Tassnim Sheikh (Mohini of Kyunki) lost out to Rakshanda Khan (Jassi) and Urvashi Dholakia (Kasautii), who shared the award for Best Actor in a Negative Role (Female), at the Indian Telly Awards on Sunday night, but the swaying of her hips to Tumhari adao pe vaari (Mangal Pandey) has won her an item number in Ekta Kapoor's Kaisa ye Pyar Hai (Sony).
Tassnim Sheikh
On Thursday, Sheikh will be seen gyrating to Balle balle kudiyon ke rang dekh lo (from Bride and Prejudice) in a peacock-blue churidar kameez. The dance was shot on Monday, at Sankraman Studios.
She's the girl!
Tassnim tells hitList, "While I was returning home, I got a call from Balaji that they wanted me to shoot for Kaisa ye Pyar Hai, the next day. They said they had been searching for a girl for this dance since quite a while, and didn't know she was right in their midst!"
When Tassnim reached the Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai set on Monday evening, her clothes were ready. "It's not tough to get perfectly fitting clothes at Balaji. This production house is a godown of clothes, of all sizes and colours," says the actress.
Foot-tapping number
So what did she wear? "At first, they gave me a multi-coloured chaniya choli, which was a bit long. I started practising, but changed into the blue churidar kameez because it was a pretty fast track, and the chaniya was longer than required. I rehearsed for one hour; I was told to complete the song in one take. It wasn't difficult; my feet were still tapping, courtesy my Telly Awards act."
C'est la vie
Does she feel bad that she didn't win? "So what if I didn't get the award? The item-number is good compensation; plus recently, a study by a group of management students revealed that I am the most popular female vamp on television?" says a buoyant Tassnim.
