Hema's dream project shelved!

Actor-director Hema Malini has a serious problem on hand. She feels that her daughter Esha Deol's career isn't going anywhere. But there's little that she can do about it except produce as well as direct a film that will showcase Esha's acting skills.

However, the dream girl's dreams for her daughter have so far not been fulfilled. For long, Hema resisted being cast with her daughter. "People would compare us. And that would not be good for Esha," Hema told friends.

But when Hema saw Esha's career stagnating, she finally relented and decided to be cast with Esha in a film that Pritish Nandy Communications was to produce. Unfortunately, that project never took off.

That's when Hema decided to take control of things by deciding to direct a film especially for Esha. But since acting and directing would be tough, Hema decided to not act in the film.

Instead Hema asked her saheli and long-standing colleague Rekha to play Esha's mother while she would be content just directing the two ladies.

However, a year has passed by but the project is still a dream. Reason? Hema cannot get suitable male co-stars for the film.

Says a source, "With two actresses already playing lead roles and Hemaji directing the film, all male actors feel that there's nothing much for them to do in the film. It's always been tough for female-centric projects to find the right male actors."

For all practical purposes, Hema Malini's Rekha-Esha project remains shelved.
