Call it a bizarre coincidence, that while Pakistani actress Meera is in India, having acted in two Bollywood films (Nazar and Kasak), the Meera of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has just returned from Pakistan after being part of a cultural festival there.

Goodwill galore

Model-actress Shubhaavi, who plays vivacious lawyer Meera in the daily serial, was invited to Lahore to act in two shows of English play, Creeps, directed by Atul Kumar. Recalls Shubhaavi, "We were in Pakistan for seven days during the cultural mehfil, and it turned out to be an exhilarating experience.

Not only did the local people in Lahore give us an overwhelming response, but they always made us feel like 'khaas mehmaan'.

Some friendly shopkeepers in Lahore offered me gifts in the forms of earrings and rings, and even shoes, as tokens of their affection.

Pakistani actor Usmaan Peerzada mingled with all of us and we had a great time exchanging notes. It was an eye-opener for me, as I used to have a wrong perception about Pak feelings for Indians," she admits.

Kids' show

Currently, the Kyunki lawyer has been playing the lovable character of Saavri bhabhi, in Kitu Sab Jaanti Hai, and has taken over from Anupam Kher in this telly-show for kids, Say Naa Something, on the Janmat channel.

"They have dropped Anupam's name, but not yet suffixed mine. Guess my off-screen name is yet to become popular enough for them to add Shubhaavi didi," she laughs.

Incidentally, Shubhavi who is seeing TV actor Rushad Rana (India Calling; Karan of Wohh Rehnewali Mehlon Ki), first met him while performing for the Hinglish comedy play, Dhoom.
