A Review : Desified Music Service

Features

Desified Music LLC provides three major different services. Each service comes with different features. Company's website lists three different services as Unlimited Downloads, Unlimited Online, and MP3 Downloads.

Unlimited Downloads: Desified Music publishes its entire catalog (currently advertised as over 100,000 songs) to its customer as Microsoft Digital Rights Management protected Windows Media Audio files. Desified Music LLC's customers pay a monthly subscription fee and are allowed unlimited access to all files. Users can download as many songs as they like, as long as their monthly subscription is valid. Unlimited Downloads package also includes the capability of transferring all downloaded files to up to three portable media players. Customer's portable media player must support DRM protected wma files. One of the major drawbacks of this package is that it does not allow users to burn downloaded wma files to Audio CDs, and as of today Apple's iPhone and iPod does not support Microsoft's DRM protected wma files. Desified Music LLC's disclaimer states that users must have a Microsoft Windows based PC with at least Windows Media Player 11, but further testing has revealed that content downloaded from Desified Music works fine on Apple's operating system as long as you have downloaded Microsoft Media Player. Mac version of Windows Media Player is available for free from Microsoft. Also, all downloaded songs automatically expire if customer does not renew its subscription, and become useless unless customer resumes subscription.

Unlimited Online: Desified Music also offers its customer a cheaper alternative to downloading songs. Desified Music LLC's monthly subscription service named "Unlimited Online" allows its broadband connected customers to stream its full catalog of songs from the website. Users must have Windows Media Player 11 installed on their computers to enjoy this service. Users have the option to stream a single song, or full album at a time. Customized application from Desified Music displays album information in a user friendly format inside Windows Media Player while music is being streamed. Currently Unlimited Online package only work on computers running Windows operating system with Internet Explorer as their Internet browser. This package requires that you have an active connection to Internet. Unlimited Online package is included for free in Unlimited Downloads purchase.

MP3 Downloads: Just for all of you that are looking for unprotected plain and simple mp3 files, Desified Music offers mp3 downloads to its customers in form of download packages. Currently site lists package starting from five songs, all the way up to 500 songs. Customers purchase download credits, and each song downloaded debits one credit from your balance. Desified Music has made this very simple and easy for users to download full album with a single click. Album downloads include all songs from specified album in a nice compressed zip file. Customers who purchase mp3 downloads can easily burn Audio CDs, or transfer these songs to their favorite portable media players like iPhone, or iPod.

Purchase Options

Desified Music offers two different subscription services. Unlimited Downloads, which also includes Unlimited Online package costs its customers $10 per month. Unlimited Online by itself is $5 per month. All mp3 downloads are priced by package starting at $4 for five mp3 songs to $50 for 500 mp3 songs. Customers have option to pay with credit has directly on the website, or use Google Checkout using any major credit cards.

Website

Desified Music LLC provides a simple and easy to browse website. Customer can pick from five color schemes to suit their color preferences. Desified Music website has browsing features similar to those of its competitors, such as the ability to search by Artist, Album, Song, or Label. Users are also able to browse through list of albums, artists, songs, and labels in a well organized page format. Also, the lists can be sorted by date release, date added, and few other sort options. Website also lists newly added albums, artists directly on its home page. Side bar on almost every page lists five randomly picked albums, and also lists some current special offers.

Limitations

Unlimited Online service does not let its customer define custom playlists, and the only options that are available are to listen to single tracks or full album. Unlimited Downloads unlike mp3 downloads, does not offer full album downloads with single click. Desified Music responded to our request for album downloads for subscription as a coming soon feature. Many customer has complained about the subscription service not compatible with iPhone or iPod, but that is a limitation from Microsoft Digital Rights not a limitation of Desified Music service.

Future

Desified Music LLC is growing every day. Content tracking from the last six month have shown that company is adding new and old content almost every week. Desified Music LLC is also expanding to start publishing video content. Application development is in progress for video on Desified Music's website. Desified Music has not disclosed how videos be published, either free or pay-per-download, or may be advertisement supported.
