Pt. 91/ pg 142:
Dilip finally declared : Theek hai, mujhey yeh rishta manzoor hai! Main Angad aur Kripa ki shadi mein koi badha nahin daloonga!. Lekin......Meri kuchh shartein hain, unhey poora karna padega!
Dilip's eyes gleamed cunningly behind his glasses: Beta, hum tumharey dushman nahin. Lekin hamara bhi Samaaj mein ek Status hai, ek Rutbaa hai! Hum nahin chahtey koi bhi hamarey Bahu per ungli uthaye ya uskey baarey mein bura-bhala kahey!
What do u mean? Angad frowned with puzzlement.
Yehi ke mera pehla shart hai Kripa ko shadi ke baad Dance chhodna padega. Khanna parivaar ki Bahu stage per Dance nahin kar sakti!
WHAT?.... Angad went ballistic! KRIPA DANCE CHHOD DEGI? HARGIZ NAHIN! DAD, YOU CANT MAKE KRIPA QUIT DANCING! AAPKI VAJEH SE MAINEY APNA MUSIC CHHOD DIYA. FAMILY BUSINESS JOIN KAR LEE?..LEKIN KRIPA KO DANCE CHHODNEY NAHIN DOONGA. YEH NAMUMKIN HAI!
Dilip raised his eyebrows in mockery : Tumney Kripa ke liye apna ghar parivaar chhod diya, HUMEIN..........apney Maa-Baap ko chhod diya! Aur wo ladki tumharey liye Dance nahin chhod sakti?
Merey liye nahin........kahiyeAAPKI marzi ke liye Dance nahin chhod sakti!.......Angad was sarcastic and furious. All his angst about quitting his beloved music returned.
Aapney mujhey Music chhodney per majboor kiya, ab Kripa ko bhi Dance chhodney ko keh rahey hain? What do u have against Dance and Music? Dadajee Sangeet aur Nritya ke bahut shaukeen the........phir aap kyun itney against hain?
Dilip's jaws hardened: Mujhey Kalakaar ki zaat hi pasand nahin! Sabkey sab Bekaar, Kamchor aur nalayak hotay hain! Koi real kaam nahin kartey, Society per bojh hain sab ke sab!
Angad was livid! He turned a deep shade of red: That is YOUR VIEWPOINT! Poori duniya Kalakar ko Respect deti hai, aap kaun hain unko Bekaar kehney waley? Why should we care about what YOU think? Aapkey liye toh paisa hi sab kuchh hai! Paisa aur Status!
DAD! Kripa DANCE NAHIN CHHODEGI, and that's my FINAL DECISION! Ab aap humein apna ashirwaad dein ya nahin, issey koi farak nahin padta! Main Kripa seshadi karoonga, aur agley mahiney hi karoonga! THAT IS ALSO MY DECISION! Aaj se apney Life ke Decisions main KHUD loonga!
Naina was watching their argument anxiously, she butted in when they reached an impasse: Angad Beta, tum apney Dad ki baat ko galat tareekey se mat lo, what he means is........shadi ke baad Kripa Stage per perform naa hi karey toh behtar hai. Lekin wo Dance sikha sakti hai. That is fine with us! Hum Kripa ke liye Dance School bhi bana dengey! (Dilip scowled at Naina, she quickly signalled him to remain quiet) Ab dekho na?.....Mrs. Shah ki bhi apni Yoga classes hain, aur Mrs. Kapoor ki Beti toh bachchon ko Jazz dance sikhati hai. Isiliye Dance teacher hona koi buri baat nahin, lekin stage per Dance karna........wo Khanna parivaar ki Bahu ko shobha nahin dega.
Angad listened to his Mom with a glum face. She had a point there.
Finally he relented: Theek hai, main Kripa ko aapkey Shart ke baarey mein bataoonga. BUT this will be HER DECISION! SHE will decide if she wants to quit Dancing after our marriage! Main uspar koi zor nahin daloonga aur main chahta bhi nahin ke wo Dance chhod de!
Naina smiled beguilingly: Beta, naa chahney per bhi aurat ko bahut kuchh chhodna padta hai........apna ghar parivaar, apna maayka. Waisey bhi baad mein jab tum dono ke bachchey hongey, tab usey Dance chhodna hi padega!
Angad flushed at the thought of Kripa having his babies. Dilip's scowl deepened, but he let Naina negotiate. She was a Meethi Chhuri........a knife that cut deep but didn't leave a mark!
Dilip cleared his throat: Aur mera doosra shart hai .......Kripa hamarey paksh mein gavahi degi. Agar Factory ke jalney ke maamla Court ya Enquiry tak pahuncha , ya phir Insurance Company ne koi Sawaal uthaya, toh tum dono ko Company ke paksh mein bolna padega.
Angad narrowed his eyes: You mean you want us to LIE for you and the Board!
HAAN!...... Dilip gazed steadily at him, challenging him to refuse.
Angad was incredulous: And why do u think we would agree to that? Aapki aur Board ke lalach aur laparwahi ki vajeh se main mazdooron ke haathon ghayal hua, aur ab Hospital mein hoon. Kripa ne meri jaan bachayi nahin toh wo log shayad mujhey maar hidaaltey! Why should we lie in Court for you?
Kyunki humFAMILY HAIN! Aur parivaar ke logon mein Unity hona zaroori hai! Agar tumney sach baat bataya, toh dosh tumpar bhi aayega ke tumney Board ko aagaah kyun nahin kiya? Company ka Policy follow kyun nahin kiya? You ordered those machines without approval of the Board. You will also be blamed for the explosion.
But Dad! You had given me a free hand in managing that Factory. I had every right to order those machines!
Free hand ka yeh matlab nahin ke tum laakhon- karodon ke machines order karo Board ke approval ke baghair ??
I don't care about Board Approval where Worker's safety is concerned. Mujhey laga wo machines dangerous hain isiliye mainey order kar diya. Lekin main Court mein jhoothi gavahi nahin doonga. Jo sach hai wahi kahoonga. Iskey liye main bhi doshi thehraya jaoon toh mujhey aitraaz nahin.
Naina intervened again: Beta, zara thandey dimaag se socho........agar Dad Jail gaye toh Company ka kya hoga? Court Cases se kisiko faida nahin hota, naa humko aur naa mazdooron ko.
Haan, tumhari Mom theek keh rahi hai?.........Dilip played his final hand : Agar tum aur Kripa hamarey paksh mein bologey toh hum ghayal mazdooron ko poori Compensation dengey. Aur unko hamari Uttarpada ki Factory mein kaam bhi dilvaa dengey. Yeh mera Vaada hai!
Angad clammed up. He realized it was no use arguing with his Dad regarding this. They were like opposite poles where Business Ethics were concerned and could never see eye to eye!
He halted their argument with his faux assent: ALRIGHT, DAD! Main aapki shartein Kripa ke saamney rakhunga. LEKIN.......FINAL decision uski hogi! Uska faisla jo bhi ho, aapko wo faisla achha lagey ya bura, MAIN Kripa se shadi zaroor karoonga.
Dilip opened his mouth to retort, Naina swiftly interrupted: Theek hai, Beta! Tum Kripa se baat karo, wo badi samajhdaar ladki hai. I'm sure wo sahi decision legi!
Angad pursed his lips cynically. He knew in his heart, if matters came down to an Enquiry, both he and Kripa would stand for the truth. They certainly wouldn't support the fake story concocted by the Board to save their own skin.
SACH!!! Her eyes lit up with joy: Main abhi Maa ko phone karkey aati hoon! ......she put down the bowl of Gajar ka Halwa she had brought for Angad and turned to leave.
Angad grabbed her hand, stopping her in mid-flight: Thehro, poori baat toh sunti jaao!
Poori Baat? Matlab? Her face fell: Kya ab bhi tumharey Dad ko problems hain?
Angad looked distinctly uncomfortable: Darasal, unkey kuchh shartein hain. .......he added quickly: But you don't have to agree to them!
Kaisi shartein? ......she frowned, and sat down beside him.
Angad's eyes reflected his angst: Pehla shart yeh.......Dad chahtey hain tum Dance chhod do!
Dance chhod doon? Kripa squealed with wide-eyed shock: Lekin KYUN?
Angad explained the whole complex issue of his parents' social status and prestige, the potential embarassment they feared if their "Bahu" danced on stage. But they were willing to let her teach Classical Dancing and would even build the Dance School for her.
He concluded: Lekin MAIN nahin chahta tum dance chhod do! I know Dancing is your Passion just like Music is.......was mine! Mainey Dad ki baat maankar Music chhod diya, ab tum aisi galti mat karna.
Kripa was silent for a few minutes, gazing thoughtfully at Angad as many emotions churned through her.
Hegazed sincerely into her eyes and pressed her fingers encouragingly: Kripa, you don't have to agree to Dad's conditions. Hum unki marzi ke baghair bhi shadi kar saktey hain.
Finally she said slowly: Toh unko mera Dance sikhana manzoor hai lekin mera dance karna pasand nahin?
Angad nodded: Yeah, I know that sounds absurd but that's how my parents feel.
Kripa suddenly made a decision: Theek hai! Mujhey manzoor hai!
WHAT??? Angad was shocked out of his wits: TUM.....AISEY HI.......DANCE CHHOD DOGI? Merey DAD ke kehney per?
She smiled and stroked his angry red cheeks: Unkey kehney per nahin .TUMHAREY liye Dance chhod doongi. Waisey bhi main soch rahi thi.....Im too old for Dancing.
KYA BAK RAHI HO? Angad was quite angry and upset at her easy cave-in: TOO OLD? Give me a Break! You're too YOUNG to quit! Main tumhey Dance chhodney nahin doonga, Dad jo bhi kahein!
She smiled gently: Dance kahan chhod rahi hoon? Main Dance sikhaoongi, bachchey perform karengey. Done deal!
Lekin iska matlab tum Stage per Dance nahin karogi? .....he sulked......Do u know, jab tum stage per naachti ho toh Apsara jaisi dikhti ho! LikePoetry in motion! ......his eyes turned dreamy.
Apsara? .....she looked flattered and amused: Kaun si? Menaka ya Urvashi ya Rambha?
His eyes darkened, he flushed suddenly, recalling his erotic dream ! She had hit the nail on the head ! She WAS his Menaka, she had broken his Tapasya and now he was super-eager to relinquish his bachelorhood and break his vow of celibacy.
Kripa saw the look in his eyes and blushed, trying to pull her fingers away from his grip.
Her heightened senses reacted to the touch of his lips, to the desire in his smoky eyes. Her eyes fell before his gaze, then raised again with sudden impish mischief: Toh theek hai, Angad! Agar tumhey mera Dance itna pasand hai toh main tumhey "Private" performance doongi!
Private matlab? You mean???..... .his eyes brightened as his heated imagination conjured up the erotic possibilites of her offer. She, dressed as Menaka in their boudoir,He, as the amorous sage! The possibilities were endless!
She started giggling at his bemused, red-faced, dreamy-eyed state and squeezed his taut, male cheeks teasingly: Itney sapney mat dekho, Merey Tamatar! Kahin toot naa jaye!
His eyes gleamed dangerously, he tried to yank her closer with his good arm: YOU come here.......
She quickly looked at the door over his shoulder and exclaimed: NAINA AUNTY!
Angad let her go at once and jerked around to see......his Mom wasn't there! Kripa had tricked him! He had fallen for the oldest trick in the book.
Kripa burst out into peals of laughter: Kyun kha gaye na Dhokha, merey Sher? Badey aaye hain,Mr. Aashiq ! Sponge Bath ka badla lekar rahoongi!
He narrowed his eyes at her: Just wait ! Main iss dhokhey ka badla lekar rahoonga. Mujhey ullu banati hai? Shadi ke baad dekh loonga!
Main bhi tumhey dekh loongi! ....her eyes sparkled with excitement, her heart pounded, she became breathless.
His eyes challenged her heatedly.......the air in the room crackled with the charge of their unrequited Passion.
The magic spell was broken by the Nurse's entry with a tray of food : Mr. Khanna, aapkey dawai leney ka waqt ho gaya, Dinner khaa leejiye.
Angad obediently had dinner brought by his Mom, then Kripa lovingly spoon-fed the Gajar ka Halwa to him. He enjoyed every bite, staring at her pink cheeks, enjoying all the caring and affection from his bride-to-be.
As soon as the Nurse left them alone, he clasped Kripa's free hand: Ab toh Dad ne bhi manzoori de dee........jaisa ke tum chahti thi. Ab hamari shadi mein koi rukavat nahin hogi.
Kripa bit back her doubts about Mamoni.......what if she protests against this marriage? Just because Angad was Dilip Khanna's son? Why did Mamoni hate Angad's Dad so much?
Bolo, shadi karogi naa mujhsey? His voice deepened with love.
She nodded silently, looking down shyly.
Toh agley Somvaar ko main aa raha hoon apney Parents ke saath tumharey ghar, tumhara haath maangney, Roka ka rasm lekar.
Roka? Wo kya hai?......she looked up in wonder.
He laughed: Mujhey kya pata? Mom ne kaha Roka pehley hoga, mainey bataa diya. Yeh sab reeti-rivaaz aurton ka kaam hai.
She looked at him archly: Oh Really? Aur mardon ka kaam kya hai?
He winked: Mardon ka kaam hota hai Suhaag raat aur Honeymoon per!
She slapped his hand, glaring at him : Chhheee, One-track mind!
He laughed and opened his mouth for more Gajar ka Halwa.
***************************************************************************************
Jai Maa Durga ! KhannaBabu maan gaye! Kripa ki shadi bhi fix ho gayi! Merey Betey aur Beti dono ki shadi hogi! Kripa, wo log Somvaar ko kyun aa rahey hain? Hey Raam, itni jaldi main kaisey tayyari karoon? Yeh Roka kya hota hai?
Kripa shrugged: Mujhey kya pata? Hoga koi Punjabi shadi ka rivaaz!
Theek hai, main pados ke Mrs. Aggarwal se poochh loongi. .....Gayatri beamed from ear to ear.
But Anirbaan was a proud man: Lekin Geetu, Angad ke parents ne abhi tak humein contact nahin kiya.
Angad bahut samajhdaar ladka hai! .....The adoring Saas certified her future Damaad.
Kartik chewed on a Chicken leg with great gusto and chuckled : Dekha, Shona? Main kehta tha na teri shadi sabsey pehley hogi? Ab dekh, teriPalki sabsey pehley uthegi!
Lekin Dada, tum aur Aaliyah bhi toh shadi kar rahey ho?.....she protested with a red face.
Arey, hamari shadi itni jaldi kahan? Agley haftey Darjeeling jaana hai, Aliyah ke Mama-Papa ko manana hai, phir Shadi ki baat taye hogi, phir wo log Kalkatta ayengey, Maa-Baba se milengey. Its still a LONG way to go! Lekin Angad?.......hes in a GREAT hurry. Kartik's eyes twinkled teasingly at Kripa: Lagta hai Chat Mangni aur Pat Byah kar lega. Isiliye shadi ke daud mein tu hi FIRST ho gayi!
Kripa blushed and stammered: Dada, tum bhi naa!! Main .....nahin, Angad ko hi...... (she stopped abruptly, realizing she couldn't tell in front of her parents that Angad was in a great hurry to get married)
She quickly changed the topic: Maa, kya Prithvi ko sachmuch Saregamapa mein chance mila hai?
Gayatri's face darkened, remembering Damini's taunts about Kripa: Nahin, Shona, Prithvi auditions ke liye gaya hai. Abhi tak selected nahin hua.
Kripa frowned: Naa jaaney aajkal Prithvi Da hamarey Dance school kyun nahin aatey? Aur mujhey kuchh batatey bhi nahin......pata nahin kyun?
Chhod unsab baaton ko.........ab bataa, tu apni shadi kiBenarasi Sari kahan se khareedegi? Uttar Kalkattase ya Gariahat se?.........Gayatri's dream of shopping for her daughter's wedding was soon to be fulfilled!
Maa, pehley Mangni, Sagai yeh sab toh honay deejiye, Kripa laughed......phir hum saath chalengey, shadi ki shopping karney!
Lekin Shona, Time kahan? Angad agley mahiney shadika date chahtahai.........phir toh waqt bahut kam hai......
Mishti sat mum throughout the wedding discussions, dining silently, rather picking at her food. Kripa suddenly became aware of her silence: Didi! Tum chalogi naa hamarey saath shopping karney?
Nahin!......Mishti's tone was harsh and envious: Merey Exams hain! Mujhey apna career banana hai, terey jaisi shadi karkey settle nahin hona hai itni jaldi.
Kripa flinched and became silent. She realized Mishti was terribly jealous of her impending marriage with Angad. It irked Mishti that her little sister was soon to be wedded to the man she loved, whereas Josh showed no inclinationof marrying her. Kripa prayed to God that Mishti would get out of her sick obsession with Josh and realize what kind of a man he was!
Kripa blanched in horror! NOOOO! Didi couldn't fall prey to that unfaithful cad, that disgusting Demon ! She had to stop Dee somehow! She must talk to Shabbir right now!
***********************************************************************
Josh was reeling in the FISH....... a Fish called Mishti. He was an expert angler and this was his last bid to get what he wanted.
Ever since the Holi incidents and getting bashed up by Angad, Josh had been nursing his Grudge. He wanted Revenge! And what better revengeon Kripa than seducing her sister and dumping her? Mishti was dumb.......the more he ignored her, the more desperate she would get.....and that's when he would go for the kill!
His web was spread, he ignored her call again.
Sheetal asked throatily: Kiska call hai, Darling?
Oh, its nobody! You know merey kitney Fans hain? Lekin main sirf tumhara Deewana hoon! I want only YOU, Babe!
He fondled Sheetal's generous curves, she moaned and sighed, and soon the bubbling water was swirling even more with their coupling.
Later that night, when Sheetal was sleeping in his bed, he tiptoed to the Hall outside and called Mishti.
She was gratified to get his call back: Josh, tum kahan the itney din? Main roz tumhey call karti hoon, tum uthatey kyun nahin? Whats the matter? Are you alright?
Josh smiled like the Devil that he was : Actually Mishti, I was busy with work. Aur meri tabiyat bhi kuchh theek nahin tha.......I got a chill from Holi.
Actually he had a black eye and big blue bruise on his cheek from Angad'sthrashing, so he had hidden himself from public view.
Mishti melted at once with compassion: Awwww, poor you! Tum beemar the, mujhey bula letey? Main tumhara Ilaaj karti?
Josh smiled broadly : Ok, toh kal aa jaao yahan ......come tomorrow to my place, shaam ke Aath bajey. See you then, Babes!
Mishti agreed at once, her heart flooding with warmth, Josh still wanted her, he loved her:
Alright, I will come to your place tomorrow! I have to talk to you.
Talking wasn't exactly what Josh had in mind but he agreed: Okay, Babes, see u tomorrow at Eight!
