First of all, I want to write that Mahabharata is NOT Ekta's to change and add as she pleases. It was written by Lord Ganesha with Sage Vyasa narating it. And it is such a beautiful and heartfelt epic, with enough drama to satisfy anyone, so why is Ekta ruining it? And no offense to her, but in Vyasa's Mahabharata and even in the Bhagavata Purana, it describes the dress code of people living back then, and unlike she thinks, they did NOT wear hideous greek outfits. No jewellry, no glamour, no bhakti...this Mahabharat is a complete flop and very inaccurate from the REAl story.

I read somewhere in this forum that it is against the rules to compare two shows, so I'm comparing the real story from Ekta's show. I hope it's okay.

You are absolutely right. She has no right whatsoever, to add stories as per will and also dress the characters as she wishes.
I wonder how come the moderators, who are supposed to have enough knowledge about the epic, supports her in every way and try to put down people who are trying to say that Ekta is not doing right with the epic. I hope the moderators know what is meant by "interpretation".

No buddy, itz not against forum rules.. the global moderator himself (or herself) has agreed to do so.. only thing not allowed is to post something rude or bash against someone else personally...
so keep comparing! 😛

Well in that case...B.R. Chopra's Mahabharat was better! I'm not saying it doesn't have any faults and is perfect, but that it was taken accurately. There are ups and downs with every show, even with Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan (which is my life by the way), but the accuracy of the purana, beauty of the characters (not the looks, the style of acting), and bringing that time period into our modern world are VERY essential for making a mythological serial. For example, NDTV Ramayan has done that very nicely, and unlike Ekta thinks, it is not boring to watch serials with the same kind of dressing, setting, etc...She could have done what the Sagars had done: using technology to enhance the setting, but changing it completely, like she has done, is not right or moral to do so, because it is NOT hers to change as she pleases. I think she should read this forum, because I'm not trying to be rude to her. I just want to give her advice which could make her serial better.

Ekta should have used her strengths like enough funding, apt and dedicated actors for treating the epic in the best possible way. She started at an advantageous position, as the epic in itself is so great. She didn't need to attract the audience by showing the flesh of beautiful girls. People would have even accepted her dress-designing, had it been decent. The way Satyabati dresses, is just shameful. The lady who plays Satyabati is so pretty, she does not need to expose herself, to get audience appreciation.

I dont watch KMMK, but as far as I know, Krishna did "Kaliyadaman", when he was a kid. But the person whose picture I see now-a-days is quite grown up. I dont know in which Mahabharata this is written. Even for the "RAASLEELA", Krishna was not full-grownup individual, although Radha was.

Anyways, we can only wish, that Ekta corrects herself. But I feel she is probably taking care of the dress of women. We see Gandhari, Kunti in more decent dresses than Satyabati, Ambika and Ambalika.

I sure hope so.😊 The Mahabharat is a great epic, and if made decently, could become really popular. However, I don't think we can expect too much from Ekta, because recently, I read an interview of hers, and in it, she thinks that her show is so famous that it doesn't need change. Also, she keeps stressing individuality and creativity, and insists that since Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni wrote Palace of Illusions in her own way, why can't she make her own kind of Mahabharat? By the way, Palace of Illusions is an outrageous book in Draupadi's point of view about everything that happened. If you ever read it, you will know what I meant by outrageous.
It is really quite horrible how in these days, puranas are changing to fit the modern people's lifestyle.

her Mahabharat fails miserably in the costumes department. Either the women are overdressed or underdressed. there's a lot of emphasis on the jewellery. the special effects & zooming cameras doesn't give it an epic look n feel. I don't like the actors too..but then the characters r so strong, they make the actors likeable.

Hi, can someone please tell me what happened in the last four episodes of Ekta's Mahabharat? I was unable to watch them due to lots of work. I would really appreciate it. Thank you...
