Hey guys I was watching Balika Badhu and this idea popped up. This is my first attempt at writing so just bear with me. The only idea of child marriage is from the movie, rest is my own. I am also thankful to Balaji Telefilms for using the characters of their famous serial Kasam se.Let me know how it turn out .
Samjhauta
part1

It was the most talked about wedding of the year. The most eligible bachelor of the country was getting married, Jai Walia was getting married to a girl of his parents choice. At the last moment the girl ran away as she had initially agreed to this marriage due to her parents pressure but she loved somebody else and she preferred her love over the choice of her parents. But what were Uday Walia , father of Jai Walia and Ramakant Dixit , father of the wretched girl, supposed to do to save their face from all the shame and insults that were thrown on them by destiny.

Uday Walia who was not only known for his business acumen but also for his stands in social and personal matters was at his wits end, he was the one who had persuaded Jai to get married to this girl as this would be good for their business, as both the families had earned a good name in business and their collaboration would bring out more name, success and wealth to the already earned. Ramakant has lost his daughter, he had already decided he will never see her in his life but he needs to protect his family name and business for the sake of his only son Daksh. So the very first idea that came to his mind he went ahead for its implementation. He suggested Uday Walia to get his niece sit in place of his daughter in the mandap with Jai. Uday wanted to know whether the girl was ready for this or not for which he was assured well by Ramakant. Uday met Ramakant's sister in law Kiran who was a widow and had two daughters and was living with them for the last few years. Ramakant had suggested that the elder daughter would sit in place of his daughter.

The wedding took place in traditional Hindu way, the bride's face was covered with the veil and so nobody could make out that it was some other girl in place of Ramakant Dixit's daughter, not even Jai.

Jai was shell shocked when he found a very young girl dressed as a bride sitting beside him when he opened her veil to put sindoor in her maang. But before he could react he saw his father sitting across him and gesturing with his eyes to carry on the rasam and that the issue will be dealt with later. The whole ceremony after that was done mechanically by jai who was in a daze. He didn't know what he had landed himself into by agreeing to his father's whim.

After reaching the Walia mansion there was a huge argument between father and son. Though Jai was an obedient son but he had his own ideologies and principles. The business that was started as a mere canteen in a school was developed into a full fleged well running hotel by Udai Walia, but it was all the efforts of Jai that he changed that simple hotel into a five star hotel only after two years into looking after his fathers business along with Aditya, his brother in law and after that he never looked back. Within a time period of six years he had opened another hotel and taken over three old hotels, ventured into hospitality as a take over mogul. He was a shrewd businessman who knew when to take what decision, which he had inherited from his father and the only extra effect came from his qualification as he did his MBA in finance whereas his father was a college dropout. But on emotional front, the Walias were a very close knit family. Jai had his share of girlfriends but when his father asked him for this marriage proposal he could not say no as he himself had not found anybody with whom he could think of settling down. He wanted somebody loving and caring like his mother but also qualified and modern like his sister. He did find lots of girls like his sister but none of them had that quality of his mother and he did not want to spend the rest of his life with a heartless and self centred woman.

But howcome could his father marry him to a child, the girl was hardly a teenager, though he himself could see the other motive of his father to get him married in that family. But business expansion is something else and doing something which is neither morally right nor legally was beyond his thinking. No one dare to speak in between the father and the son. While Krishna Walia, Jai's mother was crying, Jigyasa and Aditya were speechless as they had never seen Jai talking to his father in that manner. Though Jai Walia was famous for his arrogant, ruthless and short tempered behaviour within his employees but none at the Walia mansion and specially his parents and his sister and her family have seen or rather had a chance to themselves bear his foul mood.

He was constantly accusing his father for selling him for a merger which was nothing in comparison to what he could have earned himself within months. Uday Walia tried to reason out to his son that he was not aware that the girl was forced to marry against her wish and decided to run away at the last moment. To save both the families from disgrace it was decided that Ramakant would make his neice sit in place of his daughter. But it was not disclosed that the girl was a minor. He was only informed that the girl's father had died 5 years ago and she was living with Ramakant and his family. Even the girl's grandfather and mother approved of the suggestion. If the girl was a minor, atleast the mother should have said something or have shown some signs of disapproval.

In a fit of anger Jai went to his room, Bani was sitting there like a statue, she was not at all aware of what was happening around her. She could not believe her fate. She was a young girl who had only appeared in her Xth board exams and had yet not decided anything for her future. She thought she would enjoy her cousin's marriage and after that find a nice summer job and take her time to decide which stream she really wanted to join. It was not that she was a carefree girl, she was way mature than her age, a girl who had lost her father at a tender age of 10, staying with her mother and younger sister at her grandfather's place. Her grandfather had disowned his younger son, Bani's father, Nishikant Dixit because he had married to a girl of his own choice against his father's wish and more than feeling sorry and asking for his forgiveness, Nishikant preferred to take his wife and stay away from the old man and never looked back. This was enough for Radheshyam Dixit to cut off all ties from his younger son and pass on all his property to his elder son Ramakant. But when the news of Nishikant's death came the old man could not forgive himself for not listening to his son at least once. Kiran, Nishikant's wife and her two daughters Bani and Rano had no place to go as she too had cut off from her family and though she was teaching in a school and earning enough to make the two ends meet but she was afraid as to how will she raise her daughters without the presence of a male in a society where a single beautifull female living alone is like giving invitation to problems. Though Radheshyam Dixit had sworn that he would never see his younger son and his wife but he could not leave the young girls, who were his own blood, on the mercy of this world. Keeping his pride aside he asked kiran to come along with him.

'What's your age? Ayee ladki kitne saal ki ho tum? Sunai nahi deta kya?'

'kis class main padhti ho?' Jai was shouting at the top of his lungs. She was too afraid to reply when all she could see was a man with blood shot eyes and ready to kill attitude, he dragged her to the living room where the whole family was sitting. Ramakant was asked to come and take away this girl because if the news of child marriage got out, it would end in jail for the Walias and the Dixits. The reception was cancelled on the pretext of Krishna Walia's illness and later it was told that Sonali, Jai's bride had gone abroad to finish her studies.

hey Clare,
Nice story. Do continue. I really liked the concept. While Anandi in BB is all spunky and lively, Bani seems a bit too demure. I hope we get to see a different side of Bani.
