Akashh Deep Saigal is back in the news for roughing up Kyunki's episode programmer Sandeep on Thursday night.
Says a unit member present during the incident, "When Akashh Deep was called onto the set by Sandeep, he had to wait for a few minutes as the shot was still being readied.
He lost his temper and abused the assistant director saying, 'I've told you several times not to call me till the shot is ready!' When Sandeep intervened, Akashh started shouting at him too. The actor has had a problem with him for some time now. He said he wouldn't shoot till Sandeep went away. So he left and the shooting got completed."
However, things were back to square one on Thursday morning. Reveals our source, "We were just about to start shooting when Akashh spotted Sandeep and said he wouldn't shoot till he got an apology from the EP, but Sandeep refused to apologise. Then Akashh really lost it and demanded that Sandeep leave the set again. When he refused, Akashh threw his cup of tea at him. Sandeep was really shaken up."
The big chase
However, that wasn't all. Continues the unit member, "Akashh then picked up a brick and started chasing Sandeep.
That's when director Shyam Maheshwari and actor Manav Vij (who plays Bhoomi's husband, Joydeep) intervened along with five others, but Akashh roughed up Manav too. He told him, 'Please don't interfere or I will hit you too.' But Manav stood firm. Akashh finally took the brick and ran away."
Post the incident, Sandeep has filed a police complaint against Akashh. Apparently, Saigal threatened him saying that he would "call some people to beat him up."
'I'm the boss'
Several actors from Kyunki are also upset with Akashh's behaviour. Says the source, "After the incident, Akashh kept screaming, 'I'm the boss here and all the other actors are nobodies.' Obviously, they are pissed off.
Akashh is very strange sometimes. He is a very good friend and will go out of his way to help you, but when he gets angry he behaves very badly."
Meanwhile, the creative director of the show, Shivangi Chauhan, director Shyam Maheshwari and actor Manav Vij prefer to remain tight-lipped about the incident. The buzz in Balaji is that Sandeep will now be replaced and put to work on another show.
When we spoke to Akashh Deep, he feigned ignorance about the incident. "There was no fight; this is all crap. I have no problem with Sandeep or anyone in Balaji. Balaji is like my family. Why should I have problems with anyone there?"
As for good friend Ekta Kapoor, she said, "I really don't know what happened on the sets that day, but I think Akashh Deep is an awesome guy."
