Hrithik says 'No' to Bhansali

Not so long ago most actors would have killed to be a part of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. But the mercurial director it seems is finding it tough to get the right actors for his next film, yet another love triangle after Saawariya.

Bhansali who is very particular about the actors he casts had his heart set on signing Hrithik Roshan for his new venture. The two had been in talks and sources close to the developments say that the director had even sent Hrithik a copy of the bound script.

"Bhansali and Hrithik have always had cordial relations, and Bhansali has been in talks with him for three-fours years for various projects, but Hrithik is very particular when it comes to matters professional.

After Saawariya, Bhansali and Hrithik have been in talks, Hrithik even went to the director's house for meetings, and just when everything seemed set, he backed out," says the source.

Hrithik who is at present in Mexico with his father Rakesh Roshan, shooting for his home-production Kites being directed by Anurag Basu, informed Bhansali two days ago that he would be unable to do the film. The reasons for declining the film are not known.

Unfortunately for the director, the other star on his wishlist for the second hero's role too has had second thoughts. Bhansali, our source reveals, had been in touch with his Saawariya hero Ranbir for the second hero's role but nothing went beyond initial discussions.

Right now, Ranbir is busy with Yash Raj Films' Bachna Ae Haseeno, Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Prakash Jha's Rajniti. He has also given dates for Karan Johar's next film (untitled) which leaves him with little time for his mentor's movie.

Both Hrithik and Bhansali remained unavailable for comment, but there is speculation about the future of the project. Remember how Bhansali who had set his heart on casting Ash and Salman had canned Bajirao Mastani because he couldn't get them to act together again?

thanx for the article😊 I wonder why Hrithik refused the project?! I would love to see Hrithik in a movie directed by SLB, but then again it should be a good script. Hrithik must have had his reasons to reject the movie...

anyways, maybe they will come together in the future!

for now, I cant wait for KITES!!

yea it has to have a good script but with Ranbir in it no one other than Ranbir will get a good role cause Ranbir is SLB's new Aishwariya...moreover with SLB nothing is constant..he can even cut an actor's role before the release of a film if he wants...the actor won't be able to do anything but accept

That is too bad. I hope SLB and Hrithik do some work in the future though. It is not a bad thing that Hrithik is so selective because it has paid off for him.

SLB and Hrithik woulda been an interesting combo .. I guess Hrithik didn't like the script .. We all know he's quite choosey when it comes to choosing scripts.

But we don't even know if the news is true or not .. I guess we'll just have to wait for Hrithik or Sanjay to confirm it.

I dont understand why people worship SLB...to me he is a dark film maker...I will never understand what was the requirement of the controversial scene of Rani with Amitabh in Black

^I am not a big SLB fan to be honest. Last film of his I truly enjoyed was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. If you get me harping on the overacting in Black, it will take pages. But at least he brings something different to the table in his style of filmmaking.

I too dont understand the hype hovering him all the while . I like HDDCS . Black was different but very theatrical n looked artificial, so did saawariya . I dont approve of the way he holds himself in high regard as though he has won some oscar or something . He still has to go a long way in movie making as movies are not all about huge artificial sets ! someone please give him a CD of Lord of the Rings , thats how movies are made .
