The former Kkusum actress and her husband, Rohit Roy, recently shifted to a spanking new apartment in Juhu, with a view of the sea. "It's our labour of love; Rohit has really worked hard on every little detail of the apartment," she says. "Apart from him, I had Darryl and Bhavesh, who are Pinakin Patel's assistants, decorating my interiors. It has turned out better than I had envisioned." Minimal clutter The three-bedroom-hall-kitchen has been designed using the art of Zen. "Zen means there has to be minimum clutter; everything — like cupboards and drawers — should be hidden. Unnecessary objects lying around instigate negative energy, which is avoided by using Zen." The entire house uses a uniform, white colour scheme. "Except for Kiara's (their daughter) room, which has shades of light green, every other room in the house is done in white." Favourite room Which is her favourite room? "Of course, our bedroom. It has a breathtaking view of the ocean. Instead of having a conventional wall, I have used glass from top to bottom, giving us a direct view of the sky and the sea. It feels amazing to lie down on the bed and stare at the stars, or wake up in the morning and watch the sun rise." How has Kiara taken to the new house? "She loves her room, since it has cute posters of her favourite character – Winnie the Pooh." Most of the furniture in the house has been bought from abroad. "I didn't want to have too much furniture; I have just used the basics," says Manasi. The Roy's had a housewarming ceremony during Diwali, attended by family and a few close friends. Though the couple was not willing to put a price tag on their abode, sources claim the apartment costs up to Rs 1 crore. tushar.joshi@mid-day.com |
