It's not her age she should be hiding... it's her clothes.
Filmfare has put Vidya Balan on their cover this month, and all we have to say is 'what were they thinking'?
What has she done to merit a cover?
Her sense of dressing? Well, don't even get us started.
Actually let's get started. She attended the Filmfare launch of the issue in an outfit that really displayed her faux pas very clearly. She was wearing some dark blue tunic over, get this, rolled up jeans - the tackiest trend ever.
Vidya, did the party you go for have a 'Mumbai flood' theme?
The shoes were fine, but the hand piece was gaudy to say the least. Her finger nails were long and bright red. Red is in, but only on closely cut nails, not long, witchy ones like Vidya's.
Does this girl know nothing?
I'm surprised at her lack of knowledge about the most ordinary things. I don't think she even knows that a classic thing as a white t-shirt and jeans exists, and would have been a better option to say the least.
But then Vidya doesn't know a lot of things. She should thank God her first foray into Bollywood was 'Parineeta', a movie where she was covered from head to toe in a Sari, the only garment that suits her.
The make-up was Indian, the garb was Indian -and Vidya was a hit. If you do look back at 'Parineeta' - what was so great about her acting?
She acted like a behenji through out - and she has practice at that. She has been doing that all her life na?
The movies after 'Parineeta' haven't been that great either.
There was Eklavya, where she looked fine because she dressed Indian and didn't have to speak much through the whole film. Then there was 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', where the stylists made sure they covered her unshapely body up by giving her loose tops and skirts.
Then there was 'Hey Baby', where the real dowdy Vidya Balan came to fore. She looked like an aunty - someone who had been living under a rock for years and had just woken up.
I also don't understand another facet about Vidya.
When you exist in a world where people like Kareena rule the roost, why can't you put a little effort into what you are wearing?
Does she think the audience is so benevolent that they will ignore everything?
And what really gets us seething is the fact that she is so thick skinned. Arey, why are you insisting on making a fool out of yourself time and again?
If Govinda was a woman, he would dress like Vidya. And that, is not a compliment.
And now in 'Kismat Konnection', where she truly looks like Shahid's mum, she is just too unbearable. And did you watch her at an award show wearing a golden ghagra with golden stones hanging down her neck. Yuckie.
We have never even understood the big hoo ha about her acting skills, because we really think she has none. If being coy and using those big eyes to express any moronic expression is acting, well, then, Vidya has it down pat.
Other than that, we don't notice anything special.
She doesn't have the charm of Rani, or the vivaciousness of Kareena.
We have discussed at length about what could make this actress look decent and have reached a unanimous decision - she needs to just wear Indian clothes. Because if she continues trying to act stylish, she's going to fall flat on her face!
But isn't she on the ground already?
You be the judge.
