Prachi Desai is not a stranger to Bollywood anymore. An immensely popular television actress, Prachi Desai shot to fame with her performance in Farhan Akhtar's debut acting movie, Rock On!!. Interestingly, Prachi Desai did not have much presence in Rock On!!, but she showed a great sense of maturity through her performance. A simple middle class girl, Prachi Desai is now dreaming big. Here are some interesting facts about this talented actress:

• Prachi Desai was born in Gujarat but grew up in Panchgani.

• Till 8^th standard, she was a good student, but then, she lost interest in studying.

• In college, Prachi Desai did not follow any fashion trends. In her school days, she used to have big nail and sported different haircuts despite strict restrictions.

• Prachi Desai studied in a girl's school. In college, she studied till 11^th standard and then came to Mumbai when she was in 12^th standard. She has always been very busy. There was no time for disco and other things.

• In college, during the weekends, Prachi Desai used to go to the movies or shopping with her friends. She used to go to the birthday parties of her friends. Now, she remains busy all the time.

• Prachi Desai did not face opposition from her parents regarding her career choice but they always told her to finish her studies. She stayed in hostel during her college years.

• While she was in college, Prachi Desai had good friendship with a girl named Manti. She was from Burma and they had a great time together.

• During her school years, Shahid Kapoor used to be Prachi Desai's favorite hero. Now, it is Hrithik Roshan.

• One fine day, while Prachi Desai was shooting for her TV Reality Dance Show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, she got a phone call from Rock On!! director, Abhishek Kapoor. She still did not know that she was going for her screen test. Upon arrival, they told her to wear some clothes that will be wore by her character in the movie and she spoke a few lines and she was selected. Everything happened very fast. Before Prachi Desai could understand, she had been chosen to star with Farhan Akhtar in Rock On!!.

• Many of you might not know but Prachi Desai sang few lines in Rock On!! The Kasamh Se actress said that one day while shooting for her serial, she got a call from Rock On!! director, Abhishek Kapoor. He told her to come to the studio. Prachi Desai thought that it might have to do something with discussing the movie script. As she reached the studio, she found out that it was a music studio and she was wondering whether she came to the wrong place. Then Abhishek Kapoor told her to sing a few lines. Prachi Desai was told earlier that she would have to sing but she did not think it would happen so fast. Prachi Desai was not a trained singer and she was afraid but then everything went fine and the recording finished within few minutes. The song she sang was not included in the music album but in the movie.

• Among the songs of Rock On!!, Prachi Desai's favorite numbers are 'Yeh Tumhari Meri Batein' and 'Phir Dekhiye.' Prachi Desai also liked the slow romantic song, 'Tum Ho Toh' sung by Farhan Akhtar.

• Now days, Prachi Desai listens to the songs of Rock On!! all the time. She even snatches way her friends' cell-phones and put the Rock On!! call tune.

• Prachi Desai started her acting career at the age of 16. At that time, she was studying in Class XII in Pune. She auditioned for a teenager show of Balaji Telefilms and ended up playing the lead role in Kasamh Se.

• Prachi Desai enrolled into BA course in Mithibai College but she does not get time to attend college as she remains busy shooting.

• Along with appearing in TV serials and movies, Prachi Desai did reality shows. She appeared in two reality dance competition shows- Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 and Yeh Hai Jalwa. In both these shows, Prachi Desai became immensely popular. She was the winner of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

• Prachid Desai's mother accompanies her to the shooting. However, her mother does not interfere in her movies. She remains in the vanity van.

• Prachi Desai may have shot big in Bollywood, she is still the same simple sweet girl she has been all the time. She loves soft toys and loves to go to sleep at night hugging her favorite teddy bear. She also has the middle class mentality. Prachi Desai does not believe in exposing. She also do not like to waste dresses wearing only once. In Bollywood, seen twice in the same dress is a very bad thing.

• Prachi Desai started her career from Balaji Telefilms. She was one of the favorite actresses of Balaji Telefilms head, Ekta Kapoor. However, Ekta Kapoor made Prachi Desai work harder compared to her other actors. Prachi Desai had very good relations with Ekta Kapoor's family. Ekta Kapoor said:

Honestly, Prachi is like a part of our family. My father, mother and I have adopted her. But as a producer I tortured the hell out of her. I made her work harder than any of my actors just because I was so close to her. Prachi feels that was unfair. But I didn't want to be accused of favouritism. Now she's moved on,"

• Ekta Kapoor told Prachi Desai to give at least five month's notice before leaving the work. Ekta Kapoor made her do extra work. Prachi Desai had no other option but to shoot for her reality TV show, Kasamh Se and Rock On!! She was under serious pressure and became ill, but she had great spirit and she continued working. Ekta Kapoor was very happy that Prachi Desai went into movies. She let her go without any protest. She even suggested her to try out in movies for six to eight months. If things do not work out, then she could return to Balaji. Last but not least, Abhishek Kapoor who directed Rock On!!, is Ekta Kapoor's first cousin. In real sense, Prachi Desai did not actually live Ekta Kapoor.

• Interestingly, the actors and actresses who found success through Ekta Kapoor's serial could not shine much in movies but Prachi Desai is exceptional. Prachi Desai is fortunate enough that she does not have to go to the movie producers for work. Instead, they are calling her and approach her to work in their movies.

• Ekta Kapoor refers Prachi Desai as her "Blue-eyed-baby." Ekta Kapoor thinks that Prachi Desai resembles a lot with Anil Kapoor's daughter, Sonam Kapoor.

• Prachi Desai had to play the role of mother in Kasamh Se but he did not like it at all. At that time, she was just seventeen years old and in the serial, she was an eighteen year old girl who was married to this forty year old guy (Ram Kapoor). She agreed that there are girls who became mother at 18 but it was not their choice.

"I hate the idea of playing mother. The mere thought of what lies ahead gives me goose bumps. The narration we (Ram Kapoor and Prachi) had with Nivi (Nivedita is the creative head) was quite depressing. She said we were going to have kids. It's so traumatic to have a child with a 40-year-old man when you are just 18!"
