As much as I love surkikhani's posts (most of them create good discussion) I completely disagree with the post this time round 😳 since I am a Karisma fan, I will try not to be biased!
As someone rightly mentioned earlier, Karisma was at one point in her career, Bollywood queen. Infact, she was for quite sometime. She had a lot of box office success, delivering many hits, many were even back to back. However, she did not only have box office success, she also received critical acclaim with films such as Zubeidaa, Fiza and even Shakti- the power. National award winner for Dil to pagal hai and best supporting actress for the same film. Not to mention best actress for Raja Hindustani, Fiza, and best critics award for Zubeidaa....I think my point is obvious lol.
Also, another factor is that Karishma was able to do comedies such as Judwaa...and then go on to do serious cinema such as Zubeidaa. Through this she managed to prove her versatility. Another important point is that she is one of the few actresses that was fortunate enough to make a comfortable transition from Commercial to off-beat cinema, achieving success in both.
As for bad films, which top actor/actress hasn't done bad films? Even the best can make wrong choices. But I don't think she ruined her career. That's an exaggerated statement (in my opinion) And she was even appreciated in films that didn't do well at the box office. If a film does not do do well that does not mean that the actor/actress hasn't performed well. There's no link between the two. Fiza wasn't a box office success but it is seen as one of Karisma's best performances, for which she was given a filmfare award.
I personally feel that Karishma was one of the most hardworking actresses of the industry. After being heavily criticised in the very early stages of her career for her appearance, she worked on her image and completely changed herself. The transformation was amazing and she is now seen as a fashion icon by many. And I also think that she is very versatile. As for her age, erm....what's wrong with it? lol. I don't get this ageism....at this rate, people will retire and take pension by the time they reach 30 lol. I think she looks stunning, better than ever and if she makes a comeback, can give anyone a run for their money. Once an actor....always an actor! Does retirement exist in showbiz?!
So after a boring post (I know! 😳 ) my answer is YES she can make a comeback AND also that she was a bollywood queen. But every queen gets dethroned and someone else takes over because that is how the industry works. That doesn't mean that they become less of an actress or that their career is ruined. It's just how the filmi world is. Everyone has their time, but what is important is that whether or not they leave an impact...and I think Lolo did. Aasman mein bahut sitaare hain, lekin un sub ki chamak barkaraar rehti hai 😊
@ coolfire: I agree with your post 100% esp. the Salman khan part! She did have fabulous chemistry with him and they always looked good together. If she made a comeback opp. him. ..would be awesome.
