Starting 25th August 2008, Rubi will air on 9X every Monday and Tuesday at 9.30 pm. This one-hour show is based on a story of a middle class girl who believes that she was made for better things in life and will not allow life to put her in a situation of hopelessness and penury.
Produced by B.A.G Films, Rubi is an engaging story of a free spirited, headstrong yet naive girl who tries too hard to win in life. She aspires to lead the good life and believes in doing
whatever it takes to get it. Rubi's family is firmly rooted in the values of honesty and integrity, but her world, full of love and protection, comes apart when Life deals her a stern hand. With no money and home, Rubi decides to move to Mumbai to try and break away from her past.
The dilemma between rooted family values and her desire to succeed, chronicles Rubi's journey.
Starring television stars such as Chahat Khanna, Ali Merchant and Gautam Rodhe, among others, Rubi will unveil a great new talent in the form of Swasti Sinha, who plays the title role of Rubi.

Rubi Dewan:

The younger daughter of Vinay Dewan, a humble government official in a small town in
Northern India… Rubi is a typical small town girl. She always had finer taste in life – right from childhood – but discipline and value system guarded her from treading the wrong path in order to fulfill her desires… The constant inner struggle within self is what enhances beauty of the character. Whether it comes to love, pride and possessions, Rubi constantly struggles with what values her family has given her, and the values that she has learnt on her own, and invariably she ends up making the wrong choice.
Yuvraj Kashyap:
(Played by Gautam Rode)
Yuvraj is a doctor by profession & comes from a middle class family. He is attractive, intelligent, decisive and self assured man who values love above all things. He is a dedicated son, loving brother and a very loyal friend to Aakash. He always faces hardships in his personal life, yet his character gets strengthened by each hardship that he encounters. Yuvraj is constantly inventing and re-inventing the definition of life and preading positivity all around. He has an insight and perspective which makes him unique. He has always been in control of his emotions -- until he falls in love...
Mira Rai:
(Played by Chahat Khanna)
Mira Rai is a rich, warm and beautiful girl, very delicate and innocent in demeanor. Mira is a
genuine person with a heart of gold. Due to her physical inability she is very shy and has very few friends. Mira has a sensible mind and a caring heart, she mostly expresses her feelings by writing poetry and her good sense of humor rarely allows her to cry. She considers Rubi as her best friend

Kunal Oberoi is the adopted son of Mrs and Mr Sankalp Oberoi, and Yuvraj's best friend. A hot shot architect who is successful and has a great sense of beauty. He is mature and loves to have complete control over his life and destiny. He is pretty committed and never drifts from his decisions. He is a perfectionist...whether its life or love. He loves to write his own destiny and gets baffled whenever he realizes that everything cannot happen the way he expects it to. He is committed and rarely wavers from his decisions.
