The tension must have continued for several months after the break up with Kareena Kapoor. The break up seemed to have taken its toll on Shahid Kapoor and it is nonly now he seems to have left the loss behind.
Shahid's latest film Kismat Konnektion that was written off by film critics just after its launch is on its way to become a big hit. It has already grossed more than Rs 300 million and is still running house full.
But Shahid doesn't give much importance to film critics. He says, "Kismat Konnection was a much larger release than Jab We Met. The perception that it has not done well is created because of the reviews. In due course, the figures will start coming out and you will know. My earlier film, Vivaah got terrible reviews but it ran for 48 weeks. Audiences don't bother about reviews, beyond a point. It is more about audiences waiting for your film to release".
He says that his film Vivah that was also written off by the film critics went on to become a big hit.
Now people are not talking about Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na as the only hit of the season. Kismat Konnection has become the talking point. The critics are amazed that how an NRI love story can be such a big hit in the year 2008 when they did not give it a chance.
Despite being opened for more than a week, the film's collection is around 80 percent. On weekends it goes even higher. If box office indications are true, the film is going to be a bigger hit than Aamir Khan Productions' Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Main.
Shahid must be more than happy. His acting skills are being appreciated like never before. 'Jab we met' was a big hit. And his new film Kismat Konnection is on its way to be a bigger hit.
The film has been a big hit in overseas market as well.
In US and UK the collection has been in the proximity of Rs 10 million. In the middle east it has been even higher.
