Life with Salman hasn't been easy...

Katrina on Yesterday, Today and the Morrow
"That's destiny, not in my hands or Salman's hands or Akshay's hands", says the fair lady who is ruling the Bollywood charts, this season.
PEOPLE magazine quotes Katrina Kaif as she recounts the nervous first steps of her journey to stardom: "I didn't know anyone except for Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan). He had a statue at Madame Tussauds".
Barely five years ago had the strikingly beautiful damsel landed in Mumbai with little more than her dreams and ambitions. A successful modelling stint opened the window to Bollywood, the land of dream merchants. In the beginning, everyone was a stranger.
Her debut movie, 'Boom', turned out to be a big budget catastrophe and there was little to promise her of a better tomorrow. Her linguistic shortcomings too worked against her.
One man changed her fate. One man held her hand and led her up the winding staircase of fame. Katrina tells PEOPLE: Salman Khan and the "tremendously wonderful people in his family embraced me and included me in their family circle."
Ace director David Dhawan corroborates: "I met her through Salman only."
Pahlaj Nihalani says it was only because of Salman that Katrina made it to the big league and "got to work with the right people and in the right manner".
Still, life in Bollywood was far from the proverbial bed of roses. PEOPLE quotes Katrina: "I used to call my mum every day, and she was in London then…at times it used to be like the end of the world. I used to cry buckets of tears."
But Katrina draws the line at this point.
"Ask Salman a question about me and he wouldn't answer." says Katrina about her relationship with Salman that "hasn't been easy".
"I'm sure I have been taken for granted but no one is to be blamed for that except for myself. If you cannot give yourself that respect then how can other people give you that respect?"
Perhaps in a mood of justification, she goes on to say, "There are no rules in a relationship". As her latest flick 'Singh is Kinng' makes waves at the box office, this is one lady who can afford to be candid.
