Even as friendship day is celebrated all over the world and new ties are cemented in Bollywood (like Amrita Arora and Kareena kapoor) or old friends stick together (such as Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan) a few relationships have bitten the dust. These one-time inseparable buddies are now foul mouthing each other. Even worse, they maintain a studied silence. All queries are handled adroitly without making any commitments or when all else fails the stars respond with the usual 'No Comments'. And while the fall-out is there for all to see, the janta doesn't realise both parties in all probability are deeply wounded inside. After being bum-chum for at least a decade how does one handle the bitter aftermath? Painful for every human being and after all our stars are human too…
Here's taking a look at some big-time brawls that rocked B'town over the last couple of year Salman Khan versus Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan built a great rapport with Aishwarya Raifirst during Josh and later during Devdas. So it was natural that when Shah Rukh needed a leading lady for his home production Chalte Chalte, he signed Aishwarya Rai. But a few days into the shoot Aishwarya's then boyfriend landed up on the sets and created a ruckus. Nobody knows why exactly SRK and Aziz took the decision to drop Ash but she was out of the film and Rani Mukerji was in. Shortly after that Salman and Ash broke up so Salman never had any negative vibes with SRK.
Cut to 2008 where Shah Rukh and Gauri were invited for Katrina's birthday bash. Apparently Salman took some pot shots at Shah Rukh and his status in the industry. When Salman's jibes got out of hand Shah Rukh retaliated by making some comments about Aishwarya. And a tipsy Salman lunged at him.
It will be a long time before Salman and Shah Rukh share space together.
PS: Insiders insist that Gauri Khan who gets along famously with all of SRK's costars was always cool and distant with Aishwarya RaiWonder why? Remember there's no smoke without a fire…
Sanjay Gupta versus Sanjay Dutt
These two macho men used to bond big time over bikes, watches, cars and of course women. Sanjay Dutt post Rhea Pillai was single and ready to mingle and Sanjay Gupta had separated from his wife Anuradha. These men waxed eloquent about their rapport, took bike rides at midnight and presented each other with rare whisky bottles.
Then one fine day almost simultaneously with Manyata cementing herself in Dutt's life the two buddies fell out. Initially Sanjay Gupta felt it was a passing phase and he kept giving quotes to the media about how they were still the best of buddies, but as time went on and Sanjay Dutt firmly and resolutely severed all ties, Sanjay Gupta was left with no choice but to admit that their 'buddy' days were history.
Sanjay Dutt refused to promote Dus Kahaniyan despite the fact that he was one of the producers. He was holidaying in Goa with Manyata. Dutt's manager Dharam Uberoi stayed away from the Woodstock VillaNeha Uberoi. premiere even though it was the launch pad for his daughter
While Dutt is on a high both personally and professionally, Sanjay Gupta finds himself high and dry. Ekta Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, all of Dutt's special pals have completely distanced themselves from him.
Now Irrfan Khan has replaced Dutt in both Sanjay Gupta's upcoming ventures, Alibaug and Acid Factory.
But we do wonder how many 'Friendship Day' wishes Sanjay Gupta will receive if at all he does…
Aamir Khan and Amole Gupte
These two men were friends for over a decade. Amole was a painter who always harboured aspirations of turning a filmmaker. He always hung out with the theatre and film crowd. In fact at one point when the two were really thick Aamir Khan had a lot of Amole's paintings hanging all over his house.
But the minute the shoot for Taare Zameen Par took off, equations changed drastically. Some people maintain Aamir had all along planned to take over as a director. But Amole Gupte has confirmed that Aamir did tell him that he could take the film to another producer. And though both Amole and Aamir promoted the film, they hardly ever shared the same platform.
Today as luck would have it Aamir has walked away with all the applause and Amole is still to enter the top league. But hopefully soon..
John Abraham and Arshad Warsi
These two used to get along like a house on fire. The effervescent bumbling Arshad and the slightly reserved John were the perfect counterfoil for each other. People living in Arshad's building on Yari Road were used to seeing John on one of his fancy bikes coming and going at all times of the day. The rapport, which began earlier, was cemented during Kabul Express. Apparently both of them were excited about Goal, which was being shot extensively in the UK.
But equations changed when Goal was being made and there was a massive clash of egos. John felt he was the star in Goal whereas Arshad felt they had been promised equal weightage. Even as both of them kept up their interference in the script, they stopped communicating with each other.
Wish they hadn't though. Since Goal bombed at the box-office both are equally responsible for the failure. And they're sworn enemies now…
Really, such a pity!
