Many see Farhan Akhtar's second film Lakshya as a war film; the character a departure from his city-slick dreamers in Dil Chahta Hai. But the director points out that Lakshya is a coming-of-age tale as well. It's a story that Farhan knows well. The son of blockbuster scriptwriters Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani admits he drifted until he found his true calling—this despite coming from a film family. Even though a young Farhan assisted Manmohan Desai, his first project was when he co-directed Shankar Mahadevan's stylistic music video Breathless with big sister Zoya. He admits that he walked into direction by default. Once Farhan wrote of how Akash, Sid and Sameer found love, he couldn't surrender them to anyone else. In the one year between Dil Chahta Hai and Lakshya, Farhan wrote lyrics for Gurinder Chadha's Bride and Prejudice and made funky ad-spots for Fanta. Married to Juice's Audhuna who creates specific looks for his actors, Farhan himself is very like the characters he portrays—urban, witty, quirky and sensitive. Javed Akhtar Sahab (Farhan;s dad was married previously to Honey Irani who is a writer (she wrote Armaan) and now he is marries to shabana azmi.

javed akhtar remarried shabana azmi after he and honey divorced, but on amicable terms and both still on frenly terms. Farhan and his sis zoya lived with his mother, but shabana never trated farhan like a step mother i heard and she now even is willing to work with farhan.

i had read it sumwhere, he and sis were greatly effected by the break up but then gradually recovered.

in the first pic he as a baby looks very cute like a puppy and i really like the stylish christmas picture...too good.

If you haven't see the Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai episode. It is nice. By the way Farhan is half Parsi and half Muslim. His mother is a Parsi (iranian) and they used to own a very very famous bakery in Mumbai - maybe her family still does. Even his cousin the famous Farah Khan is half Parsi and half muslim and that is why she wanted a parsi style wedding in addition to a Hindu one.

You mean the Farah Khan who is a choreographer and a judge on Indian Idol - she is Farhan's cousin - that is Javed Khan's brother's daughter ?? Is that right? I didn't know that.

Also, I believe Honey Irani (Farhan's mom) is the sister of Daisy Irani who did some really awesome roles as a child actor. She still acts in some movies. She was in Kal Ho Na Ho as one of the friends of grandma - who sang together. She looks like Honey Irani.

Since her name is Adhuna Bhabani Akhtar now. Only he surname has changed to that of her husband's.

Bhabani is a sanskrit word meaning goddess Parvati.

and Adhuna means the present and now.

Farhan's mom is Honey Irani (famous child star and later on writer of movies like Lamhe, Chandni, Aaina, Darr and Armaan)Honey Irani is the sister of child star Daisy Irani. They are Parsi.

HOney married Javed Akhtar. He had an affair with Shabana Azmi while still being married to Honey Irani and so she divorced him. After that, Javed and Shabana got married. They have no children of their own. Javed's kids Farhan and Zoya are from Honey Irani.

I am not too sure but I believe Farah Khan is the daughter of Daisy Irani.

Adhuna Bhabhani Akhtar is a Hindu- I think she is Bengali. In fact, their daughter's name is Sakhya which is actually a Sanskrit word. It means love or attachment for the Lord which is expressed in the mood of a friend.
It is a term frequently used by Krishna devotees. Incidentally, The Buddha was also known as Sakhyamuni.
