A stroke of luck
Rashmi Desai talks about the coincidences that led her on the path of fame
She is still in college and she can hardly attend classes. Rashmi Desai, who plays a double role in Pari Hoon Main, says, "I am only 18 and studying in NM college, Mumbai. Right now, work takes up all my time but I am enjoying it all the same."
Like in the show, she was an ordinary girl who struck it lucky overnight, "I am a classical dancer. I happened to hear about these auditions and decided to give it a try just for a lark. And the next thing I knew was that I was selected. It was unbelievable."
Playing a double-role though can be tedious, "Nikki is this gharelu, gawky girl who loves everyone, while Pari is the brattish superstar who treats people like dirt. Its not easy doing such contrasts roles but its challenging nevertheless."
Though there are the frills too, "It's a high playing the lead girl in such a big production house (BR films). And I am pampered silly too — special attention is paid to my food habits and all my comfort. The team works very hard on all my looks as well as giving me inputs on my performance."
Though people have appreciated her in the simple salwar-kameezes and saris, she does not rule out revealing outfits "I did wear short clothes when I played Pari. And when she does eventually make a re-entry, there may be a demand for such clothes again. I have no reservations wearing such clothes because it will be the demand of the script."
