Ok before I start NITPICKING and CRIBBING, let me state the +ves:
- Good cinematography. The show seems to be shot really well. The bright colours and everything fit well with the youth oriented theme of the show.
- Characters of Uday, Diya, Nupur, Mayank, Gunjan are well etched. [Guess who's missing?]
- Actors portraying above mentioned characters are... competent. Not mind blowingly "give them a Ashutosh Gowariker movie RIGHT THIS MINUTE!" good. But they are believable with their characters.
- Characters of Uday, Nupur and Mayank are likable.
- Mayank is more than likable! Hotness! EEEEEE! And I love the fact that he marches to the beat of his own drummer and doesn't give a rat's *** about what other people think. I kinda relate to that, I guess? [the independance, not the hotness! 😛]
- Mayank/Nupur look like they might have GOOD chemistry. If not at first, eventually.
Coming back to this show, I don't really know what it is about it. Wait, actually, I do. Let's make another list! Yaaaaaaaay! 😛
- MIND NUMBINGLY BAD "extras"/stock characters - the random people studying in the college. The extras in this show DO NOT LOOK like college kids. They look about 30 - 40. And absolutely DUMB. I fail to understand how EVERYONE in the college is ready to bow to Diya's stupid plan. I mean, other than Mayank, did no one think to themselves that "Hey, this plan really stinks! And why would want to traumatise some random newcomer just coz Diya thinks she's the queen of somewhere and hates her cousins?!!?!" NO ONE? NOT ONE PERSON WITH A BRAIN? 🤢🤢🤢
- Unwanted nonsense like the Main Hoon Na inspired principal and teacher. And what was the teacher's name? AHA!? As in "yehi hai right choice baby, AHA!!!!!"?!?!!? Ok. Whatever you say.
- The cheesy, corny, crappy (3C) things the characters say and do. Again, everyone falling over themselves to orchestrate Diya's plan. The character is as such nasty to anyone who is outside her social circle. Then why in sweet God's name would they want to be part of this?
- Those "friends" of Diya. The wannabe chick and 2 guys, one scrawny and other called Benjy [which I first thought was "BEHENJI". I thought it was highly weird they were calling a guy BEHENJI. But I have seen stranger things in the show!] or something... Highly aggravating. My hand simply itches to make contact with those people's faces. Ugh. 😡
- Samrat. I know he seems to have a HUGE fan following here [and I'm sorry if this offends any of you. I don't mean to], but to me, the character just isn't well developed. Or maybe he is, and he's just this big teen movie cliche walking around. Jock of the college, stud, hit with the girls, "innocently" pranking the newcomers, but oh so sensitive, heart of gold, waiting for his Ms. Right. *snort* Right. To me the character just seems like a wannabe. Why is he even doing this? Coz Diya doesn't like her cousins? How is that HIS PROBLEM? Grow a brain and let the spoilt rich girl do her own dirty work. And the guy needs to work a lot on his dialogue delivery and expressions. Beh. Not a fan of him at all. Sorry guys, not working for me.
- BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD SCREENPLAY. BAD! BAD BAD BAD!!!!!!! Nonsensical "pranks" like screaming "keeda keeda"? Public loo stalls that lock from the OUTSIDE? The worst? This whole Samrat/Bhavesh plan. Ok, this plan has to be the 3C-est plan I've ever seen for a "prank". Primarily coz:
a/ So, oily hair, and a satin shirt buttoned up to your nose, and a pair of glasses are supposed to "DISGUISE" you? Seriously???? I mean, ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME? I mean, I can only hope this is some kinda homage to SUPERMAN, since no one can recognise HIM when he wears a pair of glasses and his underwear INSIDE. My god, BRILLIANT DISGUISE! 🤔 SHE *JUST* SAW HIM OUT OF DISGUISE AND APOLOGIZED FOR INJURING THT MORON WITH THE CART!!!!!!!!!! For someone who I thought was a SMART character, her lift doesn't really go up to till the topmost floor does it?
b/ What was the POINT of the plan? To make her fall in love with Bhavesh? I don't get it. I really don't. Someone please explain what the POINT was.
c/ If the point WAS to make her fall in love or whatever with him, did they really think she'd fall for him after a day? Well, their STUPID plan payed off then, coz she looked pretty torn. Seriously, new town. Learn the roads to college and back home, adjust with the city, adjust with the college. Do you really want to rush into random crap with some dude? Really stupid plan. Stupid, pointless, 3C. I just hope he falls for her BIG TIME soon and she's in no forgiving mood. And he has to beg and plead for forgiveness. Hmph. I hold out no hope for it happening though.
Frankly, when I saw the promos, I thought Uday and Diya would be the most annoying thing about this show. But I was wrong. This Samrat/Gunjan plot is stupid, awkward, and far too long ALREADY. I can only hope that when the Mayank/Nupur track will be in full swing, the show will redeem itself.
Errr... I think I should stop now, before you guys tie me to a stake and set me on fire. 😳 I just wanna reiterate that these are merely MY views. I'm not posting them to offend or imposing them on anyone, and do/will not judge anyone for disagreeing with me.
