He's all of six years but his professional repertoire could put any well-established actor to shame. Having begun his acting career, as it were, at the tender age of two years and four months, Azaan Shah has done it all. And then some more. Advertisements, a string of TV serials and a Bollywood film, at six, little Azaan's a star alright. He showed a liking for the camera, and would remember dialogues of ads and serials and re-enact them, all at two years of age, his mother Ayesha reveals. That's when his parents realised his interest and potential. What followed were numerous advertisements from biscuits to noodles to playing a young Dhoni, and roles in TV serials Kasamh Se (where he played Roshni Chopra and Ram Kapoor's son Veer), Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni, Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil, Kuch Is Tarah, Ek Packeet Umeed and Ekta Kapoor's upcoming Kahani Hamaare Mahaabharat Ki on 9X. And yes, he's also had a taste of Bollywood, having played Ashwini Kalsekar and Vinay Pathak's son Chiku in Johnny Gaddar! Such a young age, and so much exposure, not to mention hectic shoot schedules and the chaotic life of lights, camera, action. What keeps Azaan going to the studios and sets when he could be on slides and swings instead? "I like it very much. I like being with Prachi (Desai) didi and Roshni (Chopra) didi. I want to learn acting from them," says Azaan, as he gives this interview between shots. And the little kid sure seems to be taking his own words seriously, for he tells us "I want to be a big actor one day." While his favourite actor is Shah Rukh Khan, he would love to act with Amitabh Bachchan in a Bhoothnath-kind of film some day, or be the protagonist in a film like Krrish. Talk about flying high! But Bollywood later, right now this small wonder is setting the small screen ablaze with his spunk, talent and childish innocence. He is also very fond of "Deven uncle" (Deven Bhojani), "Shabbir uncle" (Shabbir Ahluwalia) and "Jay uncle" (Jay Bhanushali), ![]() |
