I ofcourse think so too! A main character should be someone who the audience connects with. So even when the character makes billion mistakes the audiences are with him or her. For example through out Sagar being blind to sindoora's karnama, Jai treating Bani wrong, Bani being dumb at times, Shabd not beliving Mahi. Yeah ok I hope I made my point. Trish started out as our heroine she has also never made any huge mistakes. Yet the second Raj married Tanya 90% of the fans switched to Tanya's side. WHY?? Because even with all her flaws we like her better. She seems likable, and real. Honestly I put up with the whole 30 mins -commercials just for her.

I would love to see Tanya as the lead and the show will do much better. Tanya has places to go. Her character has space to develop. Trish is already who she is and she is taking downfalls day by day.

Now if we are talking actress wise I have never seen Pariva (trish) in her other shows except Salaam Zindagi. Even with hot guys and her pretty face Salaam zindagi ended quick. Was she not a strong, good charcater? yes! The show ended, people whined for few weeks. That's it.

I haven't seen Shalini anywhere else either, except KGGK. Even out of the billion characters in the show she made her place. People still love her and miss her. She has dedicated fans who will watch anything she does. I think she deserves the main lead.

I think the creatives should better start showing us more of TAAJ and tanya's story...most people watch this show for "Shalini"....for me there is nothing good in this show except her...........she makes everything so real to me......like her character.....rape.......suicide........her expressions....sensitivity ...and dialogues...and ....I'm studying drama.........and I have seen many indian actresses performing......Im from pakistan and in pakistani dramas there is much more emphasis on story and acting.........but shalini is just extraordinary...she stands out even with such a good caste she made her place so quickly even in kahaani ghar ghar ki.............I would love taaj to fall in love but Im mainly interested in Tanya's story.......Her character has weaknesses which I wont necessarily call a weakness its a personality trait to be introvert.........to be a listner........and her intentions are good....but thats so true the way you are raised(nature and nurture) impacts you in a way that reflects in crisis like her rape and hiding all that stuff,not telling her parents about her problem ,shame/honor...........I hope they show us more of her story ..and a powerful story.......I want to see her stronger.......for me I dont like typical stories like "mein prem ki dewani hoon"......romance is also attractive and appealing.......but I like where mutual understanding and friendship turns into romance...rather than few days love or crush........I appreciate passionate love....also for me trishna is same as other actresses but I really think she needs to work on her acting and also her appearance looks fake to me.......... makeup is my weakness and I pay lot of attention on that........its not all about looks its the way you carry your self..and her expressions are not natural even the smile is fake........they need to put more efffort on this character.....
