gently took hold of her hand under the table making her look at him and asked worriedly "what's the matter sweetheart?" Gunjan felt her heartbeat increase if him holding her hand was not enough then the caring look he was giving her now would definitely kill her, any moment now she could feel death coming to take her away to Samratland! She nodded her head in the negative but he didn't look convinced. She felt him come close to her and whisper "Meet me at the same place we met this morning in 10 minutes, please, I'll be waiting" with that he continued his conversation with Nupur and left shortly thereafter but not without giving her a meaningful look.

She hated lying but she had to and going to the library to study had been the perfect excuse to give Nupur who cringed and let her go on her own. As she walked towards the same spot she once again felt herself being pulled but this time she was not surprised she knew it was him. He gripped her hand tight and took her all the way behind the building and there he cupped her face and asked once again with worry written all over his face.

"What's the matter Gunjan? Did someone say something you? Huh?"

Oh no the tears were coming back why did he have to act so caring didn't he know the effect it had on her. She immediately lowered her head hoping he wouldn't see

'Tell me Jaan what?s the matter?" He lifted her face from her chin and saw the tears ready to spill out.

"Gunjan, what's wrong sweetheart" highly scared now he waited for her to reply but instead he heard a muffled sob and she ran in to his arms crying loudly. He held on tight perhaps tighter than usual with panic and fear, he tried to hush her but it was of no use.

"Did you know I was going to introduce you to everyone as my girlfriend today?" he said trying to cheer up but instead he felt her stiffen in his arms and immediately leave his embrace.

"NO" she whispered horrified, backing away from him

"No? What do you mean no Gunjan?" he asked confused, waiting for her to reply

"No Samrat we, we can't tell anyone about us" she finally managed

"What? What are you saying? Why can't we tell everyone?" annoyed now wanting answers

"Because I said so Samrat, we can?t tell anyone about us, anyone at all" She said a little loudly this time trying to get her point across.

"But why? Why Not? you can?t do this Gunjan" he looked helpless now what was she saying what was wrong? Why couldn?t they tell anyone? He had been waiting for this day ever since he asked her out and she accepted then why was she backing away?

"I am sorry Samrat, but please try to understand" and with that she ran tears still running down her face. "No Gunjan I am sorry because I can't understand" he whispered watching her receding figure.

Part 4

"Gunjan what the hell is wrong with you?" Nupur nearly screamed, they had gotten home an hour ago and unfortunately Samrat had told Nupur everything. Nupur couldn't understand why her sister was shoving away the man who loved her the most.

"Di, please not you too" Gunjan pleaded

"Be quiet Gunjan and let me finish, I want know what your problem is, Samrat is so sweet and caring! And By God he loves you like anything, I saw that today Gunjan he was so hurt when you ditched him like that, how could do that? What were you thinking" Nupur had almost said that in one breath and was now huffing and puffing for air.

"Di, can't you see, Samrat is so popular, he is so outgoing and witty and charming and did I mention he is the CAPTAIN of the basket ball team!. I mean he is like a greek god to the entire college, and me have you seen me Di I am a nobody, did you see the way people look at me, it's like as if I am not a person but instead an alien. Nobody would accept us, No body would ACCEPT ME!! The college king hooking up with the college nerd only looks good in movies Di not in real life." Gunjan looked at her Di with tears hoping she would understand her plight and not push this matter further.

"No Gunjan I can't see, I can't see what you are trying to show me, but what I can see is that Samrat loves you unconditionally. I think you are making a mistake Gunjan a very big mistake." With that Nupur walked out of the room.

The tears were flowing freely now as she sat on the bed to weep. It had been hard very hard to say what she had said to Samrat. She loved him and knew he loved her too, but his society was different, his lifestyle was different, she could never fit in and what if Samrat got tired of her, fed up of her simple ways. How could she forget his friends the way they looked at her loathingly, how long would Samrat tolerate that, eventually he would have to choose between her and his friends and she would never want to put him in such a spot. Samrat was used to people hovering over him, while she preferred seclusion, they were poles apart, it would never work out, so it was better that she put an end to it was better to stay away.

It was sound of footsteps near her window that had jolted her from her thought and to her horror there he stood, the man she had just vowed to stay away from. She jumped to her feet and ran up to him shock and worry written all over her face.

"SAMRAT? What are you doing here"

"I need to talk to you Gunjan" he said that so casually that it almost surprised her. His face however said a different story. He looked angry and sad, she could tell he had cried and that caused a stabbing pain in her heart to erupt.

"Please Samrat you shouldn't have come like this, what if someone sees you, please leave" she begged trying to push him out, but he would not budge, instead he gripped her shoulders and trapped her in between the wall and him.

"What is your problem Gunjan? Why are you doing this to me?" he was furious now and she knew he was trying hard to suppress himself from yelling.

"Samrat please let me go, you're hurting me" she winced at the pain in her arms but he refused to let go, instead he brought himself closer to her.

"Oh so you feel your pain but what about mine! Do you have any idea what I have been through since you left me this afternoon? I want answers Gunjan and you are going to give them to me right now!"

She was scared now in fact terrified and a fresh load tears were streaming out, Samrat had never spoken to her like this. But he was right he had the right to know and so she would tell him and end everything!

"Did you know Samrat that the entire college thinks I am a freak? Did you see the way people stare and snicker? They think of me like a disease Samrat and you, you are the king of the entire college, they love you! You and I Samrat are so different; no one would ever accept US! They'll laugh at us Samrat, they'll laugh at you! I am not worthy of you Samrat, a person like you should not be seen with a person like me, so please Samrat spare yourself the humiliation" she sobbed

WTF? What was she saying what was she thinking? He let go of her arms and cupped her tear streaked face and spoke as softly and gently as possible ignoring the rush of emotions causing havoc inside of him.

"Gunjan, Sweetheart do you really think I care what people think about us? Do you really think that I will wait for my friends and peers to accept you before I announce you as my girl? I LOVE YOU Gunjan can't you see that! I love you more than anything in this entire world, I don't care what people think or say about you, what matters is what I think about you, and honey to me you are the most precious, the most pure and the most beautiful person in this entire world, so please jaan don't let these small worries come in the way of our relationship, please!"

He rested his forehead against hers and sighed of relief feeling certain he had resolved all of her acceptance issues, he pulled her close but stopped when he felt her hand on his chest prohibiting him from moving ahead, he gave her an incredulous look.

"Please Leave" she said sternly

"What?" he stared at her dumfounded trying to decipher if he had head what he thought he heard.

"I said please leave Samrat, I have had enough, It?s over" she had used all her courage, all her strength to say this.

For a moment Samrat only stared at her stern face, waiting for her to laugh and tell him it was a joke but when she didn't budge he felt the anger rise again and on an instant he grabbed her arms again and pushed her back against the wall.

"What did you just say? Huh? It's over, by hell it is Gunjan Bhushan, what the hell do you think of yourself? You actually think you saying it's over is going to make it over Ha! No damn way! It's not over Ms. Bhushan and it will never be!" with that he lunged forwards and captured her lips with his. The kiss was rough and painful, he ravaged her mouth not caring about her painful moans he was angry and she could tell, he had never kissed her before on the lips; this was her firs time but she felt his passion. It didn't take long for her to respond and to match the wild rhythm of his mouth. The kiss slowly turned soft and sweet and now she could feel his love, the pain was gone and a new sensation took over, she felt giddy and her body felt limp but he held her, he held her firmly against himself , both his arms possessively around her while she gripped his shirt and pulled him in closer deepening the kiss.

He let go and watched her as she stumbled and held on to the wall for support. She stared at him confusingly while he simply smirked

"You may have ended this relationship sweetheart, but I have not! You are still mine and always will be, you have seen Samrat?s love but now you?ll see his madness?

He gave her a quick flying kiss and left through the window just like he had come.

Part 5

Gunjan woke up dreading the day ahead, she had barely slept at night and now she would have to face HIM. Frowning she dragged her self up to get ready. Looking at her reflection in the mirror she wondered what Samrat saw in her. She had straight simple hair which she hardly did anything too, her skin was pale with not even a hint of blush, she had never attempted eye makeup and besides who would notice her eyes behind her glasses. She preferred wearing Indian suits rather than skirts or dresses; she wore jeans but only once in a while with family, so how could he possibly love her. Sighing she picked up her books and headed down.

Dia had been waiting 5 whole minutes and looked super pissed, while Uday was enjoying watching the re-runs of Tom and Jerry.

"Oh, so the princess has finally decided to come down, praise the lord" Dia spat sarcastically

"Sorry Dia"

"Sorry, is that all you could say? And where the hell is Nupur, I am getting late for cheerleading practice. Samrat is going to be so mad at me, my poor baby" Gunjan cringed as Dia blabbered on about her poor baby Samrat. Lucky for her Nupur stepped down right that instant.

"Sorry guys I couldn't find my matching pink hair clip and without it my suit would look so out of place with the hair na!" Everything was so normal Gunjan thought smiling, but then why couldn't she relax.

"Oh whatever, now come on let's go I am getting late, GET UP DODO!" Dia barged out of the house with Uday running behind her.

"By God how typical" Nupur made a face and followed suit.

Taking a deep breath Gunjan walked towards her class, no sign of Samrat, he must be with Dia and all those other girls, she frowned feeling a sharp pain in her heart. No, she won't be sad, this was his world and she had set him free. Wiping her tears she moved on. Suddenly she felt her self being pulled and dragged to a secluded place, she did not need to see who her kidnapper was. She already knew. He pinned her against the wall and aimed his lips straight for her exposed neck. She gasped but the sensation took over forcing her to close her eyes. She had never known Samrat could be so passionate but here he was surprising her everyday. She winced at the sweet pain as he slightly bit her leaving behind a mark but that did not stop him from torturing her. He continued his trail of kisses while she tried to keep her control.

Opening her mouth at last she stammered his name "S-s-samrat" He looked up at last. His eyes displayed nothing but passion and he looked almost drunk from it. She gulped and trying again opened her mouth to speak but he lunged forward hungrily and crushed his lips with hers. Dropping her books Gunjan felt her hands involuntarily go up to be tangled in his hair. She could feel the madness in the kiss the same passion that was in his eyes was now in his kiss she responded equally shutting her mind, letting her heart soar. He pulled her closer jamming his body with hers. He softened towards the end as he often did and let go gently. He quickly looked away but she had seen the tears that swam in his eyes. Turning towards her he slightly opened his arms and she came willingly.

They fit so perfectly she noted just like the 2 pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. She always felt so protected in his arms and as much as she loved that, she was hating it now. This was only making it even more difficult for her. Listening to his steady heartbeat she closed her eyes and her brain, for now all she wanted to do was loose herself in him.

"you have started this terrible game sweetheart, and I promise you it will be you who will end it, just remember, it might be over from your side but it's not over for me, I love you" Kissing the top of her head he let her go just as she had surrendered herself to him. Watching him go the tears finally left her eyes "I love you too Samrat"

He was mad. No. He was furious, but he loved her. He knew why she was doing this, of course he did. He knew her better than she knew herself but oh how he wished that she would just forget her apprehensions and tell the every one that they loved each other and couldn't imagine a world with out each other. He was disappointed though she didn't have enough faith in him, No. She didn't have enough faith in their love, and perhaps that's what hurt the most. Before anyone else could accept them as a couple, Gunjan had to first accept them as a couple, and he would make sure she does just that.

He had tried to keep away from her, he had promised himself that he would, but every time he saw her, he just wanted to grab her and whisk her away. He wanted to hide her in his arms and take her somewhere far away, where it would be just the two of them and their love. Oh, how he had dreamt of so many such evening with her, but now here he was without her. But, No he would still have his evening, she was still his and he had every right on her. He smiled to himself "Gunjan darling I will have you whenever I want"

She looked at her reflection in the mirror and gasped. The mark was huge, lifting her hand she gently rubbed it, she could still feel him on her, his aura surrounded her and made her crave him even more. Adjusting her duppatta she tried her best to hide her mark, lucky for her, he hair came in handy. Once satisfied she picked up her books and headed for class.

"OyeSamrat, what are you doing man?" Benji yelled from the bleachers

He had missed every basket in the last half hour, and the game was this evening. He tried the best he could but couldn't concentrate. His heart was not in the game how could it be when it was beating in someone else.

"Samrat Baby what's the matter?" Dia cupped his face in her palms

Dia, was another problem, she was a sweet girl but too chipku. He knew she had basically announced to everyone in the college that he was hers; if only she knew he chuckled. How would she react when she discovered that he was Gunjan's? Her own cousin was the owner of him and the ruler his heart, how would she react he wondered? He didn't want to hurt her, she was his friend, but what could he do, he himself had no control over his heart.

"Samrat, what happened" Dia shook him out of his daze "What's the matter baby? You have missed every basket, if you keep this up we will surely loose tonight" she pouted.

He gently pushed her away and went back to retrieve the ball, which had traveled to the far end of the court. Dia felt insulted and barged out.

"Gunjan, Gunjan, hurry up and come with me, Samrat has gotten hurt"

"What? How? When? Is he ok?" Panic kicked in immediately, leaving her lunch behind she ran towards the gym.

He felt her, right before he was about to make the shot the wind brought in her fragrance. He Shot and he scored!

"Thank God you are alright Sammy? I was getting worried that you had lost your touch" Benji placed a hand on his heart and heaved a sigh of relief, he knew what was wrong with Sammy and he also knew who could make it better.

"What is going on Benji,, I thought you said Samrat was hurt?" Gunjan's eyes wandered confusingly from Benji to Samrat; who grinned shamelessly.

"He was hurt, you should have seen him a few minutes ago he was missing every basket, it was so painful" Benji announced making a dramatic pose

"huh" Gunjan still didn't understand

"Uff Gunjan you don't understand anything, see he was hurt na, but the hurt was not physical it was internal" Benji smiled and pointed to his heart

Gunjan's mouth opened in shock, did this mean that Benji knew? She looked over at Samrat who stood smirking with folded arms. She suddenly felt so stupid.

"Don't worry Gunjan I won't tell anyone, I haven't told anyone in 5 years, but you have to promise me something first"

Gunjan had been looking down embarrassed suddenly shot her head up to meet Benji's gaze

"what?"

"No you have to promise first"

"Ok I promise"

Benji jumped and clapped his hands "Great, I will pick you up at 7"

"What?" her mouth opened in shock again, She looked at Samrat questioningly but he merely shrugged his shoulders and acted as if he had no idea.

"For the game Gunjan, you know Sammy's game" He announced winking at Sammy

"What the game and me, but.."

"Oh Fo, Gunjan don't you realize, when you are away, Sammy plays terribly but the moment you walked in he scored!" Benji said cheerfully "and he really misses you Gunjan, so please say you'll come" he added quietly

"Ok, I'll come" she swallowed hard to suppress her sob

"Great, I'll be there at 7 ok, bye and thank you so much" Benji ranted excitedly and left the courtroom leaving Sammy and Gunjan behind.

Samrat walked up to her and lifted her chin, leaning down he gave her a soft gentle kiss

"Thanks Jaan" he whispered sweetly in her ear and left

Walking towards the locker room he couldn't help but smile, Benji was the best!! He was the only person Sammy trusted. Benji knew of Sammy's love for Gunjan even before Sammy knew himself, in fact it had been Benji who had convinced Sammy to propose her on her birthday. Sammy had told Benji about Gunjan's plight and Benji had vowed to help. Like today Benji knew why he was missing his baskets and had brought Gunjan to the court without even giving Sammy a hint of what he was up to. Stepping in to the shower he hooted in delight as the cold water hit his naked body, she was coming to his game. He had practiced basket ball many times in front of her, even with her in Morena. She liked watching him play. He knew because she had told him so, but today she would actually watch him compete. He was super excited and couldn't wait for the evening.

Part 6

"Di I can't do this, I am calling Benji and cancelling!" Gunjan announced for the umpteenth time

"By God Gunjan, you really are hopeless aren't you" Fed up with her sister Nupur plopped on the bed, they had been having this back and forth discussion for an hour, Nupur would convince Gunjan but 5 minutes later Gunjan would go back to chanting I am not going. Sighing Nupur decided to give it one last try, if Gunjan still refused to go then fine she can sit here all by herself all evening. "Look Gunjan it's 6:30 already Benji is probably on his way, and what did he tell you, if you don't come we are sure to loose the game, so please for the sake of the college Gunjan please go!" Nupur folded her hands and begged

"But Di, what will I do by myself, I don't even know anyone" Urgh why couldn't her Di understand

"By God, who told you, you are going to be alone? I will be there na"

"what Di you are going, but with who?"

"Mayank" Nupur blushed slightly saying his name

"Mayank? The boy who you are paired up with for the biology project?"

"Yes, that Mayank, he's a really nice guy and he asked if I would like to accompany him to the game and I said yes" Nupur blushed profusely now thinking of Mayank and the way he asked her.

"Awwwwwww Di you like him" Gunjan was thrilled. Her Di was very particular about everything, especially boys!"

"Yea, I kind of do, I mean he is not a Hot Shot like your Samrat, but he is no less" Nupur announced dreamily

"He's not my Samrat Di" Gunjan added dejectedly

"Oh yes how could I foget, I mean DIA'S Samrat, are you happy now" Nupur stated annoyed Sometimes she really wondered how Samrat handled Gunjan. Gunjan was too apprehensive about everything a cautious queen while Samrat was outgoing and popular, they were so different yet so in love. Getting up she walked over to where Gunjan stood staring into space. "At least go for your love Gunjan, you know very well Samrat's eyes will be searching for only you in the crowd, don't disappoint him"

Gunjan sat down infront of the dresser, and thought over what Nupur had just said and earlier what Benji had said. She didn't want Samrat to loose because of her and so she will go.

"Gunjan Benji is here, come down quick" Nupur yelled down from the hall.

Taking a deep breath Gunjan walked down and saw a excited Benji. She really liked the guy he was sweet and so caring especially towards Samrat. It was no wonder Samrat had told him about them, Benji was trustworthy.

"Ready to go Bhabhi, oops I mean Gunjan" he bit his tongue and scolded himself for the blunder, he always teased Sammy by referring to Gunjan as Bhabhi but he hadn't meant for Gunjan to know, well at least not right now.

Gunjan gave him a curious glance and followed his lead. "But Di you.."

"Mayank should be here any minute Gunjan you go ahead and I promise I will meet you there" Nupur gave her sister a quick hug and literally pushed her out the door. "Thank God she went, now where the hell is that Mayank, I don't want to miss my first game"

They entered the college stadium to see it packed, the band played the music loudly as the cheerleaders showed off their skills. Nupur and Mayank had made it right behind them. They followed Benji as he took them to their seats. There was so much noise that they had to literally yell in order to hear. Benji bid them a hasty goodbye and went to the floor where the players were about to come out.

The announcer finally hushed the crazy crowd and announced the home team, giving a special mention to Samrat. The crowd went wild as they saw Sammy emerge, but Sammy's eyes searched frantically for her. He looked over at Benji who pointed to her direction. He couldn't help but gush with happiness when he saw her. She wore blue; his favorite color and looked absolutely breathtaking. Benji smiled seeing his friends face, Sammy was his best friend almost brother and his happiness was Benji's priority. Benji knew Sammy trusted him with his life, hence he didn't oppose to the idea of Benji bringing Gunjan to the game, because Gunjan was Sammy's life. It appalled him at first; how could a cool dude like Sammy fall for a simple Gunjan. Gunjan was pretty no doubt but compared to the other girls who swooned for Sammy, Gunjan was plain. Love is blind he chuckled, and boy in this case it surely was!

Gunjan's heart raced every time Sammy had the ball, the anticipation of who the winner might be was killing her. She didn't want Sammy to loose. She rubbed her sweaty palms on her suit and bit her lower lip. God this was killing her. Please god make him win, please don't let my love loose.

"Oye Gunjan what's the matter with you?" Nupur nudged her forcing her to open her eyes

"I am nervous Di"

"Pagal why are you nervous, you aren't even playing" Nupur chuckled

Yes, but he was, she murmured to herself. Suddenly she saw the player from the other team push Sammy and he literally went up 2 inches before he fell down hard. Gunjan felt her heart stop as she joined the entire stadium by standing. Oh no, he's hurt, oh god please let him be okay, she prayed vigorously holding in her tears. Look at me Samrat, please look at me, let me see if you are ok. As if hearing her pleas she saw him turn towards her, their eyes met for a brief second and then he winked blowing her a kiss. The girls in her section screamed in delight and Sammy grinned shamelessly.

The referee called foul and Sammy was given 2 free shots, it was perfect. It was the end of the last quarter and they needed 2 points to win. The other team looked furiously at the player who hung his head in shame. Sammy walked up closer to the court, the cheerleaders headed by Dia screamed his name

"Give me an S-

Give me an A

Throw me 2 M's

and pass me a Y

what do we get??"

The crowd yelled SAMMY!!!!

Samrat made the 2 shots with ease, the buzzer rang, game was up they had won! The crowd ran out of their seats to lift Sammy off the ground. Gunjan folded her hands and thanked god for listening to her. Sammy looked in her direction and watched her pray, he knew everyone in the stadium had prayed for him to win but only she had prayed for his wellness.

Nupur dragged Gunjan down to congratulate Sammy, who was finally standing on the ground with Benji on his side.

"By God Samrat that was awesome!!" Nupur said gushing like a school girl

"Great Game man, Congrats!" Mayank stuck his hand out which Sammy took willingly.

"Aren't you going to say anything Ms. Chashmish" Sammy looked at Gunjan playing with her dupatta, she looked up and met his intense gaze.

"Congrats" she whispered being barely audible

He smiled and whispered something to Benji before walking away.

"Ah Nupur you don't mind if I take Gunjan away from you would you, I promise I will drop her home safe and sound" Benji asked hopefully

Nupur smiled and nodded her head and then clinging to Mayank's jacket walked away. Gunjan looked at Benji curiously, now where was he taking her.

"Come Bha?no Gunjan, you know I was thinking maybe I can call you Bhabz this way everyone will think I am calling you babez"

"No Benji, please just call me Gunjan and where are we going" she looked around the empty room that he had brought her in.

"OMG Bhabz I'll be right back, stay here and don't move I completely forgot something" Benji hit his head and ran out before Gunjan could ask any more questions.

Oh god now what, where had he brought her and why? She felt someone's arm snake around her from behind, gasping she opened her mouth to scream only to have it covered by a strong hand.

"Shhhh Chashmish don't scream it's me" he whispered in to her ears

She closed her eyes in relief and turned around to face him. He looked smelled fresh out of the shower, and had changed in to a white tee and jeans. "Why are we here Samrat"

"Well, let's just say I wasn't happy with your bland congrats, which let me tell you could barely be heard, you need to speak up jaan" he cupped her face and let his thumb trail over her soft skin.

"Samrat please" she whispered fearing what he would do next

"Please what Gunjan" he whispered leaning in to capture her lips.

The kiss was extremely soft and so gentle that she wanted to weep. His hands gently rubbed her waist as her hands found a way around his neck. The kiss was perfect and full of nothing but sheer longing. They broke apart and looked lovingly into each others eyes.

"I love you" he said softly not wanting to break the perfect moment

"I love you too Samrat" She saw him smile oh no! what did she say???

"That's it I am telling everyone that we love each other" he announced merrily pulling apart

"NO" she almost screamed "No we can't tell anyone, not a soul"

"What the hell Gunjan I can't take this anymore, I don't want to hide you, I don't want to hide my love, why is it so hard for you to understand?" he was mad again but she didn't care right now

"why is it hard for you to understand Samrat, I said it was over, there is nothing between us now please let's drop it." Gunjan spat back

"Oh so there's nothing between huh, then why the hell do you get so caught up when I kiss you, or come near you for that matter, why do you shake at my slightest touch? There is a lot between us Gunjan you just don't want to accept it, but 2 can play this game, I will make sure you are around me whenever I want and I will see who will stop me." He gave her a venomous stare and walked away.

The next day Samrat hovered around her like anything, making everyone highly suspicious and Gunjan highly uncomfortable. During break time he came towards her table with his band of admirers.

"Oh Chashmish, your sister was telling me you make an excellent Rangoli" he stated nonchalantly leaving his admirers to wonder what he was talking about. "Anyways I was wondering if you could come by my house tomorrow and decorate it for me, Diwali is the day after tomorrow and I wanted to decorate my house you know"

"Samrat, what are you saying, baby you could have asked me" Dia went towards him and linked her arms with his.

"Dia darling do you even know how to spell Rangoli?" Benji said sarcastically making the whole couple to crack up

To her relief the bell rang and she sprang from her seat to leave without responding. He caught up with her before she entered class, alone this time.

"Uh you'll come na Gunjan? Um it's my first diwali at my own house after Mum, and usually I would come to Morena?to you know? celebrate with you and my grandparents, but I wanted to celebrate at home this year so" He looked down trying to hide his tears.

She heard the sincerity in his voice and the mention of his mom made her tear up too. She knew his plea was genuine there fore she just couldn't say no.

"Ok Samrat I'll come"

PART 7

After a lot of contemplation she had decided not to go over to Samrat's. Of course this had led to a major argument with Nupur who kept repeating how bad Samrat would feel especially after Gunjan herself had said she would come. All of Nupur's yelling and persuasion had fallen on death ears. Gunjan refused to accompany Benji and had sent him back alone. Nupur screamed in aggravation and went down stairs slamming the door to display her anger.

"Gunjan I am going over to Mayank's" Nupur yelled from downstairs. Their papa had to leave for Dehradun for business, this was the first time they would be spending Diwali apart and she missed him terribly. Uncle was nice, but Papa was Papa, besides Uncle had business parties to attend. He had wished them in the morning and had headed out for the day. Even Diya and Uday had parties to attend, that would leave Gunjan alone at home.

It was better this way, but then why couldn't she stop the tears from flowing? Closing her eyes she saw Samrat, she really missed him. For the past 5 years they had happily spent every diwali together in Morena and now that she was here, so close to him, she couldn't be with him. Covering her face with her hands she sobbed uncontrollably.

"Gunjan"

She turned around instantaneously astounded and scared. There he was. The love of her life, walking towards her.

"Samrat" it was a barely a whisper but it was all she could manage, his current presence had her shocked to such an extent that for a moment she thought it was an illusion. "What are you doing here?" realizing he was real panic kicked in.

He cupped her face and kissed off her tears. Bringing his lips closer to her ears he whispered huskily "Tere dar par sanam, chale aaye, tu na aaya toh hum chale aaye" It was the line of her favorite song, Samrat would always sing it to her when he'd visit Morena, he would tease her of how he always comes to her because she never comes to him.

She looked at him as a fresh load of tears sprung from her eyes. "Why didn't you come Gunjan? you said you would" he met her gaze, his eyes displaying the same emotion and the same pool that flew from hers.

"Samrat please"

"No Gunjan, no Samrat please, at least not today" with that he lifted from her feet and threw her over his shoulders.

"Samrat, what are you doing? Where are you taking me? Samrat please please put me down" her pleas went ignored as she kicked her feet in retaliation

He opened the passenger side door and threw her in, ignoring her requests to her let go. Starting the car he sped off to the direction of his house. He had had enough, when Benji had returned without her he had felt a sharp pain in his heart. How could she do this? She had told him that she would come? Even after knowing that it was his first Diwali without his Mom she had still refused to come! It was time he took matters in his own hand. If she wouldn't come by herself then he would bring her.

He looked over at her direction she had calmed down now. She was not sad anymore, instead she was mad. Sitting with her arms crossed at her chest she refused to look at him. He let his gaze wander from her head to her toe. She had worn a gorgeous peach sari with heavy silver embroidery and beads. It was the first time he had seen her in a sari and he had to admit she looked ravishing. Her matching jewelry glittered in the dark, especially her maang tika, which he was starting to love. Her hair looked different, she had styled them different and from the bottom they were curled, he liked it but he preferred her straight hair better. The way they flew in the breeze would always make his heart flutter. Something was still different though, he looked at her intently and realized that she was not wearing her glasses. He smiled pulling up on his driveway.

Gunjan sat up immediately as the car came to a stop. She looked at the fully decorated house and smiled inwardly. She had always wanted to see Sammy's house but not in these circumstances. Letting her self out she followed Sammy to the entrance, only to be stopped by him at the threshold.

"Just one minute Gunjan" she watched him disappear in to the house, only to re appear a few minutes later with a Pooja ki thal in his hand. She looked at him incredulously as he did her aarti, the tears were brimming again, and when she followed his gaze to the floor where stood a pot of rice, they escaped her eyes. Kicking the pot over, she stepped into the house, right foot first.

"I know if mom was here, she would have welcomed you this way, come let me show you your house, I mean my house" he smiled weakly and led her upstairs.

The house was huge and beautiful but lacked life. There seemed to be emptiness in every nook and corner. Every wall was adorned with beautiful paintings and artifacts but even then they seemed lonely. The large chandeliers illuminated the whole house, but even then it seemed dark.

"And this is my room" he grinned and opened the door. He watched as her mouth hung open and why wouldn't it be, his walls were filled with nothing but pictures of her and them.

She looked around dumfounded, so many pictures of them but most of them were just hers, laughing, frowning, reading, even dancing which she hardly did but when it rained she just couldn't help her self. Walking closer to his bed her eyes fell on the large picture that adorned wall area right above his bed. It was a picture of them taken by Nupur on their 3rd Diwali. He had surprised Gunjan by decorating the gazebo that rested near the lake with lights. She was wearing a light blue lehnga-choli which he had gifted her obviously to match his light blue sherwani. The picture was taken at the perfect moment, he was sitting on his knee holding a rose which she shyly was accepting. Gazing in to his eyes lovingly, the second her hand had touched the rose; which was still in his hands, Nupur had clicked the picture. The copy she had was small and now looking at a poster size version she realized how breathtaking the picture was. Due to the night, the lights blurred making the picture more enchanting and standing in the middle of the lighted gazebo were 2 young lovers, expressing their love.

Sammy held her from behind and rested his head on her shoulder. "It's beautiful na" he asked nuzzling in to her neck.

"hmmm" Gunjan smiled recovering from the flashback.

"So, did you like the room?"

"Yes, it's very nice and very organized" she smiled looking at his neat closet and dresser.

"Good, after all it'll be yours after marriage" he winked

She gave him a you're incorrigible look and rolled her eyes.

"Is there no one else at home?" she wondered looking around

"No, Papa is in the U.S. for business and all the servants are off due to diwali" he replied sadly

"And what about your dinner?" she asked concerned

"I'll order it from a restaurant and eat later" he replied shrugging his shoulders

"No, you won't order out, I'll cook and we'll eat together"

"Really"

"Yes" she smiled at his excited expression. She felt terrible knowing that he was all alone and would be eating alone as well. It was his first diwali in his house after his mom and it pained her heart to see him celebrating by himself.

She made the rangoli first while Sam helped, well if you call playing with her pallu, stealing kisses and tickling her help, then yes he helped.

The kitchen was huge but luckily she was able to find every thing she needed. She was going to cook "Cholay Poori & Halwa" they all happened to be Sam's favorite.

"Samrat, please let me go, you're going to get burned" he had been hugging her from behind ever since she had started preparing the food. It was hard to concentrate when he was leaving a trail of kisses on her neck and shoulder, his hands gently caressing her bare waist and stomach was of no help either. She giggled as he nibbled at her ear. "Samrat!" The shriek from his cell stopped him abruptly, Gunjan smiled at his annoyed face.

"Nupur please relax, maybe she's in the bathroom" Mayank tried to calm a worried Nupur. She had been calling Gunjan non-stop for the past 15 minutes. She had left home without seeing Gunjan. She was upset over the argument and Gunjan's stubbornness, but felt guilty the moment she arrived at Mayank's. She had been calling her consistently in hopes to apologize but in vain, as Gunjan was not picking up the phone.

"Bathroom? What the hell would Gunjan be doing in the bathroom for this long?" Nupur started bawling

Mayank cupped her face wiping her tears "Calm down Nupur I am sure she is ok"

"But if she is not Mayank, oh god if only I hadn't argued with her regarding Samrat?Samrat, OMG Samrat, I have to call him maybe she's with him" Nupur's heart fluttered with hope, she prayed that may Gunjan be safe and sound with Samrat.

"please pick up the phone Samrat?Hello, hello Samrat?"

"Nupur?"

"Samrat, is Gunjan with you, because I have been calling home and no one is picking up the phone and.." fresh load of tears flew from her eyes as she choked out the last bit

"Relax Nupur, Gunjan is right here with me" he gestured Gunjan to come near him

"What? Really, OMG Samrat thank you, by god I was so worried, and you couldn't you have at least called and informed me, do you have any idea how petrified I was?" Forgetting her fear Nupur yelled notoriously.

"Hello, Di"

"Gunjan" hearing her sisters voice Nupur felt her nerves calming, thank god she was ok "why didn't you tell me you were at Samrat's, silly girl do you have any idea how worried I was, especially since I didn't even see you before I left, and I was so upset and I..Iam sorry Gunjan" Nupur stated wiping her tears.

"It's ok Di, and please don't worry I am perfectly alright"

"But of course now that you are with Samrat you would have to be alright" Gunjan blushed at Nupur's teasing

"Di?"

"Ok Ok stop blushing, I'll let you go now, have fun"

"You too Di and wish Mayank a Happy Diwali from my side"

"Ok Bye"

Hanging up Nupur sighed in relief and looked gratefully towards Mayank. She was falling for him and she knew it. Throwing her arms around him she mumbled a thank you.

"Are you happy now?" he asked putting his arms around her waist.

"Yes, Gunjan is where she is supposed to be" she smiled dreamily

"And you are where you're supposed to be" He nuzzled in her hair and softly kissed her neck.

"Now where were we" Smart looked grinned devilishly as he brought her close, his lips had just found hers when the door bell rang, muttering a curse under his breath her let her go and walked towards the door. What was the matter with the world, all he wanted was to romance his girl. God is that such a crime?

"Hi Sammy?mmmm the aroma of the food smells wonderful, I am starving" Pushing Sammy away he walked towards the kitchen holding his grumbling stomach.

"OMG Bhabz??? Is that really you or am I hallucinating, Sammy quick pinch me I think the hunger has gone to my head"

"Benji how many times have I told you please call me Gunjan" she chuckled watching his silly expressions while Sammy huffed and puffed.

"Uh huh, we have to do the arti first" she reprimanded Benji who had already grabbed a poori

Gunjan smiled looking at the statues of Sri Ram, Laxman and Sitaji in front of her. Sammy and Benji had reminded her so much of Sri Ram & Laxman, OMG she chastised herself what was she thinking, that would mean she was sita?!?

She had to admit Benji was hilarious, finishing up with dinner they sat laughing out in the veranda. Sammy's arm lay carelessly around her shoulders. It all seemed so perfect, they seemed so perfect, then why couldn't she fight her apprehensions. Maybe staying away from Sammy was going to harder than she'd expected.

PART 8

"I love you"

"I love you too"

Nupur snuggled deeper into Mayank's chest and breathed in the scent of him. She had never thought that this day, this moment would actually come in her life; especially with this person. Mayank and she were at constant war with one another, he seemed to annoy her to no end, and well she was sure she was equally as infuriating to him. Then how did this happen? It was all thanks to the trip they took to the inter-college pentathlon. Yes as always they had bickered and fought but in between all of that they came to care for each other, developed a soft corner for each other, especially after Mayank saved Nupur from the drunk boys at the club that night. She had made a new friend during the trip who insisted they go to a club and "chill out"; as she called it and as always going against Mayank's better judgment Nupur had went skipping along to the club with her friend. She thanked god every night since then for making Mayank such a considerate human being that he followed her and protected her when needed.

"Nupur"

"Hmm"

"We are getting late for class sweet heart"

Nupur whined in disgust, well what did she expect after all she was in love with a man who worshipped books and considered college his temple. Letting out a deep sigh Nupur unwrapped herself from Mayank and picked or rather pushed herself up. Holding the hand he offered she smiled and gave him a quick unexpected hug which he returned willingly. They walked towards their class content and happy with Nupur's arms perfectly tangled in his.

"Hi Jaan" Samrat wrapped his arms around Gunjan's petite waist from behind and snuggled in to her hair.

"Samrat Please..let me go" watchful of the passerby's Gunjan struggled to free herself from Samrat's embrace but when she felt unsuccessful she felt her anger rise and to her surprise she yelled in contempt " Samrat, I said let me go"

Stunned by her outburst Samrat released her instantly, where had that come from? Why had that come? Had he done anything wrong?

"Gunjan, what's the problem sweetheart" he took a step towards her only to be stopped by her raised hand.

"Don't Samrat just don't, how many times have I told you that it is over between us. What is there so hard to comprehend. I have told you numerous times that I want to be left alone then why do you keep bothering me like this, leave me alone Samrat..please" Gunjan yelled the last bit trying to get her point across

Samrat felt something break inside of him, and he swore it felt like his heart; but his anger rose before the pain could engulf him.

"Fine Gunjan, that is just fine. You want me to leave you alone, then fine from today, NO in fact from this very moment onwards I will leave you alone"

Samrat looked at her with disgust and walked away. He had had enough, he had tried and tried to prove to her that he loved for what she was, that he did not care for the other girls or their short revealing clothes, he only cared for his Gunjan, the one who was simple and wore simple clothes; but NO she didn't want him or his love, fine then he would just leave her the hell alone.

Benji observed all of this in silence and couldn't decipher what had gone wrong. Gunjan seemed so happy and equally in love with Sammy during the holiday then what had caused such an outburst? He loved Sammy like a brother and respected Gunjan but he had to admit, this time Gunjan was at fault and though she looked just as distraught standing there it was Sammy who needed him more, and he knew exactly where to find him.

"You ok dude"

"Yeah man I am fine" Sammy wiped the few tears that had escaped his eyes and tried to focus on playing basketball.

"Sammy"

"Benji please, I don't want to talk about it, it's over now and maybe it's better this way" Samrat threw the ball and cursed when it missed the basket.

"Hey, how about a one on one"

"Benji one on one as in you and me are you nuts" Samrat smiled despite himself

"Yea man what's the matter you chicken"

Samrat laughed and threw him the ball, Benji always knew how to cheer him up no matter how grave the problem, but that's what best friends were for right? And boy was he glad that he had one like Benji.

"YOU DID WHAT??" Nupur yelled infamously as Gunjan sobbed uncontrollably. "By God Gunjan have you lost your mind, how could you do such a thing? And that too Samrat, do you have any idea how much he loves you?" Nupur still couldn't comprehend how her sweet innocent Gunjan could turn so cold that too towards the man she loved.

"I know Di, but..but I .." Gunjan didn't know what she could say to justify her behavior towards Samrat today. She felt awful no miserable! The hurt on Samrat's face and his pain depicting eyes had haunted her all through out the day and it was worse when he didn't show up for the lecture.

"You know Gunjan I don't even know what I can say and do to make you understand that your attitude towards Samrat is wrong. I know you have your fears and apprehensions but Gunjan when the person for whom you have the fears and apprehensions for is there with you then don't you think it's wise to accept and move on with what you both share. Gunjan, Samrat is a very good looking guy, he is intelligent and witty, charming and sweet above all extremely caring and loving, and did I mention that he is the basketball champion and the most sought after guy in the entire college. Yet Gunjan, he has eyes only and only for you. Shouldn't that tell you something?"

When Gunjan only sobbed some more Nupur gave up and went down to call Mayank; only he could calm her now.

It had been a week since Samrat had spoken to her. He ignored her in the hallways, sat further away in class, shamelessly flirted with every girl who showed skin and even skipped having lunch in the canteen because she was there. It was becoming unbearable for Gunjan, she missed him terribly, and every time she passed by their secret hallway she would do nothing but cry.

She sighed inwardly and headed for the entrance to the college, glancing lovingly towards the spot where he parked his bike. She frowned seeing it empty, Samrat was always here before her to practice especially when a game was right around the corner. She looked around the lot and didn't see his bike parked anywhere else; disheartened she walked towards her class, hoping to see him there.

By the 3rd class Gunjan had begun to worry, she had not seen Samrat all day today, he had also not shown up for any of the classes. Fear had started forming in her gut, did something happened to him during the weekend? Color drowned from her face as she worriedly she looked around for Benji. She felt the relief flood in when she found him flirting with a girl who looked rather annoyed and uninterested.

"Benji?"

He smiled hearing his name taken ever so sweetly, curious to know who this angelic voice belonged to he turned around only to see a bewildered Gunjan. His expression immediately sobered; a fact not missed by Gunjan and immediately walked away from her.

"Benji Please stop..Please Benji I beg you"

He stopped hearing her pleas but refused to spare her a look. He felt her right behind him and folded his arms against his chest, trying hard to control his anger.

"Benji, I am sorry for bothering you, but please can you tell me where Samrat is?"

Her question appalled him and forced him to turn around. She looked miserable he admitted and her plea seemed genuine, but why did she care? This was all her doing anyway.

"Why do you care Gunjan? You asked Sammy to leave you alone and that is exactly what he is doing, then why are you inquiring about him?"

"Benji please, I know what I did was wrong and I regret it every second but please tell me where he is" Gunjan tried hard to control her tears but they spilled out much to her chagrin.

Benji cursed himself for being so rude, but it was not in his control. He knew no matter how much Gunjan denied it deep down she loved Sammy just as much and because of that love she had every right to know about him.

"He's at home Gunjan, he passed out during practice over the weekend, seems like he hasn't been eating or sleeping well and it finally caught up to him. He's currently at home with a high fever and?"

Before Benji could continue Gunjan dashed out of the hallway and eventually the college. The tears trickled out freely as she yelled for an auto. The image of Samrat lying unconscious pierced her heart, she had to go to him, she had to see him and she had to do all of that NOW!

"SAMRAT!" He turned to see her breathing heavily at his door and even behind those glasses he could tell she had cried. Before he could recover from the sudden shock of her presence she ran in to his arms and fastened her arms tightly around him.

The feeling of having her in his arms again was heavenly and with the heavy doses of medicine he had consumed he almost felt as if he was floating. He hugged her back with whatever strength he had and slipped into unconsciousness.

He awoke after what seemed like ages only to see her dutifully applying wet cloths on his head. He was happy to see her was an understatement, but before he could enjoy her presence the realization kicked in. He bolted up from the bed and through the cloth away with such force that it left Gunjan shocked and scared.

"What are you doing here huh? Why are you here now?"

"Samrat I.."

"What I Gunjan?" He tried to control his anger but the memory of what she had done was graver than any pain he currently felt. "Get out Gunjan!" he spoke calmly

"Samrat?"

"Please Gunjan I gave you what you wanted, now you have to give me what I want, please leave" He shut his eyes and refused to look back at her receding figure.

PART 9

"Samrat why was Gunjan crying? And why did she run out like that?" Benji had just made it to Samrat's and upon his arrival he had caught a tearful Gunjan running out. He had tried to stop her by calling out to her, but she had not even spared him a glance. Worried, he had rushed upstairs and had found an equally distraught Samrat.

"Please Benji I don't want to talk about it"

"But Samrat, Gunjan?" Before Benji could utter another word Samrat had done something he had never done to Benji. He lashed out at him, making his dear old friend utterly astonished.

"Oh Shut up Benji! Gunjan! Gunjan! Gunjan! That is all you ever talk about, I am freaking sick of hearing her name from you, Gunjan and my relationship is none of your god dame business, and if you are so worried for that Gunjan then why don't you go after her!" Samrat reprimanded himself the minute the words left his mouth; he turned to see a distraught looking Benji walking out of his room.

Holding his head in frustration and distress he chastised himself repeatedly. He hadn't meant to lash out at Benji that way, but the confrontation with Gunjan was still fresh in his mind. Poor Benji had unnecessarily bared the brunt of his anger with Gunjan. He cursed the woman for having caused this rift between him and his best friend. He knew he was still too weak to drive but he had to go and apologize to Benji right away, he owed his friend that. Benji had stuck with him through tick and thin, he was his one and only true friend. It was true that Samrat had many friends; in fact you could almost say that the whole college was a friend when it came to Samrat, but none of them had been his true friends, they were with him only during his happiness and would disappear during his sorrow.

Walking out of the house, Samrat couldn't help but chuckle; there sitting glumly on the threshold of his house, with his hand under his chin, was Benji. For the second time that day Samrat felt another pang of guilt in his heart. Sitting beside him on the floor Samrat carefully put his arm around his brooding buddy and smiled when the latter made a face and turned away.

"Oh come on Benji, I am sorry yaar" Samrat suppressed his giggle as Benji stuck his tongue out at him like a 4 year old. "Ok fine look I am sorry" Holding both his ears Samrat made a puppy face which in return brought a shining smile on Benji's pudgy face.

The two men broke in to a hearty laugh and ended it with a manly hug; that was enough of the childlike game after all as a cool dude Samrat did have a rep to protect.

"By god I am so nervous, I am afraid I might pee in my pants, God ji please help me, give me strength god ji please give me strength, itni shakti humhe dena daata mann ka vishwaas kamzor ho na" With folded hands Nupur prayed vehemently before the closed door. She was going to meet Mayank's mom today and just the thought of it all was making her queasy. She was usually not the easily nerved kind but when she was going to meet the mother of the man she loved for the first time she couldn't control herself. Swallowing hard Nupur folded her hands once again and began chanting the name of god until someone suddenly opened the door.

"OMG you beggars! What have you now left the streets and started begging in front of people's homess, shoo shoo go beg somewhere else I don't have any loose change to give you." Nupur stared wide eyed as the lady who had just called her a beggar shut the door on her face.

Anger rose in the pit of her stomach like a volcano how dare this lady just call her a beggar, for god sake she was wearing her new Silver Sitara dress and this women thought she was a beggar, I will show her Nupur mused and rang the bell continuously. The same lady opened the door in irritation but before she could utter another word Nupur charged on her. "You good for nothing naukerani! How dare you call me a beggar, do I look a beggar to you huh? Look, look at my clothes you think a beggar would wear such a thing. You uneducated lowly naukerani, working in a big house has gone to your head, where is your boss Mayank, call him, call him right now and tell him MS. Nupur is here"

"Nupur?" The lady stared at the girl in shock and smiled inwardly, Mayank was right the girl was indeed a firecracker.

"Yes Nupur, I am a really good friend of your boss, and if I want I can easily have you fired!" Nupur stuck her head high up in the air and walked towards the sofas to have a seat.

"Oh really, I wonder how my SON Mayank will fire his mother" Hearing the word mother Nupur missed the sofa and fell flat on her butt.

"What? You his Mother?" Nupur looked at the lady disbelievingly as she nodded her head as a yes "Wahhhhhhhhh haaaaaaa haaaaaa aaannn" Mayank's mother looked on horrified as Nupur began to wail loudly.

"OMG hi Sammy" Dia exclaimed excitedly in to the phone

"Hi babe how are you?"

How can I be without you Sammay, Dia mused to herself before answering "I am fine Sammy how are you feeling now?"

"I am better now, thanks for asking beautiful"

Dia blushed and toyed with the phone cord as she registered the fact that he had just called her beautiful. Sammy and she were good friends since high school, though she had developed a fondness of Sammy quite earlier on in their college days, she had never had the guts to tell him. Actually Dia didn't feel there was a need for her to tell Sammy about her likeness of him, after all she was the prettiest girl in the college and he the most handsome boy, so to her it made sense that he would soon or later develop a likeness for her. She had to admit though she did have her doubts, it was the final year of college and though Sammy had always accompanied her to the movies and dinners they had yet to actually kiss. She had tried numerous times and had dropped many hints after their dinners that she had a wonderful time on their "date" but he would simply smile and bid her goodnight without even much less a hug.

"Hello Candy, are you still there"

"Oh huh, yea, yea I am still here sorry" she smiled sheepishly to herself, she had been so caught up in her little flashbacks of their dates that she had completely forgotten that the man in question was on the other line.

"Actually Candy I had called to ask if you would like to go to the homecoming ball with me?"

The phone almost slipped from her hands, as she jumped to grab it. Had she actually heard him, did he actually ask her to the ball?

"What!?"

"I was wondering whether you would like to go to the ball with me, just forget it if you have already been asked"

"NO NO, I mean Yes Yes I would love to go the ball with you and no I haven't been asked by anyone else." She felt her heart beat like a drum inside of her, she couldn't believe it, Sammy had finally asked her out and that too to the homecoming ball. This could only mean that he would tell her his feelings in front of the whole college.

"Ok then I'll pick you up Friday at 7, bye"

"Bye Sammy" she whispered while still holding the phone to her ear, even after he had hung up. She squealed and jumped on the sofas as she finally put the phone down. She was giddy with delight; Samrat had asked HER out to the ball!!!

"By god and that poor Anurag, he had to die in order to finally get his Prerna. I am telling you aunty I never liked that Mr.Bajaj from day one!"

"Oh I know and that Prerna, she was the most confused character of the whole show. I mean at one point she loves Anurag, then Bajaj, then back to Anurag then again Bajaj. I mean we had to wait till the end of the show to find out that the winner was Anurag. Such a pathetically confused soul I tell you beta"

Mayank banged his head on the dinning table as his mother and Nupur yacked on and on about Kekta Kapoor shows. They had been talking non-stop for the past hour, discussing every character from the old Dadaji to the 2 year old kid. He sighed loudly as they went on to the next character with the name of Prem. Well, he cogitated at least one thing was clear, his mother approved of Nupur and Nupur too had liked his mom. That just left him, all alone with his books. He smiled watching the two very special women in his life, ignoring him completely. He remembered the scene that had taken place just a couple of hours before. He had come down running after hearing the annoying cries of a child. It surprised him at first as there was no child in their home but when he came down he was astonished to see a wailing Nupur sprawled on the floor.

Like his mother, he too stood gawking for several minutes until his mother had broken in to fits of laughter and gone to hug a sobbing Nupur. It had taken 30 minutes to calm Nupur down. She kept crying and apologizing incessantly to his mom, for having called her a naukerani. Just then as if even god himself was sick of Nupur's howling the promo for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi had come on. Nupur had shut up instantly and along with his mom had become so engrossed in the promo that both the women had forgotten he was even standing there. Since then, he had been playing Mr. Invisible.

Gunjan sat dried eyed staring in to space on her bed. She had just spent the past one hour crying her heart out. When Benji had notified her of Samrat's ill health she could not control her emotions and had gone running to him. He had looked so weary and tired, and when he had passed out in her arms she had nearly died with fear. It had taken him 2 hours to awaken from his unconsciousness and during the entire time she had spent putting wet towellets on his forehead, in hope that his fever would reduce or perhaps even break. When he had finally awoken, she had been thrilled beyond words; she was expecting he would take her in his arms and perhaps forgive her. However, her hope was shattered when he had told her to leave.

She knew she was at fault. Her own apprehensions had gotten the best of her. She had a man who loved her despite her looks and shy attitude. She had a man who in a crowd of beautiful women had eyes only for her. She had a man who had women throwing themselves at him, but wanted only her. The tears came back again as she remembered how she had shunned and pushed Samrat away. He was lonely and she had left him even more alone.

The truth was that Samrat was so much stronger than her when it came to accepting their relationship. He was proud of their love and didn't care what the world said about them. She however, it now seemed was weak and did not love Samrat as he loved her. "NO" she screamed "I do love him, I love him unconditionally, I am sorry Samrat, I am sorry for having hurt you, but I promise I will make it up. I have always shied away from expressing my love to you, but now no more. I love you Samrat and I will tell the whole world that. I am sorry it has taken me so long to realize this. I was always worried what the people might say, will they accept us or not, but I don't care for the people anymore Samrat, because I accept us! "
