Draupadi is one of the PanchaMahaKanya, whose name everyone is recommended to remember in morning to get rid of sins. . Draupadi n Lord Krishna were Bhakt n Bhagwaan. There was a spiritual love between Draupadi n Lord Krishna.
She n her brother Drishtadyumna was born of Yagna. After her birth her father made arrangement of her education. She was very intelligent n quick learner n soon she became well-versed in all shastraas. She had all good qualities of good women. She knew household works, very good cook, philosopher, nature n animal lover, very benevolent, well mannered, and full of all good Sanskaars. She also knew poetry n art. Lord Krishna was her Bhagwaan so He was the only subject of her poetry n art.
Her father Drupad wanted the best man on earth to be her husband. First he wanted Lord Krishna to marry her but lord Krishna said that he would like to be her friend n will always protect like a true friend (sakha). He advised him to organize Swayamvar. All braves were invited including pandavs n kauravs. Arjuna won her. Then she married all five pandavs. Marriage with draupadi was lucky for them. Dhritarastra announced that he is sorry for the Shakuni's conspiracy to burn pandavas alive in Laakshagriha. Conspiracy of Lakshagriha took place before her swayamwar. After swayamwar Dritaratra invited pandavs to return Hastinapur. Draupadi had to hear many taunts in Hastinapur. Dhritaraastra he was very cunning in the name of division of kingdom he gave pandavs barren land of KhandavPrasta. But later on Lord Krishna turned it into beautiful IndraPrasta with help of Mayaasur. Pandavs had great respect for Draupadi. Lord Krishna used to solve her dilemmas.
Once Lord Krishna cut his finger while using Sudarshana Chakra. On seeing the blood coming out of his finger Arjuna became very worried n asked her to do something to stop blood. Draupadi immediately tore her new sari n wrapped Krishna's finger
After some time Yudhistir organized Ashwamedha yagna with help of Lord Krishnas grace. Kauravs were invited. duryodha, dushashan n jaydhrat were became jealous of pandavs. Shakuni again planned a conspiracy-conpiracy of dice game in which they lost everything including their self n draupadi. Draupadi was not well n had mild fever on that day. As she was not well she was not wearing her heavy costumes n jewelries. She was getting her hair combed n was totally unaware of what was happening in Royal court room. When Dushsna was derobing her Dritaraastra didn't utter a single word in opposition. He is the worst king of History-very unjust. Nobody came to rescue her except Lord Krishna. Dhritarasstra said that he is pleased with her Sativa power n asked her to wish two boons. In her first boon she prayed for return her husbands' upper cloth n Mukuta which were taken away by Duryodhana. In her second boon she prayed for freeing her husband from Duryodhana's slavedom. These boons were granted by Dhritaraastra. After that they were exiled for 13 yrs. Subhadra took care of the 5 kids of Draupadi when they were exiled
Krishna saving her from curse
Sun-God awarded a Askshy Paatra( a magical vessel to Pandavs so that they do not face any hardship in Vanwas. He said "whatever the female-head of ur family will cook in it will never exhaust for that day. This vessel will yield food to unlimited extent every day. But when that female head of ur family will take food from this vessel for herself this vessel will yield no more for that day." For this reason Draupadi took decision that she'll eat only once a day after feeding every one. For 12 long years she ate only one time in a day after sunset. Everyday she used to cook in that magical vessel; she used to feed five pandavs n guests visiting them n also she used to give food to hundreds of poor tribal kids living in their neighborhood. Even after sunset she used to remain unfed thinking that a guest might arrive n return unfed. When Duryodhana came to know abt that akshay paatra he planned a conspiracy because he grew jealous of pandavs. He sent an invitation to Durvasa Rishi in Pandavas' name to visit their cottage with his 60,000 students for dinner. Luckily that day was Janamaastami-Lord krishna's B'day. Every year Pandavs used to celebrate his B'day. Lord Krishna promised Draupadi that in Vanwas he'll give them Darshan in his B'day. Draupadi remainded unfed for whole day thinking that Krishna might come to visit them. She n Pandavs kept waiting for him till midnight but lord Krishna did not arrive. Durvasa n his students were on the way n about to reach. Draupadi was totally unaware of false invitation given to Durvasa by Duryodhan. Finally she could not control her hunger n started eating the food that remained in the Akshay Paatra. When she finished eating Lord Krihna arrived. He said that he wanted to come early but because of his B'day he was very busy. pandavas became very happy on getting His darshan. He said that he is very hungry n asked Draupadi to give some food. But akshay paatra was totally empty. Draupadi washed her hand in hurry. Lord Krishna said that he want to read the lines of her palms. When he hold her hand he found a rice amidst her fingers. He took that single rice n ate it with full satisfaction. Krishna was 'JAGAT AATMA', 'PARAMAATMA'. Because he ate that single rice will full satisfaction, all the AATMAs of the whole world felt fully satisfied including Durvasa n his 60,000 students. Thus Lord Krishna saved her from committing the sin of returning guest unfed n getting cursed by Durvasa.
It is said that Lord Krishna took an invisible form to protect Pandavs n Draupadi in vanwas.
