Being an actor isn't as easy as it seems. Along with perks like fame and pots of money comes a huge responsibility to your producers and audience. It's a reality Mandira Bedi understands well. "I have been practically voiceless for the last six weeks," she groans, "and I really just need a week off from everything to rest my throat, but I have so many commitments! The most I have managed to get is two days off, that too over Diwali, and it hasn't helped much." So, Mandira is pushing herself to get through anchoring high-volume, high-energy TV shows with great difficulty. And it doesn't end there. We hear the actress was forced to call off one of her stage shows with Sameer Soni some days ago and then stood outside the auditorium apologising to ticket holders because of her inability to perform that evening. "It's true," she rasps, "We refunded everybody's ticket money and offered them a discount for tickets to the next show as well, because I just couldn't manage. I went to the auditorium intending to get through the show, but when we rehearsed it was clear the lapel mike was catching every bit of my croak!" Well, an earnest apology from a lovely lady must surely have eased the blow of this no-show. |
