The Court Case of Betiyaan

The Court Case in Betiyaan is ridiculous .

The silly Garodias , as usual , have made another idiotic decision of giving the case to a lawyer who clearly needs therapy as she stutters and stammers in the court and massages her temple with her fingers nervously like a migraine patient . Neither does the Lawyer have a solid opening statement , nor an argument , nor solid proofs , all she has is her own personal problems and migraines . So she sits and massages her forehead while the prosecution talks to the judge .

Not surprising . The idiotic garodias make crucial decisions often this way . Surya's surgery depended on a dance competition that Laxmi who never danced may or may not win.....Saraswati's life depends on a lawyer who hasnt fought a case in 10 years and clearly needs treatment herself . The reason is no lawyer in Rajpipla was ready to take the case . What utter rubbish yaar . If no lawyer in Rajpipla is taking the case bring a lawyer in from another city .....give his flying expenses , living expenses . So many cases r fought this way .

Leave aside the fact that Kapil Singhania boasts and all . Look at him as a lawyer upto this point . He has done a great job of defending his client ! His opening statement was concise , he cross questions to the point , his sarcasm is optimum , he pokes holes in the defense argument , he substantiates his own arguments with adequate proofs and talks very valid points .

Kapil Singhania asked a very correct and important question .....one that is uppermost in most of the NRI Indians abroad in this forum who have been brought up abroad and are curious about India as it is their motherland ......does this act of Saraswati do justice to India's cultural message of peace ? It reflects India very badly in the eyes of all those abroad , who think that as a third world country , is India really this barbaric ? Of course they r too polite and well bred to say so directly , but I have sensed it in so many posts ! The confusion in their mind comes across with their comments and I dont blame them a bit ! Who wudn't , if they saw such a heinous act being glorified like this ? This court case makes me ask one question ....how come the correct arguments are being done by the villainous lawyer and the useless defence by the heroine lawyer ?

Ultimately , Saraswati is going to be saved by some recording found by chance , by pure luck , by Laxmi .....just as Karan's mother woke up at last minute and exonerated Surya from blame by pure luck . So where the hell is Damini's capability as a lawyer in this ?

Kapli Singhania asked Devi Savitri a very important question . What was she doing , when Saraswati was doing all this ? {Encouraging her bcoz of her own repressed problems is the answer my dear .]

BTW , what do Saloni , payal and Soni have to do with their bhashanbaazi , ' women rights speeches in connection to Saraswati winning the case ? Not a single point in their speeches was legal . Will any judge give even 5 minutes of his caseload time to listen to such rubbish ?

And finally , when Saraswati walks free to the jaijai durge kaali music , a very important question remains un answered . Does this mean each harassed woman shud go running home , buy a kersone can on the way and quickly burn off their husbands who r harassing them , then point to Saraswati and say , heyyyy she is free so r we !!!???? Or shud they gather enough guts at the right time to say Enough !and start divorce proceedings , which Saraswati , under goofy Savitri's tutelage , under the name of good sanskaars never did ?

Savitri actually tried to pay Dharaben 's money demands secretly without telling Surya , telling Saraswati indirectly that this is the way to make a marraige work , she and Surya sent her back after knowing BHavishya beat her black and blue , Saraswati stubbornly tried to live in a non existent marraige only coz the Garodia name shudnt be tarnished , and even went back after the burning to sleep with him as Preeti and got pregnant in a ridiculous bid to teach him a lesson . Now , in this whole sequence of events ,who is responsible for all this ......Saraswati and Savitri or Bhavishya the mental patient ? They dont know when to stop the charade of ' good sanskaars ' and resort to practical means and then when it gets too much they resort to such barbaric acts and say they r India's role models ????

Actually , when the judge signs the release papers of Saras , ping !!! she will turn in a Devi , and when he looks around all the Betiyaan and damini too will ping !!! become other devis . The glitter of their golden crowns will be too much for the poor man to bear , he will hurriedly sign the papers and gathering his black robes will flee to the toilet to relieve himself , while the other men will prostrate before the devis when they triumphantly walk out of the courtroom !

Firstly agree on the lawyers point they could have flown in anyone not someone whos not fought a case for ages..as a NRI my view on this case is and since in uk theres been massive debates across asian community about this it is not right to burn someone but what you got to remeber is the mental state of domestic violence victims they are made to feel weak and unable to do anything domestic violence can be mental and physical and person can snap..even in uk the laws soo behind but people have groups to go to in this case this guy bribed his way out of mental assylum that says alot more to me and have seen in reality about indian justice system that someone a victim of domestic violence get off...this is even what provoked film was trying to highlight as well.

haha! this is awesome! I was totally thinking the exact same thing! especially the part about Damini's capability as a lawyer. i'm sure she'll get lots of praise for saving Saraswati even though it was the random video that some how got recorded on Lakshmi's cell.

and as a girl that is born and raised in canada it makes me really wonder about India. It's almost embarrasing that the murder of bhav was a plot on a tv show.

These were exactly my thoughts while I was watching this ridiculous court case, as u put it. Every single one of the bhashans by all the heroines were absolutely n utterly baseless. What was even more disgusting than this is how Savitri and Surya were talking in today's episode, abt how they are so proud of their daughter for taking such a courageous step. Really, I have no words left to describe how absurb this show has become.

Kapil Singhania is probably the best character that has ever entered Betiyaan till date. He has been the most practical, level-headed, and realistic person yet. His sarcastic expressions were really a treat to watch during when the devis were giving their super long speeches. Sadly, like u mentioned, they made such a wonderful character like him a villan while making a completely incapable lawyer the heroine.

Truly looking at it... what did Damini do to fight this case? Nothing. She really had no reason to be gloating after she won to Kapil. And neither did any of the devis help either. The only thing that has ever worked, and worked today for the betiyaan is luck. If that clip had never been recorded... Saras wud have gone to jail.

If this was real life, Kapil cud have easily fought this case on... telling the Betiyaan to then prove that the man in the clip is infact Bhav. He cud easily be Ranbir.. but as always, the devis have the win. And though unrightfully, they have again.

Kruthi i typed this post when I hadnt read todays update .....have they really shown Sav doing aarti of saras and that blundering Damini gloating ? I mean , with what face is she gloating .....pure luck gloat?

Im not surprised . It is so sad that the NRIs see India this way in serials ,it is so sad . Not once has Savitri taken a good look at herself and taken responsibility for what her daughter did.....bearing Surya's second marraige in the first place and sending a message to her daughters that whatttttever be the circumstances , u must make ur bad marraige work . If this was the message initially she herself gave her daughter , then why this act of barbarism when her advice didnt work ? Isnt it hypocritical ?

Yes, as hard as that is to digest, that did infact happen in today's episode. This show is truly becoming a torture to watch... as sikhgirl3 mentioned, its truly embarrassing to see such a horrible plot being used in a TV serial.

utter stupid case.Kapil was a damn good lawyer defending his client.he could have easily asked the devis to prove that the one in video is actually Bhav..they cud have made ranbir say all the words and recorded it 😕 ..damini didnt have any role to play in saras release..
the most irritating part was saloni/payal/soni's dialogues..what did that got to do with the case?

And did they call Ranbir .....the key to everything , to the stand to testify on Saraswati's behalf ? So what if the ward boy ran off ? What about the other staff who can testify to the Wardboy ?
Once the defence and prosecution says we rest the case , other proofs r not admitted like the last minute tape .
Also , Damini has to disclose all her findings to the prosecutor and the court before using them in court .

She was utterly hopeless as a lawyer . The biggest joke is that not once did she call Ranbir to the stand to testify ....or did i miss it ? If i did im sorry .

As someone who was born and raised in the US this is my understanding of Indian law based on these soaps:

-Anyone at anytime can come as a witness, even if they did not actually witness anything (OK some credit goes to Saloni since she saw Bhav's treatment of Preeti, but in any normal court Payal and Soni would have been laughed out of the building and whatever lawyer called them to the stand would be shamed into a state of unemployment)

-If you find any evidence, the police expect you to keep it in your own custody (Maayka)

-People can just barge in the midst of a court hearing without prior notice. No security whatsoever.

-Premeditated murder is acceptable in some situations. Look, Saraswati had no shortage of chances to kill Bhav out of true and genuine self defense. Why didn't she keep some type of weapon with her? People do not set other people on fire in self defense. She killed him this way deliberately, so she can gloat about it later.

-If you are an accomplice to someone else's crime, you will receive no punishment, even if the person you aided does. That ward boy and the doctor and whoever else was in on this whole Bhav thing will get off scott free. When the police came to arrest Saras, Laxmi, Savitri, Gauri, and Durga were all let off.

BTW why did no one think to call RANBIR to the stand? He was the one who was kidnapped by Bhav.

God, I would have made a better lawyer than Damini. She is utterly useless. Of course no lawyer would take their case: BECAUSE THEY'RE GUILTY. Even despite the phone recording, I think Saras and the whole gang should have been convicted. Self defense my foot.
