I've only watched a few early epis of this show....
And I agree with a lot of the points that have been made about the clothing, the tampering with the original story, and strange characterizations.
For me personally, the biggest eyesore in this show is that Mama Shakuni....HORRIBLE casting....he looks like a caricaturish clown! And the over the top acting and all is even more ugghh!
And like someone just said, the clothing etc. wouldn't even matter much if the storyline was good and the characterization was done properly...but no, Ekta had to go ahead and use her time tested formulas of OTT villians, zooming camera angles etc....the works.
Someone posted clips of the old MB here and just watching one clip made me appreciate it a million times more than this farce of Ekta's....even the sidey actors in that MB were better than some of the main leads in this show!
Where in God's name did she find the clowns that are portraying the young Pandavas, Kauravas, Pandu etc.....and the actor portraying Dhritarashtra just cracks me up for some reason😆
The only portrayals that have been impressive in this show are Ronit Roy as Bheeshma...he lends a dignity to the character in all the other craziness...and Satyavati...ditto on the dignity. I liked Sakshi Tanwar's Ganga as well, but it got OTT....the young Devrat was good as well....baaki can't say much.

yeah..from where did she get these people who're playing young pandavas and kauravas! did u notice all of them are of the same height? 'were they born on the same day? there's nothing like elder and younger. Ekta Kapoor is pathetic in mathematics and age calculations.

I wanted to stress on one thing. Whatever the style and color of costumes be, they should be DECENT. I don't want to comment on the clothes of Godess Earth and Godess Parvati . At least spare Gods from dressing up shabbily . We don't want to visualize our Gods this way. Nobody is complaining that she didn't copy BR's Mahabharat..tht wud be ridiculous to say that everybody must copy the original Mahabharat. . may be it's me..i don't relate to her "perception of Mahabharat". If therez no accnt of the clothes worn at that time that doesn't mean she can experiment with it. She has fabulously shown Ganpati (she's a staunch follower of Ganeshji) to the minutest detail ....but she hasn't done justice with all the Gods and of course the characters of Mahabharat. They are a part of an epic which is respected in the Hindu religion. They were not normal ppl. from the history (even if we assume Mahabharat is just a story) ...What they wore, what they spoke, what they did matters a lot..Ekta can't show her own interpretation of Geeta right? or can she? 😕
Charu

Knowing Ekta, I think she probably will show her own interpretation of the Geeta! Seriously, can't anyone stop her? And about the clothing, I agree with you. There's no account of how it looked back then, but it certainly is proved in the text that they didn't look Greekian. Plus, it says in the Mahabharat story that the Kurus has a lot of wealth. In this show, where is the wealth? Where is anything? There is no dignity, and especially no bhakti in Ekta's MB.
And personally, I believe the Mahabharat did happen. There's been evidence found, that along with MB, the Ramayan also happened. ⭐️

Hi Folks

I ve been watching the constant tussle between the new MB lovers and haters, and thought it might be a good idea to list the good points of her Mahabharat. There are a few, inspite of her rewriting the script!
1) The clothes
For me this is the biggest plus. They are not garish unlike other mythologies and as for being immodest, well men and women 3000 years ago wore nothing but jewellery on the top half so its less immodest than reality! :) I suppose considering our Victorian mentality nowadays its impossible to believe, but if you see sculptures in old temples, they are very much like what people wore in those days.
One suggestion though: Considering that India is known for colours and beautiful embroidery, could Manish Malhotra pls give us some really trend setting clothes in a variety of colours and not just the black uniform that the people of Hastinapur seem to wear?

I find some of the points you made are right, but personally, I never found the jewellry and clothing in the other Mahabharat garish. I found them dainty, glamorous, and it added to the royal feeling of the kings and queens in the epic. Just my opinion though.😆

Completely agree with nureat01 that the biggest eyesore is Shakuni.

The two main central characters of Mahabharata are Krishna and Shakuni. Personally speaking, I feel she should have cast very strong actor to play the role of Shakuni and one more research on Shakuni

Ekta's changing Shakuni's character into a magician now! I know he was wicked and very intelligent but since when did he become an expert in black magic?
