Attempting to Bind the Infinite
The royal court of Hastinapura fell into a tense, breathless silence. Sitting high upon his throne, King Dhritarashtra gripped his armrests with trembling hands, while the rest of the assembly watched the center of the hall with bated breath.
"Bring the chains!" Duryodhana’s voice thundered through the court, shattering the quiet like a sudden crack of thunder.
Heavy iron links clattered violently onto the polished marble floor as palace guards moved aggressively toward the dark-skinned diplomat. From the shadows of the pillars, Shakuni chuckled slyly, his lips curling into a sharp, victorious smirk. He leaned in, whispering to no one in particular, "Let us see how this clever messenger escapes us now."
Karna stepped forward, an uneasy, troubled frown creasing his brow. "Brother," he warned, his hand instinctively tightening on his bow, "it is against the royal code to imprison an ambassador."
"He is no ambassador, Karna, he is a conspirator!" Duryodhana spat back, his face twisted in rage. Refusing to wait for his guards, the prince grabbed the massive chain himself, stepping forward proudly to wrap the heavy iron tightly around the visitor. He declared to the court that no mere cowherd would leave his palace as a free man.
Lord Krishna remained completely still at the center of the assembly. He did not flinch, nor did he resist. Instead, an unbothered, gentle smile rested on his lips as the cold metal bound him.
"Duryodhana," Krishna spoke, his voice calm yet resonating so deeply throughout the chamber that the very walls seemed to hum. "You seek to bind the wind with a mere rope?"
Duryodhana opened his mouth to answer, but the words died in his throat.
Krishna gently closed his eyes, and a blinding golden light suddenly erupted directly from his body. The heavy iron links instantly turned red-hot, glowing with an intense, solar heat, before snapping like brittle twigs under an immense, unseen cosmic pressure. Terrified guards shielded their eyes and stumbled backward in absolute chaos as the light grew too brilliant to look upon.
Krishna began to expand his physical form. The gentle messenger vanished, and in his place, a towering, cosmic manifestation revealed itself to the entire royal court. The architecture of Hastinapura seemed to warp and fade, replaced by a terrifying, beautiful vision of the infinite universe itself.
"Forgive us, O Lord!" Dhritarashtra cried out from his throne, trembling violently as the entire palace shook to its ancient foundations.
Duryodhana fell heavily to his knees in sheer shock. Staring up into the divine, blinding light, his pride dissolved into nothingness. His arrogance completely vanished as he realized, too late, the monumental foolishness of his actions. He had brought iron chains to imprison the universe itself.
