Younis to miss last England Test

Younis has been out of form so far in the series

Pakistan vice-captain Younis Khan has pulled out of the third Test against England after the death of his brother. "My elder brother Sharif died in Ukraine on Saturday and I won't be able to play the third Test," he said. The match begins in Lahore on Tuesday with Pakistan leading the three-Test series 1-0. The batsman has been below his best so far in the series, with 121 runs from four innings and a best of 48 in the opening match in Multan. But he has been one of Pakistan's most consistent batsman in their last five series, scoring three hundreds in his last six Tests. Pakistan's problems are compounded as all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been banned for scuffing the pitch in Faisalabad. "Younis's absence is a big loss for us as we are already without Shahid in this Test," said captain Inzamam-ul-Haq. "But we have to make the most of the situation and ensure we hold our lead and try to build on it in the final Test." Inzamam said Pakistan were considering calling up another batsman, with Yasir Hameed and uncapped Rifatullah Momand both in contention. But the Pakistan squad already includes two middle-order batsmen, Asim Kamal and Hasan Raza, who did not play in the second Test in Faisalabad.

"One option is to bring in Asim Kamal at number three and Hasan Raza bats at number six to fill the two vacant places," said coach Bob Woolmer.
