Salman turns daredevil
The actor insisted on performing his own stunts
Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone or Sanjay Dutt. Stars, starlets, big and small are all insisting on doing their own stunts in films. Be it on top of a building or under the sea, Bollywood is seemingly getting more and more adventurous these days.
Even the inspirational Salman Khan is all set to perform some dare-devilish stunts for his next; Wanted: Deal Or Alive. Recently, an action scene had to be shot on the top of a building overlooking Mahalakshmi race course in Mumbai.
The stunt coordinator suggested that the actor use a body double but the brawny Khan insisted on doing it himself.
"Choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva spoke to Salman and tried to convince him to use a stand by," reveals a source. "But the actor was in no mood to listen. He has worked out a lot in the past few months but people were still worried because being 'fit' doesn't mean one can perform a dangerous stunt. Prabhu Deva eventually gave in. But as soon as the actor had shot the first rehearsal flawlessly, the director had no choice but to eat his words. Even the on-looks, cast and crew gave the actor a huge applause."
Wanted: Dead Or Alive is about a cop who goes undercover as a goon. It is a remake of the Telugu superhit Pokkiri. Produced by Boney Kapoor, the film also stars Ayesha Takia and is slated to release in July 2009.
