The nasally gifted singer learns a lesson or two about plagiarism.
Himesh Reshammiya's latest torture is getting unleashed soon. 'Karzzzz' (zzzzzz) features a copied number for which the original music director-singer of that song has slapped a legal notice on the nasal singer and the film's lyricist Sameer and claimed such high damages that another Himesh starrer can be made with that amount!
Himesh took the remake concept of Subhash Ghai's so seriously that he went ahead and remade an already existing tune of an unknown NRI singer for his film. But well he just ended up giving a chance to that singer to not be unknown any more.
Musician-singer, Kulwinder Kally, has sought damages of believe -it-or-faint Rs. 5 crore from Himesh and his partner in crime, veteran lyricist Sameer.
Yipeee!!!
In the notice he has also claimed, both Sameer and Himesh have acted extremely unprofessionally and used his song without caring to acknowledge him or communicating with him over it.
Kally has demanded Rs. 5 crore as compensation from the duo for violating the Copyright Act and causing him mental agony, physical pain and loss of health and work.
Dear Kally you should know well that in India, the music directors only follow one Copyright Act and that is right-to-copy!
When Itried to speak to Sameer over it, he feigned amnesia over any Kulwinder Kally existing. But when I told him I had details about the legal noticed slapped on him and Himesh, he immediately changed his tone and said such singers whom no one knows want to extract their pound of flesh whenever big names come out with something good. It is nothing but blackmail he further added!
Well Sameer, you seem to have conveniently forgotten what happened to the 'Krazzy 4' title song when a virtually unknown music director Ram Sampat filed a case against the mighty Roshans and won damages over it.
I pray the same happens in this case too, so be prepared to shell out Rs. 5 crore!
Himesh was unavailable for comment. Last heard he's been chanting Hari Om Hari Om...not from the film silly, he really is in a bit of a 'Hari' to get over this!
