Gehna and Anandi come to the mid-wife's house. Gehna asks her about Jamna. The thayi is very surprised that Basanth is married again and that too to such a young girl. She comments that Maasa has learnt nothing. Gehna insists on knowing how Jamna died. Thayi sends Anandi outside to check on the cow. She then tells Gehna about how Jamna died
Flashback : Jamna, writhing in pain is wheeled into the hospital. The doctor scolds Basanth for not listening to him, inspite of being told that his wife is too weak for pregnancies. Maasa asks him to cut the crap and deliver the baby since Jamna is in pain. The doctor then explains that its not labor pains, but its pains because the baby has enlarged and lodged too low. He informs that Jamna needs to be operated and that the baby won't survive, but Jamna will. If they don't go through with the operation, then Jamna will die as well.
Maasa tells her shocked family that she doesn't care too much for the doctor's advise..so no operation. They take Jamna home.

Thayi comes to Maasa and co and tells them that either the mother or baby can survive. Maasa insists that she has to save her grandson. Unfortunately, both mother and baby boy die.

She talks about how the cow can put up all the torture and how beneficial cows are etc. basically I guess the intent was to show that women are like cows. Gehna resolves to not take anymore torture.
At night, Gehna comes to her room. Basanth tries to talk to her, but she just takes her pillow and blanket and goes down to the living room to sleep. Maasa sees this and is shocked. Basanth asks Gehna to come to their room and she refuses
