When remake met original
When Himesh Reshammiya got a call from veteran music director Pyarelal to come home and play the new Karzzzz's music for him, the singer-actor was overwhelmed.

Pyarelal, after all, is the original composer and music director of Karz. But Himesh got going, not without some trepidation, for Pyarelal is a strict judge of music.

He sat at the music genius feet and strummed the golden hit Ek Haseena Thi (which had Rishi Kapoor and Simi Garewal) on his guitar. Some 20 minutes later, a visibly pleased Pyarelal gave Himesh a thumbs up. He was happy with the musical remake of Karz. Pyarelal said, 'Himesh is a multi-talented person. And I can see it clearly. And he gave Himesh his blessings for Karzzzz, which is directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Bhushan Kumar.

An ecstatic Himesh revealed he had retained the Ek Hasina Thi track and had sung the new version without his signature nasal twang. The album of his new film has seven original tracks besides two numbers which are recreated. The unconventional Tandoori Nights is already a night club hit. "I'm truly indebted to night club DJs who play this track,"said Himesh.

'Yeh karz unka nahin chuka sakta. The film releases nationwide on October 17 in which Himesh plays Monty, a role popularised in the original by Rishi Kapoor. And, in place of Simi, Himesh has the sexy Urmila Matondkar in the Ek Hasina Thi track.
